This is our walkthrough for the fourth main story mission in Pokemon Legends: Arceus called Getting to Work on Research Tasks! Below you’ll find each objective for the mission and how to complete them so expect to find some spoilers.
Head to the Obsidian Fieldlands and speak to Professor Laventon about research tasks
Before heading out to the Obsidian Fieldlands, there are 4 requests you can pick up around Jubilife Village. When you’re ready, head to the northeastern gate and speak with Ress to travel to the Obsidian Fieldlands to trigger a cutscene where you’ll learn about research tasks and the dodge mechanic.
Follow Akari/Rei to learn some tips for carrying out research tasks
Chase after Akari/Rei to arrive on Aspiration Hill triggering another cutscene. Follow along the path catching Bidoof along the way as you head towards Akari/Rei. After another brief cutscene, you’ll need to sneak up on some Starly and catch a couple more of them. Continue following Akari/Rei to end up along a river near Horseshoe Plains where you’ll be tasked with battling and catching some Buizel. Follow along the river to run into a couple of the Buizel then make your way to Akari/Rei to receive the Crafting Kit which allows you to craft items using the materials in your satchel while in the field. They will also give you the recipe for crafting Potions.
Report your research tasks to Professor Laventon and earn a sufficient number of Pokemon Research points
At this point, you can explore the Obsidian Fieldlands some more if you want. When you’re done with that, return to Professor Laventon at the camp and speak with him to submit your research tasks.

Back in Jubilife Village, head to the Galaxy Team Headquarters and speak with Cyllene in her office. You’ll receive the First Star rank and the recipe for both Heavy Balls and Revives.
