Welcome to NGB and our Shin Megami Tensei V (SMTV Vengeance) guide on the subquests found at Shinagawa in SMT V. Here you’ll find everything you’ll need to easily breeze through these quests! Please note that this guide has been updated to reflect the original SMTV content along with the new additions from SMTV Vengeance!

Shinagawa Subquests

A Goddess Stolen

Client: Jack Frost – Fairy Village

Reward: Small Glory Crystal x2

Summary: Rescue Idun from Loki’s home in the mountains

This subquest is available after completing A Golden Opportunity main quest. From North Shinagawa leyline, follow the eastern path northwest around the edge of the map to come to the giant overpass above South Shinagawa. Follow the overpass to end up in a cave where Loki has the goddess trapped. Approach Loki to start a fight with him. He is level 36! He’s weak to light, blocks ice, resists force and dark and uses fire, electric, force and ice attacks. After defeating him, you’ll be given a choice about eating the apple. It doesn’t matter either way as you’ll just get slightly different dialog. Whatever you decide, return to Jack Frost and speak with it to complete the quest. Megami Idun will now be unlocked for fusion!

A Wish for a Fish

Client: Nekomata – Container Yard

Reward: Beast Talisman x1

Summary: Bring fish from a cold-storage warehouse to Nekomata

Speak with the large demon in a building in the southeastern part of the Container Yard. Speaking with it will trigger a fight with Level 28 King Frost. It’s weak to Dark and Fire, drains Ice and resists Light. It also uses Ice attacks. Defeat it to be presented with a choice. You can either select to finish him and take the fish or let him go. If you let him go, he’ll give you the fish. Once you have the fish, return to Nekomata. Since we saved King Frost, we were able to unlock Tyrant King Frost for fusion as an additional reward for this quest.

Birds of a Feather

Client: Koppa Tengu – Tennozu Isle

Reward: Feng Huang’s Essence x1

Summary: Obtain a Giant Bird’s Feather

In order for this subquest to trigger, you’ll need to speak with Cait Sith along the river in Fairy Village. This bird can be reached by climbing up to the very top of the shipping containers via the ones at the south end of the Container Yard. Stand on the objective marker and wait until it attacks you! The Thunderbird is Level 35. It is weak to Force, blocks Electric and can use Electric and Force attacks along with lowering your party’s evasion and accuracy. Defeat it then return to the Koppa Tengu near the Tennozu Isle Leyline Fount to complete the quest.

Brawny Ambitions II

Client: Hare of Inaba

Reward: UMA Talisman x1

Summary: Deliver a Xiezhai that can use Puncture Punch (Recommended Level: 31)

The Brawny Ambitions II subquest is a SMTV Vengence subquest! In order to acquire a Xiezhai, head to the World of Shadows and do a fusion to summon it. We used Inugami and Attis. Alternatively, you can use Nezha Taizi and Feng Huang. For additional options try the Revers Compendium Fusion and look for the Xiezhai, which is Level 29.

Once you’ve fused your Xiezhai, level it to Level 31, which is the level it can learn Puncture Punch. Once you’ve finished this, return to Hare of Inaba to complete the Brawny Ambitions II subquest.

Can I Keep Them?

Client: Lilim – Konan 4th Block

Reward: Lilim’s Essence x1

Summary: Capture 10 Mothman

Lilim can be found behind the punishing enemy. Speak with her to accept the quest. The Mothman can be found through Konan 3rd Block and Konan 4th Block. Defeat 10 of them in battle then return to Lilim and speak with her to complete the quest.

Chakra Drop Chomp

Client: Kodama – Tennozu

Reward: Jirae Talisman x1

Summary: Find 2 Chakra Drops

Your fairy pal, Amanozako, likes to pick them up from the ground. Look for her waving her hands saying “Hey, hey, hey” to possibly have a chance to obtain them. Once you have 2, return to Kodama to hand them over.

Heart of Garnet

Client: Male Student

Reward: Bead x2

Summary: Eliminate Vouivre and obtain her jewel eye

Follow along the river to the east. You’ll find the demon near the North Shinagawa leyline. Level 40 Vouivre is weak to Ice. She attacks with poison and deals extra damage to those who are poisoned. After the battle, you’ll have the option to either kill her or let her go. If you let her go, the quest giver will die. Yoko likes this option, whereas Tao doesn’t.

Holding the Line

Client: Principality – Container Yard

Reward: Light Sutra x1

Summary: Eliminate Lilim

Lilim can be found in a building on the west side of Shinagawa Pier. Speak with her and choose to hear her out to get a counter offer via the Those Seeking Sanctuary subquest. If you decide to side with Principality, speak with her and select to support the other side. This will trigger a fight with 6 Level 32 Lilim. She’s weak to Ice, blocks Electric and can inflict the charm status ailment. Defeat them then return to Principality and speak with him. He will then join you!

Iced Out

Client: Jack Frost – Mitatebashi

Reward: Muscle Drink x1

Summary: Find 3 Ice Gems

You can obtain them as a reward from Gustave for finding 75 Miman. Click here for a guide on where to find all the Miman based on location.

Infiltrate the Demon Feast

Client: Ichiro Dazai

Reward: Segata III Game Console x1

Summary: Borrow Amanozako’s power to search an area where he thinks a human’s been taken to. (Recommended Level: 23)

*This request must be completed before a certain point in the main quest or it will be canceled.*

The Infiltrate the Demon Feast subquest is only available in SMTV Vengeance. After accepting the quest, speaking with Ichiro will automatically launch into a discussion with Amanozako. If you need to wait until later, there is an option for that, but just be mindful that this is a timed quest.

After the quick event with the vending machine, head down and speak with the demon succubus. You’ll get a prompt to ask questions or just go along with it. We chose the latter. Next, interact with the door, Teddy Bear Demon, air conditioning unit and water.

Throw some macca in the water to reveal a mermaid. Afterwards, head south and interact with the bloodstain on the ground. 3 demons will appear and block the path. Interact with the water again get the mermaid to be a distraction. Head up the newly opened path to trigger a cutscene. We chose to save the human, but the choice didn’t matter as the human dies anyway. You’ll then engage in a battle against Level 23 Yakshini who is weak to Electric and blocks Force.

After you defeat the demon, you’ll interact with Ichiro to which we responded that we had to try and the Infiltrate the Demon Feast quest completed.

Keeper of the South

Client: Zouchouten – South Shinagawa

Reward: Large Glory Crystal x1

Summary: Defeat Zouchouten

After completing The Ancient Guardian subquest, you’ll be able to speak with Zouchouten to accept the quest. To reach, him travel to the North Shinagawa leyline then look for the sand path in the southeastern part of the map then follow it. Once you accept, you’ll begin a battle with a level 65 Zouchouten. He’s weak to force and blocks light. He uses electric, physical and almighty skills. Defeat him to complete the quest. You’ll also receive his essence.

Kumbhanda’s Bottle

Client: Succubus – Konan 2nd Block

Reward: Night Talisman x1

Summary: Defeat Kumbhanda

Succubus can be found west of the parking garage near the center of Konan 2nd Block. Agree to her request. You can find Kumbhanda on the first floor of the parking garage. Defeat him to obtain the bottle. He’s level 34 and resists dark, blocks force and is weak to electric. He also uses physical and force attacks. Once you obtain the bottle, return to Succubus to complete the quest.

Magic from the East

Client: Baphomet – Shinagawa Pier

Reward: Vile Talisman x1

Summary: Decapitate 5 Inugami

Baphomet can be found northwest of the Container Yard leyline. Defeat the Inugami who can be found in Shinagawa Pier to collect their heads. Once you’ve obtained all 5, return to Baphomet and speak with him to complete the quest.

Pixie on the Case

Client: Pixie

Reward: Unwrit Neutral Periapt x1

Summary: Find the culprit who stole a silver fruit.

The Pixie on the Case subquest is only found in SMTV Vengeance! When you’re ready to begin, speak with the Pixie to begin the investigation. Speak with the Unicorn first to hear her side of the story. Next, talk to the group of Pixies. Next, speak with the Agathion. Lastly, speak with Jack-o’-Lantern and Jack Frost. After speaking with everyone, you’ll then need to review the statements. Jack-o’-Lantern is the culprit! After completing the quest, you’ll also receive 100 Glory.

Song of Nostalgia

Client: Kinmamon

Reward: Enigma Talisman x1

Summary: Gather information about the song of Kinmamon is trying to remember. There might be someone in Tokyo who is familiar with it.

Make your way to the Tokyo map and speak with the Female Student by the Jouin Dorm. Afterwards, return to Kinmamon and it’ll quiz you.

Supply Run

Client: Yuzuru Atsuta

Reward: Force Gems x5

Summary: Deliver Life Stone Chain x2, Chakra Drop

This is a SMTV Vengeance subquest. For this quest, you’ll need to hand over 2 Life Stone Chains and a Chakra Drop to heal the demon. These items can be found on the ground at the places Amanozako points out. Afterwards, the quest will complete.

The Falcon’s Head

Client: Isis – Fairy Village

Reward: Lady Talisman x1

Summary: Defeat Horus in Sotokanda and deliver his head to Isis

You can retrieve this quest after speaking with the demon called Fionn mac Cumhaill who is in the center of the map standing next to a vending machine in Uchikanda.

Horus is level 46 and can be found in Suehirocho at the top of the path along the map’s edge.

It’s weak to force and dark, resists electric and fire and reflects light. Once you defeat it, return to Isis to complete the quest.

The One I Love

Client: Incubus – North Shinagawa

Reward: Grimoire x3

Summary: Deliver Incubus’s letter to Silky in the Fairy Village

Silky is wearing the long red dress near the king and queen in the Fairy Village. Upon hearing her thoughts, return to Incubus to relay them. The quest will complete. If you hand him 5,000 Macca, he’ll give you Magic Incense.

The Root of the Problem

Client: Silky – Fairy Village

Reward: Fairy Talisman x1

Summary: Find 8 Mandrake Roots near the Fairy Village

After you complete A Golden Opportunity main quest, you’ll be able to obtain this subquest. The Mandrake Root can be found north of the Fairy Village in Gotenyama. Defeat 8 of them then return to Silky to complete the subquest. **If you don’t complete this quest before the story events of the Fairy Village conclude, then you’ll have an opportunity later to complete it!**

The Tyrant of Tennozu

Client: Demeter – Konan 2nd Block

Reward: 15,000 Macca

Summary: Eliminate the Tyrant in Tennozu

Fast travel to the Tennozu Leyline Fount and head east to the highway. From the top of the highway follow it south, jumping over the fence in the middle to take the spiral path that winds up the mountain. At the top of the mountain, you’ll encounter a demon sitting on a toilet. Speak with it to trigger a fight with a level 38 Belphegor. It is weak to fire and light, resists physical and lightning and blocks ice and dark. After you defeat it, return to Demeter and speak with her to complete the quest. You’ll unlock Tyrant Belphegor for fusion.

Those Seeking Sanctuary

Client: Lilim – Shinagawa Pier

Reward: Dark Sutra x1

Summary: Eliminate Principality

When you speak with Lilim for the Holding the Line subquest, she’ll give you another option. If you side with her, head to Principality in the Container Yard and speak to him. This will lead to a battle with 2 Level 28 Principality. He’s weak to Dark and blocks Light. After you defeat them, return to Lilim and speak with her. She will then join you!

Tough Love

Client: Onyankopon

Reward: Virtuous Order Periapt x1

Summary: Defeat at least 2 Basilisks between the new moon and the full moon.

The Tough Love subquest is a SMTV Vengeance only subquest. When you’re ready, speak with Onyankopon to begin the hunt. Be watchful when Anansi shows you the map where the Basilisks spawn.

Head around and take out as many as you can to win! Afterwards, the Tough Love subquest will complete!
