In Pokemon Scalet and Violet, you’ll take part in a Treasure Hunt that takes you across the Paldea region to learn things that can’t be taught in the classroom. Victory Road is one of the main three branches of the Treasure Hunt during which you’ll be traveling from town to town on a quest to defeat the 8 gym leaders of Paldea to reach Champion Rank. Along the way, you’ll regularly bump into your friendly rival Nemona who is always ready to throw down. This guide will cover the gym challenges of each gym, the trainers you’ll face and the gym leaders that stand in your way of becoming a champion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Badge Effects

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Gym Badges are more than just a cool item you show off to others signifying your prowess in battle. They also make it easier to catch Pokemon as well as allow you to control stronger Pokemon and even unlock additional items in the various shops around Paldea. Below is a table of the additional effects you’ll receive for each number of badges you have.

Cortondo Gym (Bug)

Starting the Gym Challenge

Make your way to Cortondo located west of Mesagoza then head inside the gym. This will trigger a quick dialog event with your battle-hungry rival. After Nemona takes her leave, talk with the gym staff member behind the desk to kick off the Gym Test.

Gym Test

Leave the gym heading for the northwestern part of town to reach the Olive Rolling Field. Speak with the staff member there to begin. The goal of the test is to push the giant olive into the basket at the other end of the field. There will be two trainers along the way you can face to create a couple of shortcuts to make the task a little easier. Once you reach the basket with the olive, you will pass the test.

With the gym test passed, return to the gym and speak with the staff member behind the desk. When prompted, select yes to face off against Gym Leader Katy in battle.

Artazon Gym (Grass)

Starting the Gym Challenge

Travel to Artazon west of Mesagoza then head inside the gym to trigger an event with Nemona. After she leaves, speak with the gym staff behind the counter to register as a challenger.

Gym Test

This gym test tasks you with finding the 10 Sunflora hiding around the city of Artazon and delivering them to the Sunflora Lawn. When you’re ready to get started, exit the gym and take a right to reach Sunflora Lawn. Speak with the staff member there to officially start the test. Search the town looking for the Sunflora then bring them back to the Sunflora Lawn to pass the test. You can find their locations below.

Levincia Gym (Electric)

Starting the Gym Challenge

Make your way to Levincia which can be found in the eastern part of Paldea northeast of Artazan. Once there, enter the gym to trigger an event. Nemona will show up and challenge you to a battle.

Nemona Battle

You and Nemona will head for the battle court in the middle of town for your epic match of epicness. After the battle, you’ll be returned to the gym lobby with a fully healed party. You are now free to speak with the staff member behind the counter to register for the gym test.

Gym Test

Exit the gym to begin the challenge where you’ll be streaming with Iono. You’ll be tasked with spotting Clavell in the security cameras three times to pass the test. In between each round, you’ll also have to fight a gym trainer. You’ll pass the test after finding Clavell 3 times and defeating 2 trainers.

Cascarrafa Gym (Water)

STARTING THE GYM CHALLENGE

Make your way to the gym in Cascarrafa which can be found on the west side of The Great Crater of Paldea. As you approach the gym, an event will trigger. A gym staff member will then task you with bringing Kofu’s wallet to him in Porto Marinada west of the city. To reach it, you’ll need to travel through the Asado Desert. As you get close to the port Pokemon Center, another event will trigger. Follow Kofu into the market area in town and approach him to trigger yet another event leading to a battle with his apprentice Hugo. After the battle, give Kofu his wallet to be given instructions for the gym test.

Gym Test

For this test, you’ll need to make the winning bid at the action. Kofu will give you 50,000 poke dollars to use. The starting bid really doesn’t matter, what you want to focus on is the second one. Make sure to choose 35,000 as this will win you the auction. You’ll not only pass the gym test, but Kofu will let you keep the difference as a tip.

Now that you’ve passed the gym test, return to the gym in Cascarrafa for another event. When it ends, speak with the staff member behind the desk to start the battle with Gym Leader Kofu.

Medali Gym (Normal)

STARTING THE GYM CHALLENGE

Travel to Medali which can be found northwest of The Great Crater of Paldea northeast of Cascarrafa. You’ll then want to enter the Gym to trigger an event with Nemona who will challenge you to a battle after you defeat this gym. When it ends, speak with the lobby staff member behind the desk to register for the gym test.

Gym Test

Exit the gym to start the challenge then search out the three trainers to defeat (their locations are listed below). Speak with them after winning to learn their clue. The last clue can be received in Treasure Eatery by the man wearing a black suit at the bar. Talk to the host when you’re ready to order the secret item. Choose “Grilled Rice Balls”, “Medium Serving”, “Extra crispy, Fire Blast Style” and “Lemon” to pass the test.

Montenevera Gym (Ghost)

Make your way to Montenevera which can be found in the northern part of Paldea in the snowy mountains. Head inside the gym and speak with the lobby staff member behind the counter to register for the gym test.

Gym Test

Exit the gym and head over to the stage. Speak with the guy in a red muscle shirt to begin the test. You’ll be tasked with fighting some double battles to get the crowd pumped up. After you defeat all of your opponents, you’ll pass the test. Immediately after passing the gym test, Gym Leader Ryme makes her grand entrance.

Exit the gym then take a left to find the practice area. Speak with Dendra to begin the Emotional Spectrum Practice. For this challenge, you’ll need to press the buttons with the correct symbols that appear on the screen. After a successful workout, you’ll then be treated to a Pokemon battle. This process will repeat once more to complete the test.

Gym Test

Exit the gym then head up by the Pokemon Center to find the staff member near the slope. Speak with him to start the slope run! You’ll then need to head down the mountain, going through the stakes to complete the test.

Pokemon League

Road to Victory

When you’re ready to take on the Elite Four, head to the Pokemon League which you can reach via a gate in northwestern Mesagoza. As you approach the building, a cutscene will trigger with Geeta. Afterwards, speak with the guy in front of the door to begin the Pokemon League’s Champion Assessment.
