Please note that this guide has been updated to reflect the original SMTV content along with the new additions from SMTV Vengeance!
Eliminate the remnants of Lucifer’s army that are hiding nearby
At the start of The Angel’s Request, head south and drop down into a little area. Follow that path as it swings around to the west. Along the way, you’ll come across an Abscess. Approach it to start a battle with two Level 19 Shiisaa. They resist Force and Electric skills while being weak to Fire skills. The demons also use Electric skills. Defeat them then continue on towards the Tokyo Diet Building. When you reach your destination, interact with the leyline to unlock it. Before interacting with the angels, now would be a good time to explore the area, collect chests, scout for Miman and defeat new demons. There are also some subquests you can pick up!

Talisman Hunt – Shiki-Ouji is southeast of the Nagatacho leyline
Movin’ on Up – Oni is west of Nagatacho leyline in a cave
When you’re ready to progress with the story, return to the leyline and speak with the angels. We chose to explain the situation, but regardless of your choice, the outcome is the same. Head to the northwest passing the Oni’s cave to locate the demons. Approach them to trigger battle with two Level 19 Andras and a Level 20 Eligor. Andras is weak to Electric and Light and blocks Ice. Eligor is weak to Electric, blocks Fire and resists Dark. After the fight, return to the angels to trigger a brief cutscene.
Next, head down the path leading to the Tokyo Diet Building. Before going inside, there are some chests and Miman you can collect in this area. Also, note that speaking with the red demon with 2 swords on the roof will reward you with the Jaki Talisman.
SMTV Vengeance: Just before the Tokyo Diet Building, you’ll spot a cluster of 3 demons lying on the ground. Interact with them to start the Home Sweet Home subquest. You’ll also find a corpse hanging from the lamppost outside of the building. Interact with it to receive the Aogami Type-2 Essence.

When you’re ready, enter the Tokyo Diet Building to trigger a cutscene leading to a fight with the Level 22 Lady Nuwa. She blocks Electric and Dark attacks, is weak to Fire and repels Force. Keep an eye out for her Sacrifice of Clay skill as it deals heavy Force damage to your whole party and lowers attack and defense. When you get her to half health, a cutscene will trigger. Exhaust all the dialog options then head up the stairs until another cutscene triggers. Afterwards, head into the room at the end of the hallway to trigger yet another cutscene.

Head into the Tokyo Tower area to trigger a cutscene where you’ll meet Goko. Before heading towards the Diet Building, you can swing around to the left of the Tokyo Tower following the southwestern path to reach Akabanebashi and also another section of Shiba. You can collect some chests and Miman in these two areas. There are also two power absorption points that you can interact with to level up your demons. They can in found at Akabanebashi near the path leading down to the water by a giant stone starfish and at the far eastern end of Shiba next to a petrified camera at the top of a ledge. Akabanebashi is also the next area for “The Cursed Mermaids” subquest.

Head northeast to reach Kamiyacho then make your way to the center of the city to find the Kamiyacho Leyline and interact with it to unlock it. Head northwest of the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount to reach another Abscess in West Shinbashi. Approach it to start a fight against a Level 17 Ippon-Datara. The demon resists Fire and is weak to Light skills. It also can move up to two times per turn and uses a Physical attack that can hit the whole part. With that out of the way, this would be a good time to explore Kamiyacho and West Shinbashi.

When you’re done exploring Kamiyacho and West Shinbashi, head east up the mountain from the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount into Shinbashi then follow the path heading left at the fork. As soon as you reach Onarimon, take the first right to find a leyline. Interact with it to unlock the Onarimon Leyline Fount. Feel free to pick up the To Cure a Curse subquest here then continue heading up the mountain to find the Abscess. Approach it to fight 3 Level 18 Leanan Sidhe. They block Dark skills and are weak to Force and Light skills. Another thing they can do is inflict the charm status ailment and use Dark attacks.
Once they are defeated, head to the top of the mountain to receive The Gold Dragon’s Arrival subquest. Also, note that there is a demon power absorption point in Onarimon that will level up all of your demons by 1 level. It can be found west of where you speak with the dragon after dropping down off a sand ledge.

SMTV Vengeance: Unfortunately you’ll find the angel outside of the city just as they were murdered by Naamah of the Qadistu. After the cutscene, you’ll face the Level 18 demon who uses Dark attacks and can charm the entire party. She’s weak to Physical, resists Fire, Ice, Electric, Force and blocks Dark. Head to Tokyo Tower
At the start of SMTV or SMTV Vengeance, travel north into the ruined city to trigger a cutscene where you’ll be transported to Cadaver’s Hollow and introduced to Gustave.
You’ll be able to purchase consumables from him if you’d wish then before leaving, Gustave will request that you send any Miman you find back to him. Head north down the road to come across your first Miman holding a red light just past the Tamachi Leyline Fount.
Speak with it to receive 5 Glory then return to Gustave in Cadever’s Hallow to obtain an Onmoraki’s Essence as a reward. Afterwards, head back to the city where you can do a little exploring!

Tamachi and Mita Miman (7 Total)
The locations of the Miman in Tamachi and Mita can be found in the image below.
To progress the objective, keep following the road north to come across the Pixie demon leading to the tutorial on recruiting. Recruit Pixie then keep following the road until you reach the fork in the road. If you take the left path, you’ll end up at a cave where you’ll receive the “A Preta Predicament” subquest. Taking and following the right path will bring you to Mita and cause a cutscene to trigger. When it concludes you’ll have to defeat 3 Preta. Use the Omagatoki: Critical skill along with Force / Fire / Light skills to make quick work of them. If you keep following the road northeast, you’ll eventually come to the Mita Leyline Fount. Before doing this we recommend collecting the items and Miman in this area. Also, keep an eye out for vending machines scattered around the area. You can receive relics from them that can be sold for Macca.
When you’re ready to proceed with the story, approach the Mita Leyline Fount to trigger a cutscene where you’ll be shown the tutorial on Miracles and Essence Fusion. Feel free to grab some if you have enough Glory from finding the Miman. Also note that after this cutscene completes, you’ll be able to start the “Return of the True Demon” substory if you purchased the DLC.
If playing Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, you’ll find a husk at the intersection next to the Mita Leyline Fount. Interact with it to receive Aogami Type-A.
When you return to the road, follow it northeast to find the Abscess. Before pushing ahead, you may want to recruit some more demons for your party. When you’re ready, head for the Abscess. Along the way, enemies will spawn to try and stop you from reaching it. When you do get there, you’ll face 3 Level 7 Mandrakes. They use Electric magic and are weak to Fire. If you have the Omagatoki: Critical skill available you can use that to make short work of the demons.
Keep following the road northeast to run into the Demon in Kimono again to trigger a cutscene. The demon will offer you a bead and you are prompted with a choice. Make your choice to finish the cutscene.
SMTV Vengeance: Next to the Demon in Kimono, Aogami will speak to you from a red circle on the ground. You’ll be given a quick tutorial on the Magatsu Rails, which connect two locations with Magatsuhi, allowing you to move quickly between them. Make sure to ride this rail to reach a new area with some collectible items!
Afterwards, continue heading along the road until you reach a train. This will trigger another cutscene.
SMTV Vengeance: During this cutscene, a new creature will appear and you’ll meet a new face, Yoko Hiromine. Unfortunately, this will prompt a boss fight against the Level 8 Glasya-Labolas. This creature can poison your team and it’s attacks can hit multiple times. It is weak to Electric and blocks Force. After the battle, you’ll be introduced to the new concept of guest characters!
Follow the train tracks north to reach the Shiba Leyline Fount where yet another cutscene will trigger with the Demon in Kimono.
SMTV Vengeance: After speaking with the Demon in Kimono, you’ll receive a tutorial for demon haunts and be transported to a new place. Demon haunts are where the allies you have made may gather. Here you’ll be able to talk to your allies and view them using the camera function. Guest party members and demon allies may also show up.
While in this demon haunt, sit on the bench for another tutorial. You can also give your allies gifts to increase your relationship with them!
As a side note, if you head to the World of Shadows from the Shiba Leyline Fount, you’ll unlock demon fusion which allows you to fuse your demons together to make stronger ones.
SMTV Vengeance: You’ll find a strong foe and another Magatsu Rail in the northern part of Shiba. Use the rail to reach a new area with some new demons and goodies! Be careful of battles in this area as some fights can trigger consecutive battles.
Before progressing with the story, now would be a great time to grab any chests and Miman in this area. You can also head east of the Shiba Leyline Fount to find a tunnel leading to a small area where you can pick up The Spirit of Love subquest. This is also the area where the missing Preta for the A Preta Predicament subquest can be found.

When you’re ready to continue on with the Shin Megami Tensei V story, head northwest of the Shiba Leyline.
SMTV Vengeance: In the area with all the ledges to climb up, you’ll find a Magatsu Rail. Take it to reach a new subquest called Brawny Ambitions! After accepting the quest, ride the rail back and continue a short ways forward to encounter a Magatsuhi demon. If you choose to fight this Slime, it’s weak to Electric and Force.
At the top of all the ledges, travel northwest to find the Hamamatsucho leyline.
SMTV Vengeance: As you approach the Hamamatsucho leyline, Tzitzimitl will speak with you and you’ll be able to accept the She Who Rules the Night subquest. After completing her subquest, you’ll unlock Vile Tzitzimitl for fusion.
Next to this leyline, interact with the rail to reach the roof of a building where you’ll find Nyami Nyami who will give you the Knocking on Death’s Door subquest.
After unlocking the leyline, head to the east side of the area to find the Abscess. Here you’ll start a boss fight against a Level 10 Mermaid. She gets two attacks and uses the Marin Karin skill which inflicts the charm aliment. She’s weak to Fire and Electric skills and blocks Ice so use that to your advantage to defeat her.
There is also another Abscess located southwest of the leyline along the river in Shiba Park. To reach it, head south from the Hamamastsucho Leyline then hop on the highway. Follow it west. When you reach the sand, continue straight and continue heading up the highway. At the second “hump” jump off the highway to the right into the river then follow the river to reach the Abscess. There you’ll face two Level 13 Sudamas who use Force attacks that hit the whole party. They are weak to Fire and Ice and block Force so make sure you plan your party accordingly.
With the two Abscess dealt with, now would be a good time to open some chests, recruit some demons, find some missing Miman and complete some subquests (there are two subquests that are tied together that rewards you with a strong demon for your team).
SMTV Vengeance: In Shiba Park, you’ll find a husk on a rock ledge along the river near a waterfall. Examine it to receive Aogami Type-1 Essence!

When you’re ready, head to Tokyo Tower to trigger a cutscene. This will lead to a boss fight against the mighty Hydra. It’s Level 15 and gets 2 attacks per turn. It is also weak to Ice and blocks Fire. It has a move called Toxic Breath that hits the whole party and can inflict the poison ailment. The Hydra also has a physical attack called Frenzy that hits multiple party members. At 50% health, all but one of the heads die. Defeating the demon will complete The Lay of the Land quest! You’ll also unlock the ability to fuse the Drake Hydra. Afterwards, The Angel’s Trail quest will begin!
