Horizon Forbidden West – The Oldgrowth Errand Quest

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 15 errand quest called The Oldgrowth in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Shael at Plainsong after completing The Eye of the Earth main quest.

 

Talk to the Survivor

The survivor can be found in Plainsong near the Stitcher. Speak with him.

 

Go to the Oldgrowth

Travel north of Plainsong to find the Oldgrowth.

 

Kill the Machines

Defeat all the machines in the area.

 

Gather the Seed Pouch

The seed pouch is located on the corpse in the center of where the machines were.

 

Follow the Tracks

Use your focus to find the tracks then follow them to a corpse.

 

Gather the Seed Pouch

Examine the corpse to retrieve the seed pouch.

 

Follow the Tracks

Continue following the tracks until you reach another corpse.

 

Gather the Seed Pouch

Examine the corpse to retrieve the seed pouch.

 

Follow the Tracks

Again, continue following the tracks. You’ll have to cross the water then climb up the cliffs. At the top you’ll spot machines near a crack in the cliff.

 

Kill the Machines

Defeat the machines in the area.

 

Examine the Crevice

Enter the hole in the rock wall.

 

Kill the Clawstrider

Defeat the enemy. It’s weak to shock!

 

Talk to the Utaru Hunter

Speak with Lao near the hole.

 

Return to Shael

Travel back to Plainsong and speak with Shael to complete the quest.

Horizon Forbidden West – The Promontory Side Quest

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 17 side quest called The Promontory in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Bree at Plainsong after completing The Eye of the Earth main quest.

 

Go to the Base of the Promontory

The Promontory can be found northeast of Plainsong in the mountains.

 

Kill the machines

Defeat all the enemies in the area.

 

Investigate the Bridge

After defeating all the machines, approach the bridge east of the Promontory then examine the footprints on the other side of the river.

 

Go to the Promontory

From the footprints, follow the path north. When you reach the small waterfall, climb up the cliff and head through the cave atop the waterfall. When you emerge, head over the wooden bridge and follow the path. When you reach the chunk of broken bridge, you’ll need to climb up the rock wall again to reach the Promontory at the top.

 

Examine the Stone Table

Interact with the  table.

 

Investigate the Promontory

Use your focus to locate the footprints in front of the table and examine them. Examine the edge of the cliff to the west of the footprints. Next, examine the flowers to the left of the table.

 

Scan for the Dye Trail

Use your focus to find the trail near some bushes.

 

Follow the Dye Trail

Follow the trail to a thicket then interact with the branches.

 

Follow the Drag Trail

Use your focus to follow the trail to the corpses.

 

Examine the Corpses

Interact with the corpses.

 

Kill the Stalkers

Defeat the machines.

 

Gather the Killer’s Seed Pouch

Head back to the corpse and loot it for the pouch.

 

Return to Bree

Head back to Plainsong and speak with Bree.

 

Go to Summerwind

Head south to Summerwind.

 

Find Kel

Head to the top of the giant bamboo platform to find Kel near the center. Speak with her to trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, the quest will complete.

Horizon Forbidden West – Drowned Hopes Side Quest

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 22 Drowned Hopes side quest in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Gendas at a Carja Camp southeast of the Tallneck: Cinnabar Sands.

 

Go to the Dig Site

Before leaving camp, inspect the tent near the roasting fish to find the How’s the Weather? Datapoint – Side Quest. When you’re ready to progress, leave the camp and make your way to the objective in the southeast.

 

Kill the Machines

Once you reach the dig site, defeat all the machines there.

 

Investigate the Submerged Ruins

In order to do this objective, you’ll need the Diving Mask, which you can obtain during The Sea of Sands main quest. Once you have it, head into the water west of the dig site and locate a large section of a building that you can swim into. Interact with the console here to obtain a Datapoint.

 

Go to the Coordinates for the Console

Head southwest from the dig site to reach Dread Bluff.

 

Search the Ruins of a Security Console

Once there, clear out the machines. Afterwards, head into Dread Bluff then make your way to the elevator hanging in the shaft. You’ll then be able to access the console. Interact with it then loot the Ancient Trunk nearby to obtain a Vault Key.

 

Go to the Coordinates for the Console

Head west to Devil’s Slide where you’ll need to dive underwater to find the door to the facility.

 

Search the Ruins of a Security Console

Open the door then head left through the hallway. Pry open the last door on the left to find the console. Interact with it then loot the Ancient Trunk nearby to obtain a Vault Key.

 

Search the Ruins for a Mobile Cover System

Head south of Devil’s Slide to the Drowned Gullet. Once there, dive underwater to find a tunnel. When you emerge to the other side, you’ll reach a clearing with a couple of machines and a facility on the other side. Work your way to the facility by either sneaking past or fighting the machines. Once inside, head for the back room where you’ll need to insert all 3 Vault Keys to unlock the door. Head through the newly opened door and pry open the Ancient Trunk o receive the Mobile Cover System Prototype.

 

Return to the Carja Scholars

Head back to the scholars at the camp and speak with them.

 

Craft the Guardian Tripcaster

Interact with the workbench to craft the Guardian Tripcaster under the Quest Items tab. This will complete the quest.

Horizon Forbidden West – Tallneck: The Stand of the Sentinels

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 25 Tallneck: The Stand of the Sentinels in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, locate the Tallneck west of Cliffwatch.

 

 

Climb up the Abandoned Settlement

Start climb up the abandoned city from the center of the area near a fire. Follow the path forward coming to an area where you’ll have to glide across to the pegs of an adjacent platform. Climb up the pegs to reach the top of the platform. Next, cross over a broken down bridge leading to another platform. From there, jump to another platform where you’ll be able to reach the Tallneck. Once on the Tallneck, Alloy will comment that the Tallneck is missing parts so you’ll have to climb higher to jump directly on its head. Cross over to the other side of the Tallneck and jump onto a platform to your left. From there, cross a tightrope and keep following the path until you reach a large central structure with 2 Fire Clamberjaws. Shoot the lock of the ladder then climb up it. Afterwards, slide down the rope then climb to the top of the platform. From there, you’ll be able to jump onto the Tallneck.

Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden – The Champion Trophy

After completing The Tale of the Crimson Maiden and waiting for some time to pass, return to West Isle to trigger an event upon landing on the pier. (We completed the North Isle and had explored the East Isle before returning to the West Isle!) You’ll be cordially invited to participate in the tournament at the Arena in Heroes’ Dominion. When you’re ready, make your way there and speak with the receptionist to begin! Please note that these fights are extremely hard, so make sure you’re stocked up on items! Also note that if you’re defeated, the receptionist will hand out a Quality Omnisalve sometimes.

 

For the first match, you’ll be up against a lady with 120 HP. Defeat her! For the second match, you’ll be up against an old man with 150 HP and 2 Wind Wasps with 90 HP each. Focus on the wasps first as the old man mainly buffs. Defeat them! For the third and final match, you’ll be up against the Arena Receptionist who has a whopping 300 HP!!! He also has a move that damages all players to the point where it’s an instant kill. For this one, you might want to save the fight for closer to the end of the game when you have better weapons and gear. We were able to beat him after obtaining the Azure Spirit’s Relic. For a guide on how to obtain this weapon, click here! During the fight, we had the main guy, Laty and Lac. We mainly used the main character to deal out the damage with the fire attack and Laty to heal and generate gems. Lac used Surprise to reduce the Receptionist’s attack.

 

Upon winning the tournament, you’ll receive the Champion of the Sea armor and The Champion trophy!

For the At Peace trophy in Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden, you must find a fallen masked youth on the North Isle. After completing The Tale of the Ivory Maiden, return to the North Isle after some time passes. (We had explored the East Isle then returned.) Make your way to the northwestern side of the North Isle to find the Masked Soldier near the Mystic Forest.

Interacting with the card will trigger a cutscene and the trophy will pop shortly after!

After leaving West Isle, do some exploring then return to Heroes’ Dominion. We went to the North and East Isles then returned to the West Isle and were able to interact with the familiar duo on the southern side of Heroes’ Dominion. After this interaction, the Maiden on a Mission trophy will trigger!
