In this mission, you’ll travel deeper into the Obsidian Fieldlands to meet Mai of the Diamond Clan and assist her with a special request involving a mysterious Pokémon. Walkthrough – A Request from Mai
Meet Akari/Rei at the Training Grounds
Before starting the mission, consider turning in any completed Requests and visiting the Pastures to update your team if needed. When you’re ready, head to the Training Grounds located in the northwestern part of Jubilife Village and speak with Akari/Rei.
This will lead to a battle against their Level 9 Pikachu. Defeat them to trigger a cutscene and continue the mission.
Travel to the Obsidian Fieldlands to meet Mai of the Diamond Clan
Once you’re prepared, head to the northeastern village gate and speak with Ress to travel to the Obsidian Fieldlands. From the camp, head south past Aspiration Hill and cross the bridge to trigger a cutscene.
You’ll then battle Mai and her Level 10 Munchlax. After winning, she’ll heal your team and reward you with 5 Vivichokes.
Head to Deertrack Heights, where an Alpha Pokémon is causing trouble
Continue by traveling southeast from Deertrack Path until you reach Deertrack Heights, where Mai is waiting. Approach her to trigger another cutscene—she’ll fully heal your party in preparation for the next battle.
Battle the Alpha Kricketune in Deertrack Heights
Approach the powerful Level 12 Alpha Kricketune to begin the battle. Use Fire- or Flying-type moves to weaken it effectively, then throw a Poké Ball to try and catch it. After the battle ends, a final cutscene will play, marking the completion of Mission 5.
