Below are the side quests obtained from the Prologue in Bravely Default II! You may need to complete certain side quests for others to show up.
Quest 001: Borrowing the Boat
Obtained: After obtaining the White Mage and Vanguard jobs, speak with the Old Woman in a building up the first flight of stairs on the right side of Halcyonia leading up to the castle
Conditions: Take the boat out for a spin
After accepting the quest, a cutscene will trigger. This will lead into a tutorial on exploration in the game. The quest will complete automatically at the end.
Reward: Teleport Stone x2
Quest 002: A Knife to Remember
Obtained: Speak with the fisherman in the tavern on the right side of Halcyonia
Conditions: Recover the fisherman’s knife from the sahagin x1
Travel to the beach near the ship wreckage to find a pack of Sahagin. Defeat them to obtain the knife then return it to the fisherman in the tavern. After the cutscene, the quest will automatically complete.
Reward: Dart x3
Quest 003: Human’s Best Friend: Part 1
Obtained: Automatically after exiting Halcyonia
Conditions: Cut the grass and find Truff’s ring
Follow the road a short ways taking a left at the fork. The ring can be found in the section of grass across the road from the soldier that is closer to the road. Use Y to cut the grass. After speaking with Truff, you’ll need to press Y to get a drop on the monsters that spawn then defeat them. Truff will then speak with you again. Afterwards, report the quest to complete it.
Reward: Small Experience Orb x2
Quest 004: You-Know-What
Obtained: Speak with the boy behind the rock outside of Halcyonia at night along the path leading to the abandoned house
Conditions: Obtain some potions x3
You can purchase the potions for 40pg each at the item shop. After you acquire the 3 potions, hand them over to the guy to complete the quest.
Reward: Mini Ether x4
Quest 005: One Boy’s Quest
Obtained: Speak with a lady on the bridge in Halcyonia
Conditions: Search town for the boy
Follow the path into town and take a left at the base of the stairs leading up to the castle. A short ways to the left there will be a set of stairs leading down. Follow the path to the building at the end with the yellow cone roof. Enter the building and speak with the boy. Return to the lady and report the quest.
Reward: Echo Herbs x3
Quest 006: Business to be Getting on With
Obtained: Speak with the girl standing at the base of the stairs leading to the castle in Halcyonia (at night)
Conditions: Defeat some goblins x3
Exit Halcyonia and defeat 3 goblins wondering around. Afterwards, return to the girl at night to report back and complete the quest.

Quest 007: Dish of the Day
Obtained: Speak with Adelle at the Inn in Halcyonia
Conditions: Defeat Fenrir x1
Fenrir can be found outside of Halcyonia by the Abandoned House. Approach it for a short cutscene. Note that the enemy is weak to Blizzard and can counter physical attacks. Use Seth’s special then blast away at it using Elvis’ ice magic to make quick work of the enemy. After you defeat Fenrir, return to the inn to report the quest.
Reward: Fresh Fish x2
Quest 008: Presentation is Everything
Obtained: Speak with the old woman in the castle at Halcyonia
Conditions: Collect some sprigs of motley trefoil x3
The Motley Trefoil can be found in the very northern part of the area on the ground. Once you’ve collected all 3 sprigs, return to the old woman at the castle to report back.
Reward: Small JP Orb x3
Quest 009: Double Dare
Obtained: Speak with the boy near the item shop in Halcyonia (at night)
Conditions: Get the frightened boy’s book back x1
Travel to the Abandoned House outside of Halcyonia and head inside. Follow the path forward and enter the first doorway on the right to find the book on a table. Examine it to obtain the Enspooklopaedia. Return to the boy at night to report back.
Reward: Booster Bun (Evasion) x2
Quest 010: A Grizzly Conundrum
Obtained: Speak with the guy behind a rock along the river east of the Abandoned House
Conditions: Get rid of the grizzly x1
The grizzly bear is located west of the guy and will be accompanied by 2 goblin archers. Defeat all of them then return to the guy to report back.
Reward: Mythril Staff x1
Quest 011: Hear the Wind Blow
Obtained: Speak with a lady near the bridge in Halcyonia
Conditions: Find the old man who’s fond of the wind
Follow the path into town and take a left at the base of the stairs leading up to the castle. A short ways to the left there will be a set of stairs leading down. Speak with the old man then return to the lady on the bridge. Return to the old man then head back to the lady one last time to report the quest.
Reward: Ward Light x2
