This side quest becomes available after learning the Incendio spell. Travel to Transfiguration Courtyard in the Astronomy Wing then head inside the nearby doors to find Duncan Hobhouse to the left of the stairs. Speak with him to learn about his predicament. He’ll then ask you to go to the Hidden Herbology Corridor in his stead and bring back evidence he can pass off as his own.
Find and Enter the Hidden Herbology Corridor
Travel to the Library Annex then exit the building on the northside heading for the greenhouse. Along the wall north of the greenhouse, you’ll find some stairs leading down that you’ll want to take. Look across from the sundial to find some vines blocking a nearby hole in the wall. Use Incendio to burn them away revealing the door to the Hidden Herbology Corridor. Make your way inside.
Obtain Proof for Duncan
Follow along the corridor using Lumos when you reach the Devil’s Snare to clear the path. Keep an eye out for a doorway on the right side of the hallway leading up to a chest that you can jump too after you light the torches on the wall. As a reminder, light the torches as you come across them to make your life a little easier! There will be another chest at the end of the hallway being protected by Devil’s Snare. After collecting both chests, there will be a doorway at the end of the corridor on the southwest side. Head through it then follow the path to spot the Giant Venomous Tentacula. Approach it and take one of its leaves then exit the corridor to the greenhouses via a nearby ladder on the west side of the room.
Rewards
Return to Duncan to hand over the leaf (or keep it). Either way he’ll reward you with a Venomous Tentacula Robe!

As you explore in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll come across puzzle doors / riddle doors / math equation doors.
How to Unlock
To unlock these doors, interact with the puzzle door to reveal a mathematical equation. You’ll need to put the solution to this equation into the circles found around the door then interact with the door to open it. The symbols stand for numbers and they can be found around each door for you to easily use as a key. The first symbol on the left is 0. The numbering continues around the door and ends with 9.
This key for the symbols can be found in a small chest across from the puzzle door in the rafters next to the Divination Classroom Floo Flame location.
As you explore in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll come across chests that have an eyeball. To open these chests, you must complete Secrets of the Restricted Section main quest as you’ll learn the Disillusionment spell. Use the Disillusionment spell then approach the chest and open it. You’ll receive 500 from each eyeball chest you open! Below are the locations of these chests.
Hogwarts
The Astronomy Wing
1. Bathroom
This chest can be found in the bathroom right next to the Professor Fig’s Classroom Floo Flame.
2. Hallway
From the Transfiguration Courtyard Floo Flame, head inside the door next to the Floo Flame. Once inside, take a right and head up the small flight of stairs hugging the right side. Continue up 2 more flights of stairs. At the top of the second flight, look straight ahead to spot the chest.
The Bell Tower Wing
1. Outside Frog Choir Music Room
This chest can be found outside the music room, which is at the top of The Bell Tower Wing. From the Bell Tower Courtyard, head up the stairs to the south and take them all the way up. This chest will be just before the music room.
2. Dungeon
This chest can be found in the circular room with a bunch of columns just past the dungeon. To reach this area, head to the Bell Tower Courtyard then go up the first flight of stairs to the southwest. Head straight ahead and go through the wooden door then take an immediate left and go all the way down the stairs. Follow the path to find the chest.
3. Hogwarts North Exit
This chest can be found in the tower on the rampart just south of the Hogwarts North Exit Floo Flame.
The Grand Staircase
1. Girl Riding Kelpie Statue
From the Lower Grand Staircase, head down the stairs then take a left to find the chest next to a giant statue.
The Great Hall
1. Detention Chamber
This chest can be found behind a locked door in the dungeon. To reach the dungeon, start at the Viaduct Courtyard Floo Flame in the Great Hall. Head up the stairs to your right (east) then make your way to the courtyard. Pass through the doors leading to the entrance hall then take a right (not going up the stairs) heading past the statue of a hog. Take the door on the left heading down the stairs. Pass through the doorway heading into the hallway. Take a left at the T. Continue following along the path to find a locked door at the end. Use Alohomora Level 2 then head inside.
2. Underground Harbour
To reach this chest, travel to the Viaduct Courtyard Floo Flame then head down the stairs and follow that path hugging the right wall. At the end of the overhand just before the werewolf statue, there will be a gate on the right leading to the Underground Harbour. Take it to find the chest on the docks.
The Library Annex
1. Greenhouse
This chest can be found in a stone room underneath the large tree in the far northeastern corner of the greenhouse area. There will be a set of stone stairs leading down to the left of this tree.
2. Restricted Section of Library
This chest can be found in the Restricted Section of the Library.
3. Rafters
This chest can be found in the rafters near the Divination Classroom travel point.
The South Wing
1. West Tower
Use the doors near the West Tower Floo Flame that lead outside then take an immediate left and follow the narrow walkway against the building to find the chest.
2. Clock Tower Courtyard
Travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame then head through the door to the left of the gate exiting to the outdoor courtyard. You’ll need to use Alohomora on this door to unlock it if you haven’t already! Take the stairs to the top then follow the walkway to the northwest where you’ll find a gated door. Look at the symbol on the door then head over to where the pendulum is swinging. Use Glacius when the pendulum is over the deer symbol to freeze it in place.
Quickly run back to the gated door, which will now be open. Head inside and loot the chest.
3. Hospital Wing
From the Hospital Wing Floo Flame, head down the nearby stairs. At the bottom, head straight across towards the statue then head down that set of stairs until you reach a bookshelf. Use Alohomora Level 3 on the door next to this bookshelf then head inside to find the chest.

This eyeball chest can be found in the bedroom inside Tomes and Scrolls.
2. Southwestern Corner
This eyeball chest can be found behind the buildings between Hog’s Head and Tomes and Scrolls in the southwestern part of the area.

As you progress through Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll receive assignments from Professor Hecat, who can be found in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom in The Astronomy Wing. You’ll receive the first assignment during the Find the Secret in the Restricted Section main quest. Below are walkthroughs for these assignments.
Assignment I
Obtained: This assignment is automatically received as part of the story and is mandatory.
For the first task, you’ll need to win two rounds of Crossed Wands. You’ll also have to do a round of spell combination practice with Lucan Brattleby. Both side quests can be started at the Clock Tower Courtyard in The South Wing. If you already completed Crossed Wands: Round 1 then you’ll receive credit for winning one of the two. You can find a guide for the Crossed Wands side quests here along with a guide on Spell Combination Practice here. Once you complete both tasks, return to Professor Hecat and speak with her to begin the mini-game to perform the Incendio spell via wand movement. Learning the spell will complete the assignment.
Assignment 2
Obtained: The second assignment becomes available after bringing Professor Fig the book you got from the restricted section.
Professor Hecat will send you a letter via OWL with the next set of tasks for this assignment. You’ll need to successfully avoid enemy attacks by rolling 10 times and cast Incendio on 5 enemies. You can take care of most of the Incendio ones by doing the next Spell Combination Practice side quest. For what’s left you can exit the school ground and explore the surrounding area to find enemies to set ablaze or attacks to dodge. Once both tasks are complete, travel to Professor Hecat in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom during the day to attend class. When it ends, speak to the professor and she’ll teach you the Expelliarmus spell.
As you progress through Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll be able to unlock Spell Combination Practices. Below are walkthroughs for these practices!
Practice I
Obtained: During Professor Hecat’s Assignment I
Travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard in the South Wing to find Lucan. Speak with him selecting the option to use the training dummy. Lucan will set up the dummy and then give you some combos you’ll need to execute to complete the side quest.
Practice 2
Obtained: The second Spell Combination Practice side quest becomes available after bringing Professor Fig the book you got from the restricted section.
Head for the Clock Tower Courtyard in the South Wing and speak with Lucan. If presented with a prompt, select the option about practicing with the training dummy. This will kick off another training session. You’ll be tasked with performing combos using the Accio, Levioso and Incendio spells. Successfully perform all of the combos to complete the quest.
In Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll be able to find Conjurations, which are decorations and gameplay stations that can be set up in the Room of Requirement. The Conjurations can be found in Collection Chests or purchased in Hogsmeade. Some can also be found near butterflies and in Vivariums. The below Conjurations can be obtained from quests.

This side quest becomes available during the Attend Your First Day At Hogwarts main quest after attending both Charms and Defense against the Dark Arts class. To start it, speak with Cressida Blume in Central Hall at The Library Annex in Hogwarts. She’ll tell you how a charm of hers didn’t quite go as planned and ask you to retrieve her 5 flying books from the library.

Head down the stairs near Cressida then take a right through the door there to enter the library. Her books can be found flying around various parts of the library. You’ll need to use the Accio spell to collect them. Check out the list below for a general idea of where you can find each book.

After nabbing all five of them, return to Cressida. If you hand them over without any fuss, she’ll reward you with some money and an Avian-Grey wand handle. Alternatively, if you ask her for a reward to keep her diary a secret, she’ll of course be mad. If you press her, she’ll say that she’s going to write nasty stuff about you but will fork over 300 Gold and an Avian-Grey wand.
You’ll receive Professor Ronen’s Assignment in Hogwarts Legacy as part of the story during the Attend Your First Day At Hogwarts main quest to introduce the concept of assignments. Below is a walkthrough for this assignment.
Assignment 1
For the first task, speak with Professor Ronen in the Transfiguration Courtyard. Afterwards, head east from Professor Ronan to spot the flying paper near the broken statue past an outdoor hallway. Use the Accio spell to collect it.
Next, proceed to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower. It can be found through a doorway southwest of the professor in the courtyard near the Floo Flame. Once you reach the tower, the page can be found flying around the stairs. Again, use Accio to collect the page, then return to the professor in the courtyard.
Speaking with him will kick off the mini-game where you’ll need to trace out the symbol for the spell. You’ll be able to cast Reparo now! Head over to the broken statue near the first page you had to retrieve and cast the spell to see it in action. This will complete the assignment!
