Gamer’s Log: 2018 End of the Year Edition

by Chappie in

Hey everyone, Chappie here with a special end of the year Gamer’s Log. I hope everyone has had a good holiday so far and wish everyone the very best moving into the new year. Looking back over 2018, it’s been 10 months since NightlyGamingBinge launched in February and in that time I have conquered 30 games (listed below), wrote 7 reviews, created game guides for 7 amazing games, and posted 12 gamer’s logs. I feel that with all this content, my writing has definitely improved since the launch of the site, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings. If you haven’t noticed, I have updated the theme of the blog a bit and moved around how some things look to make them more mobile friendly (I’m talking to you game guide page), but that’s just the beginning of what’s to come. I’m going to keep working on growing this blog by adding more gaming guides, writing more game reviews and adding new content in the coming year. I also wanted to take this time to thank everyone that has used the blog as well as the people who provided me with what content they would like to see and suggestions on what I could do to make the blog better. It’s with your help that I have made it this far, and I am truly grateful. I also wanted to give a shoutout to my lovely wife who has been my editor this year and is doing an amazing job at it might I add. With that, this Gamer’s Log comes to a close.  Have a Happy New Year, Chappie signing out!

Gamer’s Log 010

by Chappie in

BLOG

What’s going on everyone? Chappie here with the latest Gamer’s Log. Let’s kick things off by talking about Dragon Quest XI. After 120 hours of game time, I have managed to post the last remaining guides for side quests in the game. That puts us at 60 side quest guides, one for each quest in the game. There is one more guide I’m thinking about posting regarding building up the main character’s hometown, but I’m still on the fence about that. Going forward, I am planning on posting some guides for Red Dead Redemption 2, but that all depends on if I feel the guides are needed. With that, let’s jump into the games.

GAMES

Since the last Gamer’s Log, I have managed to beat Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and finished up the post-game of Dragon Quest XI earning the platinum trophy in both. I ended Assassin’s Creed with 100 hours of game time and Dragon Quest XI with 120 hours. From there, I picked up Starlink Battle for Atlas on Switch and Soul Calibur VI on PS4, which I have been playing for the last week. I bought 3 additional ships and all the weapons for Starlink and have be using Star Fox as my pilot (only reason I bought the game on the Switch). So far, the game feels like an old Star Fox game where you fly around in space from planet to planet. On each planet, you will be tasked with helping the locals fend off the evil Legion while exploring and collecting materials. The Switch version also has additional side missions focused on Star Fox and his crew as they hunt down Wolf. Shifting gears to Soul Calibur VI, I have played through the game’s story mode and each side story for all of the game’s playable characters (except Tira as I haven’t bought the season pass yet). The story mode follows Kilik who’s destiny has been tied to the Soul Edge and only took a couple of hours to beat. The side stories take place between the main story and focus on what the other characters were doing throughout the story. So far my favorite characters to play are Geralt, Talim, and Sophitia. I will talk more about Starlink and Soul Calibur VI in the future as well as Red Dead Redemption which comes out later this week. Until next time, Chappie signing off!

Dragon Quest XI – Richie’s Rock-Hard Roulette Challenge

by Chappie in

Location:  This quest can be found in Octagonia.

Objective: Prove to Richie you are a True God of Gambling

*NOTE: To get this quest, you will need to talk to the little girl on the steps leading up to the Octagonia Casino in Act III. To prove to Richie you are a true god of gambling, you will need to hit the jackpot at one of the roulette tables. There’s really no way to make it happen, so it’s really up to chance. The best method I found was to put one chip on each number and keep playing until I hit the jackpot. Once you do manage to hit jackpot on roulette, talk with Richie to complete the quest.

Reward: Vest for Success
