Horizon Forbidden West – Relic Ruins: No Man’s Land

Below is a walkthrough on the Level 10 No Man’s Land Relic Ruins quest in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, listen to a lady about the ruin. She can be found at the campfire south of the Cinnabar Sands Tallneck campfire. You’ll need to have completed the Death’s Door main quest in order to complete this Relic Ruin as you’ll need the Ignitor which is received during the main quest.

 

 

Explore the Ruins

From the locked door, head left along the building until you reached the ruined courtyard. Locate a giant cube that you can move around. Use it to reach the second level of the building then head over above the vent. Ignite the Fire Gleam then head through the opening and drop down to the area below. Use your Pullcaster on the cracked wall to create an opening. Head through and take a right following the hallway to the end to emerge back outside. Ignite the Fire Gleam on the wall to make an opening then head through. Grab the energy cell and head back through the hole in the wall. Insert the energy cell into the wall on the back right of the room to power it up. You’ll then want to climb up to the floor above you using the Pullcaster. You’ll then need to jump across the room using your glide to reach the other side. Once you’re on the other side, there will be a crate in a cubbyhole. Pull the crate out and drop it down to the water below. Next, push the crate up against the concrete near the energy cell charger.

Remove the energy cell then place it on the crate. Drag the crate to the other side of the room then pick up the energy cell. Insert it into the slot to give the locked door power. Inspect the right side of the energy slot to find the VIP Key! Datapoint, which contains the code of 2204. Input this code into Access Console above to unlock the door. You’ll receive an Ornament!

Horizon Forbidden West – Shadow in the West Side Quest

Below is a walkthrough on the Shadow in the West side quest in Horizon Forbidden West. After completing the Shadow From the Past side quest, this quest will automatically trigger.

 

Go to the Eclipse Hideout Coordinates

Travel west past Stone’s Echo and the Cauldron to arrive at the objective.

 

Kill the Eclipse

Defeat all the enemies northeast of the hideout.

 

Find the Entrance into the Eclipse Hideout

After you deal with the enemies, return to the hideout.

 

Talk tot he Utaru Prisoner

Speak with the prisoner near the entrance.

 

Find Vezreh

Follow the scaffolding around to find a way into the Eclipse Hideout. Along the way, you can find a Failsafe Datapoint. When you get inside the hideout, clear out the enemies then head to the structure in the back.

 

Free the Utaru Captives

Open the cage to free the captives. After you free the captives, head inside the cage to find the Bad Way to Go Datapoint.

 

Enter Vezreh’s Chamber

Head past the cage then interact with the door to enter the chambers.

 

Kill Vezreh and his Machine

Defeat the Level 20 Ravanger. Whenever the machine’s health gets low, Vezreh joins the fight using a machine gun. Finish off the machine then deal with Vezreh to trigger a cutscene.

 

Investigate Vezreh’s Chamber

Search the Vezreh Datapoint on a table next to a torch and The Others Datapoint in a bunkroom. Afterwards, pull out the vent in the bunkroom then crawl through. You’ll find the Five Tribes Datapoint on the left side.

 

Talk to Yef

Return to Yef and speak with him to complete the quest.

Talk to Talanah at the Oseram Camp

Travel south and slightly west of the base to find Camp Nowhere and speak with Talanah.

 

Meet Talanah North of Thornmarsh

Travel to the far southwestern coast to find Talanah north of Thornmarsh and speak with her.

 

Follow Talanah

Follow behind her.

 

Kill the Fireclaw

Defeat the machine!

 

Talk to Amadis and Talanah

Speak with the pair on the road.

 

Follow Amadis

Follow behind the pair along the road.

 

Find an Entrance to the Rot

Swim around the ocean to the back of the Rot to find a beach where there is an opening in the ruins.

 

Open the Gate for Talanah and Amadis

Sneak around to the front of the ruins to locate the gate and turn the where to open it.

 

Kill the enemies

Defeat all the enemies inside the ruins.

 

Kill the Tideripper

Defeat the machine!

 

Talk to Talanah

Speak with her near the prisoners in the Rot to complete the quest.

Find the Carja Huntress

Travel to the objective southwest of Stone’s Echo to find the huntress. Approach her to trigger a cutscene.

 

Kill the machines

Defeat the enemies in the area.

 

Talk to Talanah

Approach the huntress and speak with her to trigger another cutscene.

 

Follow Talanah to the Battlefield

Run behind Talanah until you reach some footprints.

 

Examine the Footprints

Interact with the footprints on the ground.

 

Investigate the Battlefield

Examine the Carja weapon, cooking fire and footprints southwest of the cooking fire.

 

Scan for Tracks

Use your focus to scan the tracks.

 

Follow the Tracks

Follow the tracks until you find a person.

 

Talk to the Utaru

Speak with Lel.

 

Go to the Western Ridge

Travel southwest to the objective.

 

Skill the Shellsnapper

Defeat the level 27 Shellsnapper. Use acid or fire based weapons as they deal additional damage.

 

Enter the Tunnel

On a crate near the entrance to the tunnel, you can find A Dam Shame datapoint. When you’re ready, enter the tunnel.

 

Investigate the Tunnel

Use your focus to examine a pile of rubble on the left side to find a corpse. Afterwards, examine the corpse. The quest will complete when the cutscene ends.

As you explore the northern sea to find the North Isle at the very top of the map, you can come across the below.

 

Events

Chests floats by – Open it to receive 1,000G or get attacked by a monster… it’s all about your luck!

 

Ship surrounded by rocks in the northwestern part of the sea

Fisherman wants some Sea Grapes. You can obtain these grapes from a Woman with Twisted Ankle on North Isle. (see North Isle Event below). If you give him the Sea Grapes, you’ll receive a Bent Stick in return!

 

Treasure

When exploring the World Map, you’ll come across shipwrecks. Make sure to stop on these cards as they contain treasure!

North Isle

When you’re done exploring the sea, dock on the western part of the North Isle. You will be able to find the below!

Return to the sea and set sail for the main dock of the North Isle. Continue exploring the North Isle to find the below.

 

Events

Woman with Twisted Ankle

We found her on the below card.

If you give the woman Salve, she’ll give you Sea Grapes!! You’ll be able to bring these grapes to the Fisherman at the Ship in the sea! (See the above World Map Event!) If you hand them over to the Fisherman, you’ll receive a Bent Stick in return.

 

As you approach Alabaster City in the north, a cutscene will trigger followed by a fight. Defeat the enemy that has 90 HP. Once you’re done exploring the North Isle, head on into the city.

 

Alabaster City

Upon entering the city, explore as you’d like to find the below.

 

People

Speak with the following citizens to obtain their flipside stories:

  • Gatekeeper on the left side of the entrance – Solider in White’s flipside story
  • City Watch on the southeastern side of the city – Knight in White’s flipside story
  • Innocent Girl between the Inn and Accessory Shop – Girl in White’s flipside story
  • Bored-Looking Youth in northern part of town – Boy in White’s flipside story

 

Event

Even if your not planning on upgrading, please make sure to stop in to the Armorer as an event will trigger. The Discerning Smith would like rare ore! You can receive this ore from the collector on the southeastern side of the sea, just south of the East Isle. Hand it over to the Armorer to receive the Emperor’s Glory and the Straw Millionaire Trophy!

When you’re ready to progress with the story, speak with the duo on the western side of town. Afterwards, exit the town then make your way to the Mystic Forest on the northwest side of North Isle.

 

Mystic Forest

Enter the forest then head forward a short way to find a Tree Face card. Interact with the card to learn that healthy trees are rooted in honesty and frail trees in falsehood. Explore the forest to find the below.

Poisonstay Ring – Southeastern corner of the area

 

When you reach the two trees, speak with them then head north per the healthy tree’s instructions.  If you head south and step on the grassy card, you’ll take damage. On the far northeastern side of the area, enter the Mystic Forest Depths. You can find the below in this area!

 

Treasure

Medium Gold Nugget – Eastern side of the area

 

Speak with the trees to learn that the way forward is on the western side. If you take the eastern path near the chest, you’ll be attacked by monsters and will have to fight them. The map will also revert back, so you’ll have to turn over all the cards again for the Depths area. Take the western path to avoid all the hassle then continue on. Avoid the grassy patch on the western side as you make your way through the area. You can find the below treasure in the Depths!

 

Treasure

Large Soothstone – North of the slumbering tree

 

On the east side, you’ll come across a slumbering tree. Wake it to open the path forward. Continue east then swing north when you reach the edge of the map. From there, make your way to the northwestern corner to find a mysterious card and interact with it. A fight with trigger. Defeat the enemy with 120 HP then exit the forest and return to your ship at the pier. Set sail for Omega Isle.

 

Omega Isle

Once on Omega Isle, head to the Spirit Spire to trigger a cutscene.

 

Heart’s Domain

Once in the dark heart of Laty, travel to the western town of Burdenburg.

 

Burdenburg

Make your way to the 3 people cards in the area.

Phila and Hyd’s card is up first near the central part of the area. Land on the card to speak with them. The Power-Hungry Old Man’s card is located in the north. For this one, you’ll have to select who is going to challenge him.

For this decision, your character is the correct answer but you can select the others to hear their dialog. Afterwards, head on over to the Man Making a Friend in the east. For him, you’ll have to select who will be his friend. For this one, you’ll have to select between the following:

  • Your character
  • Lanca
  • Cyrm

For this decision, your character is again the correct answer but you can select the others to hear their dialog. When you’re done, head over the the card with a glowing outline near the bog in the center of the map. After the brief scene, head down the stairs to enter Central Burdenburg. You’ll be able to find the below chests here!

Travel to the stairs in the northern part of the Central Burdenburg then head down them to find the below chest!

Head back up to the stairs and return to Central Burdenburg. In the southern part of the area, you’ll find a little girl drowning in the marsh. For this one, you’ll have to select who to save her. You’re choices are as follows:

  • Your character
  • Lac
  • Lanca

Your character is again the correct answer but you can select the others to hear their dialog. After you interact with her, her card will go away and a set of stairs will appear. Head down the stairs to enter Lower Burdenburg. Here you can find the below chests!

Supreme Salve – Northeastern corner

 

When you’re ready, approach the mysterious card in the north.

After the cutscene, approach the shattered card to begin a fight with an enemy that has 180 HP! Defeat it! Afterwards, return to the second level of the Spirit Spire and interact with the altar. When you return from the Heart’s Domain, exit the spire and return to the North Isle.

 

North Isle

After meeting your welcoming party at the North Isle Pier, a cutscene will trigger followed by a fight. Defeat the 4 enemies then head to Alabaster City.

 

Alabaster City

Once in the city, head to the glowing card just in front of the guard at the Palace in the northern part of Alabaster City. After he turns you away, make your way to the Maiden’s Shrine on the west side of the city to find the Underground Passage and enter it.

 

The Foundation

When you emerge from the passage, you’ll be in The Foundation: Back. Head down the linear path to reach a set of stairs leading to The Foundation: B1. Examine the desk then head south to pass through a door. In this next room continue to reach yet another door. Again, head on through. In this room, speak with all the clones then head through the next door. Proceed rest to grab the below chest!

Inspirilixir – Southeastern corner of The Foundation: B1

 

After you grab the chest, continue on to reach the stairs leading to The Foundation: B2. Continue north along the linear path. When you turn to the right, a tutorial will trigger. Avoid the guard as you proceed through the next room! This area will have 2 guards that you’ll have to dodge as you make your way to the east. Do so to reach the next area that has the below chest.

Quality Omnisalve – Northeastern corner of The Foundation: B2

 

When you’re ready, head down the stairs near the above chest to descend to The Foundation: B3. Head straight across the hallway to reach the set of stairs leading to The Foundation: B4. In this area, you’ll have to avoid 5 guards! Make sure to grab the below chest.

Foundation Key – South central part of The Foundation: B4

 

After you grab the key, you’ll have to go all the way to the far north of the chest to access the western side of the area. If you try a certain number of times to get past the guards on The Foundation: B4 but fail and have to restart, you’ll be prompted with an option to have help. If you select yes, a bell will toll and the amount of guards gets cut down to just 3! Waaaaay easier to make it through!

 

Once you’re though to the western side, unlock the first door you come across and interact with the southern girl’s card to obtain a Salve! Return through the door and continue west to find another door. Open it and speak with the girl on the southern side of the room to obtain a Salve! Exit the room and head north since you’re currently unable to open the door in the southwest. Open the next door you come across if you’d like to hear the dialog from the girls inside.

 

When you’re ready to progress with the story, head north and approach the door. Continue straight ahead and approach the mystery card to trigger a fight. Defeat the enemy that has 150 HP! She resists lightning and wind. After you defeat her, you’ll have to escape The Foundation. Before leaving this room, inspect the desk to receive the code for the door to the far south of this floor that you were previously unable to open. After you open the door, head inside and make your way to the east to find a staircase leading to Alabaster City.

 

Alabaster City

As you attempt to leave the city, you’ll be stopped by the guards. Defeat them! Afterwards, you’ll have to defeat 4 guards that all have 90 HP with just Lanca and Crym. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do so and the duo perishes thus ending this chapter.

Horizon Forbidden West – Black Boxes

Below are the locations of the black boxes in Horizon Forbidden West! Please note that these black boxes can be traded at the Memorial Grove for machine parts. After you turn in all black boxes, you’ll receive the Wings of the Ten (legendary Blastsling).

 

No Man’s Land Black Box – Inside a crashed plane next to a settlement south of Stone’s Echo

 

The Whitewatch Peaks – Under some rubble that you can clear using the Pullcaster southwest of Plainsong in the mountains.

 

Jagged Deep – Located in a submerged plane at the Sunken Barrier, which is south of Plainsong. You’ll need the Diving Mask to reach it.

 

The Promontory – Located in the front end of a crashed plane behind a sealed door. To open the door, use the energy cell that can be found east of the plane next to the wing in the grass. Once the door is unlocked, head through. In order to access the black box, you’ll need the Vine Cutter which is obtained during the Seeds of the Past main quest.

 

Bleeding Mark – Southeast of the Ninmah Research Lab in a crashed plane resting in the snowy mountains. Pry the plane’s door open to receive the black box.

 

The Stillsands – Northwest of the Hidden Ember near the Salvage Yard in a crashed plane. To reach it, you’ll need to have the Vine Cutter. Once you deal with the vine, pry the door open then head inside. The black box can be found behind a crate in the back of the plane.

 

The Memorial Grove – Southeast of The Maw of the Arena in a crashed plane. To reach it, grapple into the plane then pry open the door.

 

Salt Bite – Located in the crashed plane at Salt Bite. To reach the black box, pull down the vent near the Hunting Goods vendor.

 

The Raintrace – Northeast of The Raintrace Salvage Yard. To open the door, obtain an energy cell from the back part of the plane. In order to access it, you’ll need Vine Cutters. After you obtain the cell, insert it into the slot near the locked door.

 

Bonewhite Tear – Northwest of The Bulwark at a shelter. To open the door, head to the shelter and look next to the stash to find an energy cell. Pick it up then return to the plane and insert it into the slot, causing the door to open.

 

Stand of the Sentinels – In the mountains north and slightly east of Thornmarsh. In order to reach it, you’ll need to move a crate out of the way.

 

Isle of Spires – In a plane northeast of the settlement on a waterfall

Below is a walkthrough on Chapter 2: The Tale of the Crimson Maiden in the Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden.

 

World Map

Exit the South Isle via the northern dock and set sail for the western sea. On the far west side, you’ll come across the West Isle. When you’re ready, make landfall!

 

West Isle

As you explore the West Isle you can find the below. When you reach the gorge on the western side of the isle, a cutscene will trigger and L’via and Gladio will join your party. Afterwards, make a quick run to Heroes’ Dominion as you’ll need to heal and shop before tracking down the monster. You won’t have just one fight but several!

 

Events

Drawstring bag with necklace

We receive this event on the card shown below!

  • Let Laty Wear It
    • *Make sure to choose this option!* Acquire the Simple Necklace key item
  • Leave It

 

Thief wants necklace back

We receive this event on the card shown below!

You’ll be forced into a fight with the thief that has 26 HP. Defeat him. Afterwards, the thief will tell you that he regrets what he did and wants to return the stolen necklace to the shop he took it from. You’ll be presented with the following options, however, you will be forced to hand it over.

  • Hand Over the Necklace
    • You believe the tears are genuine and take the Simple Necklace from Laty and hand it over. The thief bows his head then heads off to Heroes’ Dominion. You’ll receive the Dingy Charm. Make sure to pop in at the Accessory Shop in Heroes’ Dominion to learn that the thief did indeed return the necklace and now has a job at the shop. You return the Dingy Charm to him and learn that he only stole to feed his child. As a reward, the shopkeeper will give you a Gemstone Ring! You’ll also receive the Lost and Found trophy!
  • Don’t Hand Over the Necklace
    • You tell him that honeyed words alone will not let you trust him.

 

Throw the stone at the fruit in the tree?

    • You’ll be successful if you roll the required numbers. If not, you’ll take damage.

Heroes’ Dominion

Before fighting the monsters with the Crimson Maiden, explore the town to find the below.

Speak with the following people to gain new flipside stories:

  • The Gossip (woman near entrance) – Woman in Red’s flipside story
  • Malcontent Man (man near entrance) – Warrior in Red’s flipside story
  • Training Man (man near Inn) – Man in Red’s flipside story
  • Kind Woman (woman east of Maiden’s Shrine) – Mature Woman’s flipside story

 

Event

If you did the event with the Simple Necklace, be sure to pop in at the Accessory Shop to learn that the thief did indeed return the necklace and now has a job at the shop. You return the Dingy Charm to him and learn that he only stole to feed his child. As a reward, the shopkeeper will give you a Gemstone Ring! You’ll also receive the Lost and Found trophy!

When you’re ready, exit Heroes’ Dominion.

 

West Isle

Once in West Isle, backtrack to the closest unknown monster goblin card. Interact with it to begin a fight with 2 goblin enemies that have 44 HP each. Defeat them then continue on the path towards the eastern dock. The next fight is the unknown lizard monster near the chest. Interact with it to begin a fight with a lizard enemy that has 72 HP. Travel east near the dock to find the last monster card. At last! This is the monster they’ve been looking for. Defeat this creature that has 130 HP. With the last of the foes vanquished, return to Heroes’ Dominion.

 

Heroes’ Dominion

Once in Heroes’ Dominion, rest up then head to the Arena in the central part of town. Speak with the receptionist then leave the Arena. Deal with the people how you see fit. (We drew them away twice then punched them in the face!) Afterwards, head to the Inn to rest up. Exhaust all of the dialog option with L’via. When you regain control, speak with your party members inside the Inn. After speaking with both of them, L’via will barge in. Again, exhaust all dialog options.

 

When the next morning comes around, make your way to the Arena and register with the receptionist to enter the tournament. Next, head through the door to the right. Speak with everyone inside then head through the next door on the western side of the room. Defeat the opponents. Afterwards, you’ll return to the waiting room where you can purchase items for the next round. Speak with L’via and proceed through the western door when you’re ready to begin round 2! Repeat this for the third and final round! This last fight is different than all the others! When you’re 3/4ths of the way done with the fight, a Ferocious Beast will charge into the arena. You’re attention will then turn to it. Defeat the creature then enjoy the revealing cutscene. Once you gain control, exit town to receive the Crimson Memory’s Relic. This chapter will also complete!

 

Omega Village

During the intermission, leave West Isle and make your way to Omega Island. Once there, head to Omega Village. Speak with 2 of the townspeople to learn that Laty is not going to receive a warm welcome instead. When prompted, head to the Elder’s House to speak with the mayor where you’ll need to look for the personal effects of Laty’s late mother.

  • Maybe in Greith’s Room?

You can select the first two option for additional dialog, but the correct answer is Maybe in Greith’s Room. After the upsetting scene, you’ll have the option to search the North Isle or East Isle. Set sail for whichever one you’d like to begin the next tale!

Go to the Passage

Travel to the Convoy Ambush site south of the Cinnabar Sands Tallneck.

 

Place Traps on the Road

Places some traps along the route to prepare for the ambush.

 

Rest at the Camp

After the traps have been placed, rest at the camp.

 

Kill the Machines

Take care of the three machines.

 

Return to Larend

Loot the Shell-Walker leaving the plating for Larend and his crew. Travel back to Larend and speak with him to complete the contract.

Below is a walkthrough on the Level 8 salvage contract called Keruf’s Salvage Unlimited in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Keruf near the entrance to Barren Light.

 

Go to Keruf’s Salvage Camp

The salvage camp can be found directly west of Barren Light just past a Campfire.

 

Talk to the Lead Salvager

Speak with Larend.

 

Fulfill Larend’s Contracts

Complete the following contracts for Larend:

 

Listen to the Rumor about the Oseram Salvagers

Listen to Rukka at the Campfire west of The Base. You won’t be able to do this until you complete The Eye of the Earth main quest.

 

Find Other Salvage Camps

For this objective, you’ll have to travel the world assisting the below salvagers with their problems. This objective will complete when you’ve found all the salvage camps!

 

Fulfill Runda’s Contracts

Travel to the salvage site northwest of Hidden Ember to find Runda and speak with her to acquire then complete the following contracts:

 

Fulfill Handa’s Contracts

Travel to the Salvage Contractor: The Greenswell which is northeast of Scalding Spear to find Handa and speak with her to acquire then complete the following contracts:

 

Fulfill Danur’s Contracts

Travel to the Salvage Contractor: The Raintrace to find Danur and speak with him to acquire then complete the following contracts:

 

Talk to Keruf

After fulfilling all the above contracts, return to Keruf and speak with him to complete the quest!
