Horizon Forbidden West – Tallneck: Cinnabar Sands

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 10 Cinnabar Sands Tallneck quest in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this side quest, simply approach the Tallneck.

 

 

Climb up the dish

Head to the satellite dish the Tallneck is circling. Underneath it, you’ll find a generator with the Eyes to the Heaves datapoint on it so make sure to scan it. You’ll then want to shoot the lock on a nearby ladder allowing you to climb up the dish.

 

Restore Power to the Console

Once at the top of the dish, make sure to scan the Worth It datapoint, then look for a ladder to the right of the datapoint that you can lower. Climb down the ladder then move across a ledge to reach an energy cell. Remove it then drop down to the ground below and insert the energy cell into the generator from earlier.

 

Activate the Console

Climb back up to the middle of the tower and interact with the freshly powered and interact with it.

 

Find a Way up the Dish

Follow the walkway opposite the console jumping across the gap to find some things to scale the satellite.

 

Find a Way to Untangle the Dish

At the top of the dish, shoot the cables that are preventing it from aligning correctly. They can be found to the left of the datapoint you scanned up here earlier.

 

Reach the Top of the Dish

With the tower aligned properly, you can now climb up the dish via the ladder attached to it.

 

Jump on the Tallneck

Once on the top, glide onto the Tallneck climbing along the outside of it to reach the top.

 

Override the Tallneck

You can now override the Tallneck completing the quest.

Horizon Forbidden West – Elusive Fanghorn Contract

Below is a walkthrough for the Level 10 Elusive Fanghorn contract in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this contract, speak with Larend at his Salvage Yard after completing the Scavengers and Alarm Antennas contracts.

 

Go to the Riverbank

Travel south of the Salvage Yard to find the Riverbank. Along the way you may want pickup a Charger to chase the Fanghorn.

 

Examine the Machine Tracks

Examine the tracks on the ground until you identify the Fanghorn’s.

 

Investigate the Machine Tracks

Use your focus and follow the tracks to locate the machine.

 

Kill the Fanghorn

Chase after the Fanghorn and take it down.

 

Loot the Fanghorn

Loot the Fanghorn for the part that Larend requested.

 

Return to Larend

Head back to Larend to hand over the machine part completing the contract.

Talk to the Lead Salvager

Speak with Larend to accept the contract

 

Go to the Scrounger Site

Travel east of Barren Light near Straggler’s Shade to find the Scrounger Site.

 

Gather 3 Scrounger Alarm Antennas

Shoot off the parts on the Scroungers then loot them to acquire the 3 Alarm Antennas.

 

Return to Larend

Head back to Larend and speak with him to complete the quest.

Below are the locations of the Signal Lenses in Horizon Forbidden West.

 

 

Lens of Dawn – Atop the Signal Tower in the northeastern part of the map, northeast of Chainscrape

 

Lens of Morning – Atop the Signal Tower northeast of Chainscrape at the Blocked Path

 

Lens of Midday – Atop the Signal Tower directly east of Chainscrape

 

Lens of Afternoon – Atop the Signal Tower near Twilight’s Landing, which is southwest of Chainscrape. You’ll come here during The Twilight Path side quest.

 

Lens of Twilight – Atop the Signal Tower east of Barren Light

 

Lens of Evening – Atop the Signal Tower north of Barren Light during the Signals of the Sun errand quest

 

After you obtain all of the Signal Lenses, travel to Barren Light and speak with Raynah near the Campfire to receive the Dune Shadow dye.

Below is a walkthrough on the Level 7 side quest called Shadow From the Past in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Conover in the jail at Barren Light.

 

Go to the Clearing

Travel east of Barren Light.

 

Examine the Blood

Examine the blood by interacting with it.

 

Investigate the Clearing

Use Alloy’s focus to find tracks then investigate them.

 

Follow the Tracks

Use your focus to follow the tracks. Along the way you’ll have to either sneak past or kill the machines.

 

Search for Tracks

Investigate the corpse then look for the blood trail.

 

Follow the Trail of Blood

Use your focus to follow the trail under the bridge. Inspect the bandages.

 

Follow the Tracks

Use your focus to find the tracks again then follow them to a cave.

 

Enter the Cave

Head into the cave.

 

Investigate the Cave

Head deeper into the cave to trigger a cutscene.

 

Kill the Eclipse

Defeat all the enemies in the cave. While in the cave you can pick up the Darkened Sun, which is a Datapoint – Side Quest.

 

Search the Hideout for Rayad’s Corpse

The corpse can be found in the back of the camp just past the ruined building.

 

Examine Rayad’s Corpse

Examine the corpse.

 

Return to Conover

Head back to Barren Light and speak with Conover to complete the quest.

Horizon Forbidden West – Signals of the Sun Errand Quest

Below is a walkthrough on the Level 5 errand quest called Signals of the Sun in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, talk to Maleev north of Barren Light.

 

Go to the Top of the Cliff

Make your way up the cliff.

 

Kill the Machines

When you arrive at the top, defeat all the enemies.

 

Talk to the Oseram

After you kill all the machines, speak with the woman sitting up on the rock.

 

Gather the Signal Lens

Work your way up the nearby building, pulling down the walls as needed with the Pullcaster, to reach the top where you can loot the Signal Lens.

 

Return to Raynah

Head back to Raynah and speak with her to complete the quest. Afterwards, you can meet with her in Barren Light and give her any more Signal Lenses that you find for rewards. For the location of these extra Signal Lenses, click here!

Horizon Forbidden West – The Twilight Path Side Quest

Below is a walkthrough on Level 7 side quest called The Twilight Path in Horizon Forbidden West. To obtain this quest, speak with Petra in the tavern at Chainscrape.

 

Talk to Tolland

Tolland can be found at the southeastern part of the city near the melee pits. Speak to him for a cutscene.

 

Go to the Twilight Carja Camp

Head to the camp southwest of the city (east of the Split Crag mine).

 

Defeat the Machine

Help the Twilight Carja defeat the wave of machines.

 

Talk to the Twilight Carja Refugee

Make your way to the town entrance and speak with Lokasha.

 

Find Savohar

Work your way up the mountain in pursuit of Savohar. Towards the top, you’ll come to an open area filled with machines. You can sneak past them or take them out. Just past them you’ll find Savohar meditating near a bridge and bonfire. Speak with him.

 

Gather the Stormbird Heart

Jump across the broken bridge using your Pullcaster then climb your way up the mountain and structure to search the Stormbird. Loot it.

 

Return to Savohar

Head back to the old man and speak with him.

 

Return to the Twilight Carja Camp

Fast travel back to camp and approach the group to trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, the quest will complete.

Horizon Forbidden West – A Bigger Boom Errand Quest

Below is a walkthrough on the Level 7 errand quest called A Bigger Boom. To obtain this quest, speak with Delah on the southwestern side of Chainscrape at a shop just before the gate.

 

Gather 3 Charger Horns

Chargers can be found south of the city at the Charger Mount site. Make sure to shoot off their horns before killing the machines then you can collet them.

 

Gather 1 Fanghorn Rib

The Fanghorn can be found to the far east of the Charge Mount site. Its weak to ice if you have an weapons with that element. Once you take it down, loot the machine for the rib.

 

Deliver the Parts to Delah

Return to Delah in town and speak with her to hand over the parts, completing the quest.
