Hogwarts Legacy – Like A Moth to a Frame

In Hogwarts Legacy, you have the option of completing side quests to earn different rewards. Below is a guide on the Like a Moth to a Frame side quest!

To obtain this side quest, speak with Lenora in The Library Annex near the Central Hall Floo Flame at Hogwarts. For the first task, you’ll need to discover the painting’s secret. To do this, stand in front of the blank painting and cast the Lumos spell.

Next, you’ll have to find the spot the painting reveals. This spot can be found on the other side of the room to the south. Head down the stairs (a book should be flying overhead) then take a left to find the spot shown in the empty painting. To the left of the statue, you’ll see a moth on the wall. Approach it with the Lumos spell active to retrieve the moth. Return to the empty picture and cast Lumos to reactive the spell to transfer the moth into the painting thus solving the riddle. Before leaving to find Lenora, collect the Field Guide Page next to you!

Afterwards, head up the stairs to the right of the painting and speak with Lenora who is reading a book leaning on the rail over where the painting was to complete the quest. You’ll receive the Cobalt Regalia Appearance as a reward!

Hogwarts Legacy – Crossed Wands

In Hogwarts Legacy, the Crossed Wands side quest chain has you joining an unsanctioned dueling club where you’ll face other students to see who is the best duelist in the school. These side quests first become available after attending your first Defense Against the Dark Arts class and speaking to Sebastian Sallow afterwards.

Round 1

Obtained: Head to the Clock Tower Courtyard in the South Wing and speak with Lucan Brattleby.

After speaking with Lucan, you’ll be able to have your first duel against Astoria Crickett and Lawrence Davies who scale to your level. Since this is your first duel, Lucan will partner you with Sebastian. To win the duel, you’ll need to reduce both Astoria and Lawrence’s HP to 0. They will generate yellow barriers around them to protect against spells. Use your Levioso spell when the barrier is up to break it allowing you to get a few hits in. When prompted, use your barrier and hold the button to stun one of your opponents. After your victory, Lucan will say it will be some time before the next duel and the side quest will be completed.

Round 2

Obtained: The second Crossed Wands side quest becomes available during Professor Hecat’s Assignment I.

Travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard to find Lucan. Speak with him to start Round 2 for Crossed Wands. If you haven’t completed Spell Combination Practice, you’ll need to select Crossed Wands from the prompt. You can choose to duel with either Natsai or Sebastian. This time you’ll be facing three duelists that scale to your level who use new violet shields in addition to the previous yellow ones. You’ll need to use charm spells like Accio to break through them. Defeat them to complete the side quest.

Round 3

Obtained: The second assignment becomes available after bringing Professor Fig the book you got from the restricted section.

Head to the Clock Tower Courtyard and speak with Lucan to start the final round of Crossed Wands. This time you’ll be facing four enemies that scale to your level so you may want to bring a partner with you. Each of the enemies will have a barrier you’ll need to bring down to damage them. Once all four have been dealt with, you’ll be deemed the dueling champion and awarded the Cross Wands Champion Garb outfit appearance. This will also complete the Crossed Wands side quest chain.

From the save point, follow the path south to find a cell. Use Zoro to break the bars then defeat the enemy inside. You’ll be able to loot the fragment afterwards.

The fragment can be found in a sewer pipe in the south-central part of the area. You’ll need to lower the water level before you can reach it.

Water Seven City Area

Fountain Square

This fragment can be found on the ground next to a table near the entrance to the bookstore.

Fountain Square

The fragment can be found under an overhand west of the Yoisa Travel point. It won’t be accessible until after you visit Dock One.

Galley-La Company Dock One

The fragment can be found on the ground next to a park bench near a docked boat in the southern part of the area.

Tower of Law

Underground Prison

This fragment is located in the first cell on the left side of the hallway to the west of the save point. You’ll need to use Zoro to break the gate to reach this cell.

Underground Storeroom

After heading through a small hole in the wall with Chopper, you’ll be in a room with supplies. Climb up to the top of a storage container. When you reach the ramp, look to the right to find the cube on top of the shelving unit.

This fragment can be found behind a wagon on the northwestern corner of the area.

Material Depot

This fragment can be found under the scaffolding in the center of the depot. You’ll need to move the crane arm above the scaffolding so that you can reach it via Gum-Gum Rocket. Then just head down to the ground level.

Shipbuilding Scaffolding

This fragment can be found on some scaffolding on the northeastern side of the area. You will need to activate a console to move the crane to the left in order to reach it with a Gum-Gum Rocket.

Sewer

Old Sewer

This fragment can be found on the upper level of a broken walkway near the entrance to the Old Sewer.

Tower of Law

Tower of Law 1F

This fragment can be found under the train where you start in the southern part of the area.

Underground Storage

This cube will be in the second room using Chopper to reach filled with a bunch of stacked cubes. You can find it on top of a storage container after climbing up a ledge.

Water Seven City Area

Elevator – Top Floor

This fragment can be found on the ground next to a light pole in the south-central part of the area.

White Cat’s Weapon Shop (Fountain Square)
