Some of the planets referenced in our guides and walkthroughs won’t match up with yours due to how Starfield was created. In these situations, what you do and the places you visit on those planets should be the same.

How to start the Overdesigned Mission
Overdesigned is one of the missions you can pick up from Walter at the Lodge. To start the mission, speak with Walter after you’ve completed the All That Money Can Buy main mission and ask if he has any other work for you. For this quest, you’ll get the Kepler S or Kepler R ship as a reward for completing it. The caveat to that is that your decisions will determine what features it comes loaded with by default.
Overdesigned Mission Walkthrough
Go to the Stroud-Eklund Staryard
To reach your destination, set a course for the Narion System, You’ll find the staryard orbiting Deepala. Approach, dock and board with it.
Find Jules
When you reach the lobby, head left and pass through the Authorized Personnel Only doors.
Directly to the left of that, you’ll find a conference room with Jules inside. Wait until they are finished talking then speak with her. She’ll introduce the other team members and inform you on what the holdup is. You’ll then have to choose between two budget plans to take to the board.
Budget Friendly – Kepler S Ship
Go with the budget friendly option if you’d like to get a basic ship. It won’t have all the bells and whistles as Jules pointed out, however, it is decent. If you choose this option, you’ll need to persuade Frank to cut something from his design.
Kitchen Sink – Kepler R Ship
Go with this option if you’d like more options for your ship! As it suggests, it will have all the bells and whistles, sparing no expense. If you choose the kitchen sink plan, you’ll need to successfully persuade Jules to go big or go home.
Give Feedback on the Team’s Proposals (Optional)
Before taking a mission, speak with the team in the conference room to get an idea of what proposals they came up with. You’ll get 100 EXP after speaking with the last one. The options here don’t seem to matter as much. You will learn more about the features that each member of the team wants to implement.
- Ella – Exploration Vessel
- Mike – Cargo Running Ship
- Nev – Recreational Craft
- Frank – Luxury Craft
- Jules – Starfighter
Complete a Passenger and Bounty Mission
For this next objective, you’ll need to complete a passenger and/or bounty mission from the mission board. You can find it in the lobby of the staryard. You’ll need to complete at least one, but have the option to do one of each type.
Speak with Jules
With the bounties done, return to Jules and speak with her. The next step will be to get the team to work together. To do this, you can tell each member to cut out something from their design or lead them through a guided meditation session. This option has absolutely no outcome on your ship! When it’s done, speak with Jules again who will ask you to provide Walter with an update.
Speak with Walter Stroud
Head back to the lodge and speak with Walter to let him know that the project is back on track. This will complete the mission and you’ll be rewarded with 200 EXP, some credits and a free ship (the one they made).
