Below is a walkthrough for the A Dark Cloud standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. To obtain this quest, listen in on the conversations around Fort O’Virus then head to a rest spot and discuss the Rumblings at the Mine topic.
After you accept the quest, travel south of the fort to the Hovering Reef 1 and speak with Gustav. Afterwards, speak with the nearby Castle Soldier. Head to the next objective and interact with the shiny object on the ground in front of a container. Make your way to the next objective then speak with the Castle Soldier. Once you’ve gathered all three pieces of the Ether Mine Check topic, head to a rest spot and discuss it. Next, return to Gustav on the Hovering Reef 1 and speak with him again to complete the quest.
