Below is a walkthrough for the Level 27 The Blood Choke side quest in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Atekka in Thornmarsh.
Follow the Red River
Head to the mountains southwest of Thornmarsh near a Charger Site.
Kill the Machines
When you reach the objective, you’ll see Tenakth fighting some machines. Help them defeat the machines!
Talk to Atekka
Head on over and speak with Atekka.
Climb up the Waterfall
On the right side of the waterfall a little ways back, there will be a spot you can use to climb up the waterfall.
Kill the Rebels and their Machines
Defeat all the enemies in the camp.
Examine the Device
Examine the device on the dock near the damn.
Investigate the Rebel Camp
Use your focus and examine the Ballista overlooking the waterfall. Also examine the Datapoint on a wooden platform overlooking the rebel camp. Examine the scrap pile near the corpse of the Ravanger.
Destroy the Dam
Scan the dam with your focus then use your Pullcaster to pull up some debris from the top of the dam while Atekka uses the ballista.
Talk to Atekka at Thornmarsh
Glide down to Thornmarsh and speak with Atekka to complete the quest.
