Obtained: Examine the robot in the crew quarters section of the Unreliable after heading to space for the first time.
Objective(s):

- Install the Acid Steeper
Ask ADA about the SAM Unit
Head to the bridge and talk with ADA to ask her about the automechanical in the janitor’s closet.
Search Hawthorne’s Terminal
Head up to the captain’s quarters and interact with the terminal. Choose the “Search Term: SAM” option then view all three of the SAM results.
Find an Acid Sweeper
Head to Roseway (unlocks during The Distress Signal side quest) and follow the objective south of the Roseway Landing Pad to reach the Storage Facility. Enter through the main door and turn left. Head through the doorway and take the first right available to enter a room with a high ceiling. Move through the second doorway on the left coming to a locked door on your right. If you can’t lock pick the locked door, to the right it there will be an Armory Note on the wall. Examine the note to learn that the code can be found at the front desk at the Auntie-Biotics Lab or obtained from Masha. Head back out into the high ceiling room and look for the yellow ladder near where you first entered the room. Climb up the ladder and follow the path forward, defeating the robots as you go. At the end of the path, you will find a corpse that has the code. Head back down to the locked door and use the code to open it. The Acid Steeper will be on the bottom shelf to the left when you first walk into the room.
Install the Acid Steeper
Head back to the Unreliable and give the part to SAM to complete the quest.
