Metro Exodus – The Caspian Collectibles (Diaries, Postcards and Upgrades)

Postcard 10

At the beginning of the chapter after exiting the train, head into the room of the destroyed building right next to the train on the south side. This postcard will be immediately to the left side of the entrance hanging on a wall.

 

First Mate’s Diary (Diary 1)

Enter a makeshift stronghold in a giant boat via an entrance on the right (east) side of the road and head straight through slave quarters. Take the metal stairs at the end and the diary will be on a table just past the first shipping container on the right.

 

Leader’s Letter (Diary 2)

From the above collectible, keep working your way through the second level slave quarters. When you reach the end, take a yellow ladder up to reach the deck of the ship with some shipping containers. Head through the doorway straight ahead and take the ladder on the left side of the room to reach a higher ledge in the room (there will be three enemies in this room). Follow the ledge into the next room and keep moving forward. When you reach the yellow ladder at the other end of the room, head right to find the diary located on a table next to a radio.

 

Motion Scanner (Upgrade 9)

From the above collectible, head up the yellow ladder and then head into the room slightly to the left. The upgrade will be located on a wooden table on the right side of the room.

 

Extra Bright Flashlight (Upgrade 10)

This upgrade is located in a boat safe house near the rock tunnel entrance to the lighthouse in the northwest corner of the map. When you enter the boat, note that there is a tripwire just before the upgrade. The upgrade is on a crate to the left of the cot.

 

Letter to Son (Diary 3)

After entering the rock tunnel entrance to the lighthouse, use the zip line to cross the gap. Head across two bridges and keep following the path a short way to find a dead bandit next to a glow stick on the ground. The diary is to the left of this corpse on a rock.

 

Postcard 11

The postcard is located at the top of the lighthouse on a wall immediately to the right after entering.

 

Memo (Diary 4)

Follow Giul to a satellite facility underground east of the lighthouse. Work your way through the facility and you will eventually drop down a hole in the floor. When you fall down, you will be in a room with a lantern on a table. Keep heading forward and turn left before the closed metal door with a giant 03 next to it. Head down the short hallway and turn right into the first cubicle. The diary will be located on a desk next to a red typewriter.

 

Image Analysis (Diary 5)

From the previous collectible, keep working your way forward until you come to a large command center. Head towards the map and take a right. Follow the hallway and pass through the bathroom to emerge into another hallway. Enter through the passage to the right just before you reach the metal doors (you will have to crouch to enter the small passageway). The diary will be located on a desk on the right side of the room next to a corpse sitting in a chair.

 

Family Photo (Giul’s Request)

Giul’s mother is holding the photo in her arms and can be found through the teal door on the left side of the room from the above collectible.

 

Last Orders (Diary 6)

From the previous collectible, head into the server room and keep working your way through. Eventually, you will come to a fallen vent duct, which you will need to climb up to make your way through the vents. After you drop down from the vent into an archive room, head through the doorway directly behind you. The diary will be on the conference table where the skeleton is sitting at the head of the table.

 

Shopping List (Diary 7)

Locate a large boat with red on the bottom and blue on the top near the water north of where the intersecting roads make an “x” in the eastern part of the map. Enter through a hole on the front right side of the ship (opposite end of the image of the Baron on the ship). Climb up a short yellow ladder and walk up a set of metal stairs. Once at the top, turn right and follow the path up the second set of metal stairs. Climb the ladder on the right side to enter a large room filled with enemies. Take the path on the right leading to a yellow switch box where you can turn out the lights to this room. Take a left down the metal set of stairs. Once at the bottom, turn right to drop down to a slightly lower level and follow the path right to the end. Turn left heading past the circular windows and head up a small flight of stairs. Turn right at the top and head through the metal door with the blinking light and skulls. Head through the door and note that an enemy with a machine gun is in this room. Hug the right wall all the way to the end and head up the metal stairs on the left. Swing left and head into the doorway between the two red banners with a white symbol. The diary will be on the right on a console.

 

Postcard 12

This postcard is located in the same room as the above collectible between the door and yellow switch box.

 

Diary Fragments (Diary 8)

The diary is located in a large boat at the base of the large landmass. The diary can be found in the same room as the Hermit on a crate near the windows.

 

Baron’s Letter (Diary 9)

The diary is located west of the northernmost safe house near the entrance to the bandit hideout in the ravine. The diary is located on a wooden crate under a metal umbrella next to a truck.

 

Death Note (Diary 10)

From the above collectible, continue into the ravine and kill all the enemies. Once the enemies are dead, a rope ladder will drop from the cliff. Climb up this rope and the diary will be on a barrel to the right next to a corpse.

 

Armored Glass (Upgrade 11)

This upgrade is located to the left of the previous collectible on a wooden crate.

 

Charred Note (Diary 11)

From the red and blue boat that contained the Shopping List, head south until you see a structure over the road that has a bus on top. Turn left into the enemy camp. Past the chairs on the right climb up a yellow ladder.  The diary will be located at the top on the right side on a crate.

 

Letter to the Artist (Diary 12)

After meeting up with Damir in the northwest corner of the map, follow him until you slide down the rock leading to the caverns that once use to be a town. Head forward past a red barrel and turn left taking the ramp to the top. The diary will be on an old radio sitting next to a bed.

 

Postcard 13

From the above collectible, lower the rope ladder on the left and climb down. The postcard will be straight ahead (north) in the rusty truck next to the driver side door.

 

Postcard 14

Enter the airfield in the southeastern part of the map and head to the intact hanger on the right. Head all the way to the back of the hanger. The postcard is located on a wooden crate in the middle of the last row of shelves. The postcard is a little hard to see with night vision because it is in a ray of light.

 

NVD Amplifier (Upgrade 12)

This upgrade is located in the same airfield as the above collectible. Head to the main building with a Demon nest attached to the front of it. Work your way to the top, fighting Humanimals as you go. This upgrade will be located on a chair in the safe house right next to the workbench.

 

Consumables Carrier (Upgrade 13)

Located north of the airfield safe house in a cave along the water. The cave will be down the slope to the right of a man claiming to be the real Baron. The upgrade is to the right of the workbench.

Metro Exodus – Yamantau Collectibles (Diaries and Postcards)

Diary Page 1

After splitting up with the team and exiting the elevator, head straight through a metal detector and turn left to find the diary on a table.

 

Postcard 9

From the previous collectible, continue working your way through the compound. You will pass through a kitchen, freezer and armory. After squeezing through shelves, head straight and crawl over the sheets of cardboard to the left of the yellow light switch box (pictured above) to enter the room in the back. The postcard will be straight ahead once you stand up on the wall on a target (see image below for postcard location).

 

Diary Page 2

From the previous collectible, the diary will be located on a plastic cube to the left of the targets.

 

Diary Page 3

From the previous collectible, continue working your way through the compound. You will pass the barracks and come to a long dark hallway filled with some water. At the dead end, take the path to the right over the rubble. Stick to the right to find a bedroom. The diary will be on a crate to the left of the bed.

 

Officer’s Diary 1

From the previous collectible, keep pushing forward. After defeating a heavily armored enemy with a minigun, you will open the large door. The diary will be on a metal cart next to a corpse with a detached head in the second room on the right.

 

Postcard 8

This postcard will be on the wall to the left of the door directly behind where Anna was tied up.

 

Officer’s Diary 2

From the previous collectible, head down the hallway of corpses following Anna. The diary will be located on a barrel to the left just before the elevator.

 

Officer’s Diary 3

After leaving the command center, this diary will be on a crate to the left just before the elevator.

The Volga

 

Compass (Upgrade 1)

After almost being eaten by the giant water monster, Duke will pull you out of the water. Head to the plane he mentioned behind him and work your way up towards the cockpit. The upgrade will be between the two pilot chairs.

 

Extended Filter (Upgrade 2)

Locate a red shipping crate north of the train tracks in the center of the map slightly west of Safe House 5. The upgrade will be located in the very back of the crate.

 

Ammo Pouches (Upgrade 3)

Locate a fortified structure slightly east of Safe House 5. From the gated entrance of the building, head up the metal stairs. Enter a hole in the wall on the left. Be mindful of the hanging cans used to alert the bandits. Take the stairs on the left down and turn right at the bottom of the stairs. Keep heading straight until you reach the upgrade sitting on a crate on the right side of a room filled with beds.

 

Throwing Weapons Harness (Upgrade 4)

Head to the gas station on the east side of the central land mass. From the front entrance head into the gas station and look for a locked door. Shoot the lock off the door and head through it to reach a dark room. The upgrade is in the back left of the room on a metal shelf next to a locker.

 

Reinforced Helmet (Upgrade 5)

From Safe House 6, head southeast towards the water. Cross the water using the submerged tracks to the left of a boat dock. Once on the other side, turn right towards the ruins of a large structure. Head past the blue truck and into a small room on the right side of the structure to find this upgrade.

 

Battery Charge Controller (Upgrade 6)

From Safe House 4, head south to the small shed past the central structure to find a generator. To start the generator, you will need to retrieve the gas can behind the shed. Once started, head into the central structure and work your way through the building until you locate a person lying on a table who was being electrocuted. The upgrade is located on the body of this person.

 

Metal Detector (Upgrade 7)

This upgrade is located on the large island in the southeast corner of the map. From the giant cylinder where the teddy bear was, head west until you come across a small shack. The upgrade is located inside on a desk to the left.

 

Night Vision (Upgrade 8)

Located in the large warehouse to the northeast. To enter the building you will need to find the boat a short ways to the south at a dock and sail to the building through a broken section of the wall accessible via water. After you dock the boat in the building follow the path forward until you reach a set of metal stairs leading to an arched wooden door. You will need the key obtained from saving some cultists at a bandit camp (which was located in the fortified structure with a gate in the northeast slightly east of a safe house where you received the Folded Letter and Ammo Pouches) to unlock the door. The upgrade is located on an altar on the right side of the room.

 

The Caspian

 

Motion Scanner (Upgrade 9)

Metro Exodus – The Volga Collectibles (Diaries, Postcards and Upgrades)

Postcard 3

When you gain control of Artyom after escaping the church (thanks to Nastya and Katya), turn right heading past some wooden stairs leading up to arrive at another set of stairs leading down. Take those stairs to the bottom and enter the doorway straight ahead. In this room head past the sunflower tablecloth on the left and take the yellow ladder up to the next level. Head past the bunk beds on the right until you come to the bunk bed on the back wall with a toy in front of it. The postcard is on the archway to the right. Alternatively, stand on the bridge facing the platform where the preacher was giving his sermon in the church. Head left and take another left at the box of books. Take the first right into the room containing hanging laundry and climb up the yellow ladder on the left side of the room. Take this ladder up and head past the bunk beds on the right until you come to the bunk bed on the back wall with a toy in front of it. The postcard is on the archway to the right.

 

Compass (Upgrade 1)

After almost being eaten by the giant catfish, Duke will pull you out of the water. Head to the plane he mentioned behind him and work your way up towards the cockpit. The upgrade will be between the two pilot chairs.

 

Mouldy Log (Diary 1)

After almost being eaten by the giant monster, Duke will pull you out of the water. Head behind Duke towards the crashed plane and then turn left towards the train. The diary will be located on a sleeping mat next to a corpse in a broken piece of the plane.

 

Water-Logged Note (Diary 2)

Head south from the train until you come across Safe House 1. Right before you reach the safe house you will see a glowing orb circling a large dead tree. There will be a hole next to the smaller dead tree beside this which you will need to drop down. After you drop down into the hole, head through the open doorway and follow the right path to another doorway. Head straight until you reach the wall and turn right to find yet another doorway. Shoot the lock off the door and head inside the room. The diary will be located to the left on a crate in the back of the room next to a bed.

 

Faded Note (Diary 3)

Standing at the base of the giant crane located in the south of the map, head north through the trainyard towards a ruined building. Follow the building right (east) until you reach a flight of stairs leading down (will be next to a door to enter the building). Head down the steps to and go through the door to enter the basement of the building. The diary will be straight ahead on a wooden shelving unit next to a blue locker.

 

Postcard 4

This postcard is located near the door on the wall of Krest’s house (Safe House 4) located at the very top of the crane.

 

Folded Letter (Diary 4)

Locate a fortified structure northeast of the main continent slightly east of Safe House 5. From the gated entrance of the building, head up the metal stairs. Enter a hole in the wall on the left. Be mindful of the hanging cans used to alert the bandits. Take the stairs on the left down and head straight. Head to the end of the room and turn right. It will be on a table next to a skinned chicken.

 

Ammo Pouches (Upgrade 3)

Instead of heading straight ahead from the bottom of the stairs for the above collectible, turn right at the bottom of the stairs. Keep heading straight until you reach the upgrade sitting on a crate on the right side of a room filled with beds.

 

Sturdy Envelope (Diary 5)

From the outside gate of the previous collectible, follow the railroad tracks heading east. You will pass under a bridge. Keep heading along the tracks to reach a destroyed van (first vehicle) on the right containing this diary.

 

Throwing Weapons Harness (Upgrade 4)

Head to the gas station on the east side of the central land mass. From the front entrance head into the gas station and look for a locked door. Shoot the lock off the door and head through it to reach a dark room. The upgrade is in the back left of the room on a metal shelf next to a locker.

 

Weathered Notice (Diary 6)

From the above collectible, continue into the windowed room and the diary will be on a metal shelf.

 

Faded Note (Diary 7)

From Safe House 6, head southwest to the large circular turntable. Find the red shipping container in the southwest corner of the large metal structure (on the west side of the turntable) that leads up into the metal support beams of a ruined structure. Head straight up the beams until you reach the yellow ladder on the right. Climb up the ladder and the diary will be next to the corpse on a crate.

 

Bandit’s Note (Diary 8)

From the western dock behind the gas station, enter the boat and head west until you come to a small island. The diary will be in the middle of the island on wooden planks.

 

Postcard 5

The postcard is located right behind the door when you enter Safe House 7.  See the location of the postcard inside the safe house in the image below.

 

Torn Page (Diary 9)

The diary is located right next to the above collectible on the shelving unit on top of gas cans.

 

Postcard 6

The postcard is located on a wall straight ahead after entering Safe House 10.

 

Night Vision (Upgrade 8)

The upgrade is located in the large warehouse to the northeast. To enter the building you will need to find the boat a short ways to the south at a dock and sail to the building through a broken section of the wall accessible via water. After you dock the boat in the building follow the path forward until you reach a set of metal stairs leading to an arched wooden door. You will need the key obtained from saving some cultists at a bandit camp (which was located in the fortified structure with a gate in the northeast slightly east of a safe house where you received the Folded Letter and Ammo Pouches) to unlock the door. The upgrade is located on an altar on the right side of the room.

 

Thick Ledger (Diary 10)

This diary is located in the same large warehouse as the above collectible. Work your way to the end of the building. Just before the exit (large red door) enter the fenced room with the barbed wire to find the diary laying on a chair to the left of the altar. (Note: In this room, you can also kill the giant catfish to earn a trophy by using the trap on the right side of the altar.)

 

Dusty Workbook (Diary 11)

Locate a red shipping crate north of the train tracks in the center of the map. The diary will be located on the desk next to a corpse.

 

Extended Filter (Upgrade 2)

From the above collectible, the upgrade is located in the very back of the room.

Postcard 7

After you leave the tugboat, work your way through the cultist tower. Take a lift up to a higher level and enter an open courtyard where the preacher is giving a sermon. Follow the path right going on the other side of a wall next to the edge of a tower, taking out a single enemy there. Hop up on the log and walk straight across until you reach the end and come to a locked door. Shoot the lock off the door and keep following the path forward. When you reach the room at the end of the path, head left through the doorway. There will be an enemy on the stairs that you will need to deal with. The postcard will be on the log wall next to a lit fire.

Metro Exodus – Moscow Collectibles (Diaries and Postcards)

Half-Torn Notebook

After you encounter the first enemy of the game, follow the subway tunnel until another Watchmen appears. Defeat it and you will find the diary to the right of the tunnel on a desk next to a lit candle.

 

Patient File

After you gain control of Artyom in the doctor’s office, the diary will be on the first desk on your right next to a lit candle.

 

Postcard 1

After you gain control of Artyom, follow the path forward until you reach the green door where Anna and Miller are arguing. Do not enter through this door.  The postcard is located to the right of the door on a green cabinet.

 

Postcard 2

In the first mission where you team up with Anna, follow her down a flight of stairs. Do not continue down the stairs. Instead, head down the hallway to the right and enter a room. The postcard is in the kitchen next to the window above the beer calendar.

 

Dusty Diary

From the previous postcard, turn right into the living room connected to the kitchen. The diary will be on an end table next to the couch.

 

Shopping List

In the first mission where you team up with Anna and after the first enemy encounter, this diary will be found on a corpse leaning on a door of a bookstore, left of the arcade machine and across from the old salon. If you reach the escalators, then you have gone too far.

 

Shura’s Note

In the first mission where you team up with Anna and after the first enemy encounter, you will pass an old hair salon arriving at an escalator. Head down the escalator and enter the bus to find the diary sitting on a seat to the right of the bus’ door.

 

Crumpled Letter

After getting separated from Anna, crawl under a pile of logs. The diary will be straight ahead next to a corpse covered in snow.

 

Official Note

After reuniting with Anna and the cutscene finishes, this diary is on the radio jammer in the room where you gain control of Artyom.

 

Memo

After reuniting with Anna and sneaking through the outdoor courtyard, you will enter a red door to continue on with the level. Follow the path straight to find the diary on a green desk to the left.

 

Official Letter

After boarding the enemy train and taking out the enemy through the window, head to the left to enter the train car and take out the two enemies. The diary will be on a workbench near the doorway.

 

Crumpled Note

After entering the train car with the mounted machine gun, head to the next car and the diary will be on a crate immediately to your right after entering this car.
