Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Cortondo Gym Challenge

by NightlyGamingBinge in

One of the three main story routes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet tasks you with earning the Champion Rank by completing the Victory Road Challenge. While pursuing this goal, you’ll find yourself in Cortondo at some point to face its gym leader Katy in a battle for a bug badge. The below walkthrough will help guide you to emerge victorious!

Starting the Cortondo Gym Challenge

Make your way to Cortondo located west of Mesagoza then head inside the gym. This will trigger a quick dialog event with Nemona. After she takes her leave, speak with the gym staff member behind the desk to kick off the Gym Test.

Gym Test

Leave the gym heading for the northwestern part of town to reach the Olive Rolling Field. Speak with the staff member there to begin. The goal of the test is to push the giant olive into the basket at the other end of the field. There will be two trainers along the way you can face to create a couple of shortcuts to make the task a little easier. Once you reach the basket with the olive, you will pass the test.

Gym Leader Battle

With the gym test passed, return to the gym and speak with the staff member behind the desk. When prompted, select yes to face off against Gym Leader Katy in battle. She uses bug Pokemon, so make sure to bring some fire or rock types to make short work of her. After winning, you’ll receive the Bug Badge along with TM021 Bounce.
