The Forgotten City – Silver Tongue Trophy

by Chappie in

For the Silver Tongue trophy, you’ll need to talk your way through every possible confrontation. In The Forgotten City, the confrontations are with Naevia, Khabash and the God of the Underworld.

Naevia

When speaking with Naevia, select the following dialog:

  • This has nothing to do with me.
  • It’s not just this statue whispering to me. A lot of them do it. But it’s always the same voice.
  • It’s like someone else is whispering to me through the statues.
  • No, I swear.
  • I ended up here by accident. All I want to do is leave.
  • I got trapped in tunnels under the city and came up inside the Palace.
  • I never had any intention of hurting you.
  • Wait! I can undo this.
  • I can wind back time, and make it so that I never came in here.
  • I’m re-living the same day over and over again.
  • I just need to get back to the shrine of Proserpina.
  • Because you’ll never remember this conversation.

Khabash

When speaking with Khabash, select the following dialog:

  • There’s no need for this to end in violence.
  • Just hear me out…
  • If something can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be destroyed by the truth.
  • Isn’t being a good person a worthwhile pursuit, in and of itself?
  • Even if your beliefs about the afterlife weren’t quite accurate, isn’t the important thing they motivated you to live good lives?
  • Are you going to abandon a lifetime of good character, now that it matters most, just because you found out you were misled?

or

  • There’s no need for this to end in violence.
  • Just hear me out…
  • There’s no shame in building on the works of people who came before you.
  • If gods exist, itsn’t it possible they each have more than one “true” name?
  • Isn’t being a good person a worthwhile pursuit, in and of itself?
  • Even if your beliefs about the afterlife weren’t quite accurate, isn;t the important thing they motivate you to live good lives?
  • Are you going to abandon a lifetime of good character, now that it matters most, just because you found out you were misled?

or

  • There’s no need for this to end in violence.
  • Just hear me out…
  • I’m just trying to replace all the plaques taken from the desecrated obelisk.
  • Just to restore honour to the god of the Underworld (Lie)
  • If gods exist, isn’t it possible they each have more than one “true” name?
  • Isn’t being a good person a worthwhile pursuit, in and of itself?
  • Even if your beliefs about the afterlife weren’t quite accurate, isn’t the important thing they motivated you to live good lives?
  • Are you going to abandon a lifetime of good character, now that it matters most, just because you found out you were misled?

God of the Underworld

When speaking with the God of the Underworld, exhaust all the dialog options under “What’s your story?” and “What is this place?” When you choose “Are you responsible for The Golden Rule?”, go through each of the dialog options except for “I’ve seen some terrible things here that you didn’t consider a sin. How could you let them happen?”. Choose “That’s all the questions I had”. From there, choose the options below:

  • I’m from the future.
  • I was hoping you could tell me. (Lie)
  • Shouldn’t you know this, as the God of the Underworld?
  • I’d like you to put an end to The Golden Rule.
  • How can you expect us to live without sin, if you can’t do it yourself?
  • You’ve given terrible punishments to hundreds of people, some for minor sins, and some who committed no sins at all.
  • If our positions were reversed, you wouldn’t want me to punish you for the sins of the other people.
  • No.
  • What makes your kind superior to mine?
  • Why does wisdom and technology make you superior?
  • So you think you’re not obliged to treat us fairly, because you’re more powerful than us?
  • What was it the Romans Stoics said? “Treat your inferior as you would wish your superior to treat you.”
  • But didn’t you say Jupiter was your leader? There’s a hierarchy within your kin.
  • So are you treating humans the way you would wish Jupiter to treat you?
  • I’m saying: If you can’t follow your own rule, how can you expect humans to?
  • You’re not a monster. You’re a human, and you made a mistake.
  • Humans make mistakes. It’s in our nature.
  • Perhaps he made a mistake too.
  • Perhaps when you took on human form, you took on some human foibles as well.
  • We just want to return to the world.
  • Why?
  • I’m ready.

The Forgotten City – How to get each of the four endings?

by Chappie in

Below is our guide on how to get each of the four endings in The Forgotten City.

Ending 1 – The Many Shall Suffer

To get this ending you will need to kill Sentius. This can be done by getting the bow from the Straight as an Arrow lead and using it to shoot him.

Ending 2 – The One That Got Away

For this ending you’ll need to reach the upper cistern. You can do this by getting the key from Duli via A Virtuous Man lead then head to the cave behind the Great Temple and use the key to unlock the door. Alternatively, you just need to obtain the golden bow then head to the lower cistern near Malleolus’ Villa. Once inside, follow the path forward taking the first left to end up in a circular room. You can then use the golden bow to shoot the vines hanging from the center of that room to climb up to the upper cistern. Once there free the prisoner and buy them some time by distracting their captor. This will allow them to sneak up behind the captor and finish them off.

Ending 3 – The Ones That Got Away

Ending 3 requires you to locate the captive in the upper cistern but tell them that you will not free them because the others will die. You will then need to break The Golden Rule to reset the loop during which you can tell Galerius to round up the citizens and meet you in the cistern. Afterwards, head back to captive and free them then follow the objectives to reach the end.

Ending 4 – The Canon Ending

To get the final and canon ending, you’ll need to locate the Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Mystery plaques then use them to enter the Great Temple. From there head to the end of the temple and shoot the girl in the glass case to the right of the throne. Take her crown then reset the loop and return to the temple. Throw it at feet of the ruler then complete the dialog options and follow the rest of the objectives.

The Forgotten City – The Roman Plaque

by Chappie in

Obtained: Automatically after completing The Common Thread main goal and is tied to A Herculean Task

Objective: Find the Roman plaque

Ask Rufius about the Roman plaque

Speak with Rufius and ask him about the Roman plaque. Encourage him by reminding him that you helped treat his rheumatism (if you completed A Thorn in the Paw lead). He’ll give you a Key to the Secret Shrine.

Ask Malleolus about the Roman plaque

If you ask Malleolus about the plaque, he’ll say that if he had it, he would sell it to you. If you kill him, you will be able to loot the shrine key from his body. With the key in hand, make your way to the amphitheater (left of the baths) and follow the path through an old archway. Keep heading forward, sticking to the right path. This will bring you to down a set of stairs and to a torch on the right just before a barrel. You want to take the narrow path just past the barrel, which will lead you to the locked shrine. Use the key to open the door then grab the Roman plaque from the table.

Ask Octavia about the Roman plaque

You can ask her about it but she will refuse to tell you where it is even if you try to blackmail her about her religion.

Figure out a way into the locked shrine

For this one, you’ll need the golden bow. Enter the tavern and head to the other side of the room across from Aurelia at the bar. Work your way past a pedestal with a gold statue on it then head through the doorway. Take a right and head up the stairs following the path left. This will bring you to a wooden shack in a cave. Keep moving past the shack then take next right and continue following the path forward. At this point you should have went up a hill and entered a part of the cavern with five golden statues. Head forward a little farther to reach a wall with vines growing down it. Shoot the vines with the golden bow then climb up it. Drop down in the locked shrine area below to find the Roman plaque on the table.

The Forgotten City – The Egyptian Plaque

by Chappie in

Obtained: Automatically after completing The Common Thread main goal and is tied to A Herculean Task

Objective: Find the Egyptian plaque

Ask Aurelia about Khabash

Speak with Aurelia in the tavern about Khabash to learn that he is with Georgius. Also, you can head up the stairs behind the tavern and take a left through the first doorway heading through the next doorway to find a Note from Khabash under the bed. Speak with Georgius in the bazaar to be sent to the shrine of Demeter (right of the bathhouse). Head behind the Greek Statue of a Woman on the right to find a small doorway. Crouch through it and follow the pathway to the end to reach a large open cavern with a Stranger sitting in it.

Ask the old man if he’s seen Khabash

Speak with the Stranger in the hidden underground cavern in the shrine to the right of the bathhouse behind the Greek Statue of a Woman. After asking him about Khabash, he’ll give you the Key to the Catacombs and tells you to chase after him, warning that he will be aggressive. Speaking with the old man first will cancel out the “Ask Aurelia about Khabash” objective.

Enter the catacombs

He’ll give you the Egyptian Plaque, which will resolve this lead.
