Below is a walkthrough for A Burning Curiosity, Part 2 standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. To obtain this quest, we completed the Beyond Mercy and Revenge standard quest then approached the ? in Colony 4.
To find the Mechapod Carthegia in Lavi Sandbar, fast travel to the Third Pillar Remnant landmark in the Cadensia Region. Once there, head southwest to the objective to trigger a cutscene followed by a fight with a Level 50 Mechapod Carthegia and the platoon of soldiers. Defeat them then head back to Colony 4 in the Fornis Region and speak with Ymeer to complete the quest.
