In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials unlock as part of the story at Lower Hogsfield. There you’ll receive a tutorial on the first Merlin Trial. From then on when you discover a Floo Flame on the World Map, these Merlin Trials will sprout up as a leaf symbol. Complete them at your leisure to increase your bag space! If you’re going to attempt a trial, make sure you have a Mallowsweet Leaf on you as it’s required to start them! Since there are different trials, we’ve included the solutions below for each type of trial.

Unlit Braziers

For the unlit brazier Merlin Trials, you’ll need to know the Confringo spell as you’ll have to light all 3 braziers before they touch the ground! Use Revelio to spot all 3 braziers and position yourself where you can easily reach them all. When you light on, the brazier will start to sink into the ground. All 3 braziers must be lit before the first one touches the ground to complete this trial.

Stone Wizard Statues

For the stone wizard statue Merlin Trials, you’ll need to know the Reparo spell. Use this spell on the broken statues in the area to fix them. Once all the statues have been repaired, the trial will complete.

Matching Stones

For the matching stone Merlin Trials, you’ll come across 2 stones stacked on top of each other. For this challenge, you’ll need to know the Flipendo spell. Face one side of the stones and use Flipendo to turn the top stone until it matches the bottom stone.

Once the stones have been matched, move on to the next side and do the same to there. Once that pair is fully matched, the stones will be covered by a vine. This will tell you this pairing is complete and it’s time to move on to the next grouping. Typically there are 3 pairs in an area. Once the sides of the stones match, the trial will complete.

Stairs

For this Merlin Trial involving stairs, you’ll need to step on each of the steps. Once you do, they will become covered by vines, letting you know that step is done. Once all steps have been walked on, the trial will complete.

Small Rock Stacks on Stone Columns

For this Merlin Trial involving small stones stacked on top of stone columns, you’ll need to knock down the stone stacks then climb up a stone column. You’ll need to jump to each of the stone columns without falling off. Once you’ve stepped on a column, it will become covered with vines letting you know that you’ve finished that one. Once all columns have been covered in a vine, the trial will complete.

Stones with Green Dots

For the Merlin Trials involving a stone column that has a green dots, you’ll need to blow it up using Confringo. Once all the stones in the area have been destroyed, the trial will complete.

Moth Stones

In this Merlin Trial, you’ll find hollow stones around the area and clusters of blue moths. For this trial, use Revelio on a cluster of moths and lead them to the stones. When in range, they will gravitate to the stones lighting them up. This causes vines to encase the stones, telling you that stone is done. Once all the stone have been covered in vines, the trial will complete.

Balls on Pedestals

For this Merlin Trial, you’ll spot balls on a stone pedestal. Use your basic attack to destroy the balls. Once all the balls have been destroyed, the trial will complete.

Ball Pit

When you see a pit in the ground, you’ll need to look nearby for a large stone ball. Your goal for this trial is to bring the ball to the pit. The Wingardium Leviosa spell makes this trial a breeze!

Small Balls Pit

For this trial, you’ll find platforms with 4 small holes around the area. You’ll need to look nearby and use Accio and/or Wingardium Leviosa to move one of the small balls from the cluster. All the other small balls will follow the one you’re guiding. Once the small cluster has reached the platform, it will be encased with vines, letting you know this one is one. Look around the area for the next cluster and repeat until all platforms are covered!

Stonehenge monoliths

For this trial, you’ll have to jump across the tops of these Stonehenge-like monoliths much like the stairs trial above.
