Octopath Traveler II – Brightlands Side Stories

In Octopath Traveler II, people all over Solistia need your help. Start their side stories to resolve their problems. This is a guide on the side stories found in the Brightlands.

A Devilishly Delicious Dish

Obtained: New Delsta – Speak with the Tavern Cook in the Tavern

Talk to the Tavern Cook to learn he is in search of a Delsta Devil. You’ll then need to travel to the Western Clockbank Highroad which can be found east of New Delsta. Once there, head for the dock north of the savepoint and sail south under a bridge to reach the Sunken Maw. Please be aware that the Sunken Maw is a Danger Level 34 area so you may have to come back after you level up a bit. Alternatively, you can try equipping the Evasieve Maneuvers Scholar support skill and the Evil Ward Cleric support skill if you have them unlocked. This will reduce the number of enemy encounters and make it easier to flee. In the Sunken Maw, dock at the southern bridge then follow the path to another dock. Sail east from here docking near the save point (there is another dock south of here with a chest containing a Shield of Serenity you may want to gran). Head north from here up a ladder to locate a house and head inside. Speak with the Elderly Fishing Enthusiast and he’ll tell you about some special bait to catch the Delsta Devils. Use one of your Path Actions such as Mug, Steal or Allure to relieve the man of said Special Bait. With the bait in hand, return to the savepoint and sail east. Look for a giant shadow in the water and approach it. Select “Yes” when prompted to use the Special Bait. This will start a fight against the Delsta Devil with 5700 HP. Below you can find what its vulnerabilities are. Defeat the monster to capture it then deliver the giant shark to Tavern Cook.

A Gambling Man

Obtained: New Delsta Backstreets – Speak with the Concerned Wife down the road west of the savepoint

Speak with the Concerned Wife to trigger an event where the Concerned Wife is trying to prevent her husband from going to Game Parlor. Make your way to the Game Parlor and head to the back room. Use the Scrutinize Path Action on the Dealer here to glean the “Truth of the Game Parlor” info. Return to and speak with the Concerned Wife then select “Yes” when prompted to share with her the “Truth of the Game Parlor”. This will trigger another event leading to the completion of the side story.

Reward: Victory Ring x1, Energizing Pomegranate x1

A Genius Inventor

Obtained: Eastern New Delsta Highroad – Speak with Arkar in his workshop

Speak with Arkar in his shop to be tasked with hunting down the materials he needs to complete the rest of his inventions. In exchange for helping him, Arkar will gift you with the Inventory job. The below tables contain which materials you’ll need for each invention and where they can be found.

Obtained: Clockbank – Speak with the Royal Descendant

Travel to the Montwise: Library then glean the Nyx Family History information from the Historian who can be found day or night on the eastern side of the bottom floor.

Next, travel to the Abandoned Village in the Brightlands. Once there, you’ll need to nab the Nyx Family Tree from the Villager who can be found during the day in the eastern most house and at night next to the stables.

With all the information collected, travel to Clockband in the Brightlands and share the information with the Royal Descendant. You’ll then be able to choose what you want to do. You can either give him the Nyx Royal Family Tree or tell him what research on the Nyx royal line’s history revealed. The first option will make him happy and the second option will cause him to disown the family. Personally, we thought the second option had the better dialog. No matter your choice, the rewards will still be the same!

Rewards: 6000 leaves and Resistant Nut (M)

For Whom the Clock Tower Tolls

Obtained: Clockbank – Speak to the Clock Tower Technician near the bridge leading to the Clock Tower

Talk to the Clock Tower Technician who can be found by following the steps on the right side of the fountain. He needs to fix the Clock Tower bell, but the bridge has been destroyed so he needs another way to reach it. You’ll then need to use the Befriend, Guide or Allure Path Action on the tech so that he follows you then head over to the tavern near the fountain. In front of it, you’ll find a set of stairs leading down to the moat surrounding the town. Sail along the southern path heading under a bridge and eventually ending up at Clock Tower. Head inside the Old Clock Tower, but make sure you are prepared as this area has a Danger Level of 44.

Once inside, climb up the ladder then follow the stairwell up to the savepoint. Make sure to save as you are about to fight a mini-boss after climbing up the nearby ladder. Climb up the ladder and select “Yes” when prompted to start the fight against Heavenwing with 92,000 HP. At the beginning of the fight, the bird’s first three vulnerabilities will be protected so you’ll need to use Bow and Lightning attacks to break it.

My Beloved Catharine

Obtained: Clockbank – Speak with the Haggard Man near the fountain

Talk to the Haggard Man on the west side of the fountain to learn about a misunderstanding between his beloved Catharine. Use either Allure, Befriend or Guide on the man then take him to the Industrial District north of the fountain. Once there, travel west of the Inn and interact with the white cat at the end of the walkway. This will trigger an event leading to the completion of the side story.

Reward: 12000 leaves, Cait Powder x1

The Bourgeois Boy

Obtained: New Delsta – Speak with the Wealthy Boy in the house next to the Inn

Talk with the Wealthy Boy and he’ll tell you that his throat is dry. Bring him a Healing Grape to receive your “tip”. Speak with him against and he’ll ask for one of those. Deliver an Inspiriting Plum to Wealthy Boy for another snide comment. At this point, it’s time to set this spoiled brat straight. Travel to the Canalbrine in the Harborlands and make your way to the church in the northeastern part of the city. Speak with the Wealthy Boy’s Father wearing the black hat with a feather in it. You’ll then need to use a Path Action like Befriend, Hire or Guide on the man causing him to join you. Travel back to the Wealthy Boy in New Delsta and speak with him again to trigger an event that will complete the side story.

Reward: 9000 leaves, Sharp Nut (M) x1

Utterly Exhausted!

Obtained: New Delsta – Speak with the Exhausted Man near the Theater

Talk to the Exhausted Man and he’ll mention something about a special invigorating stone from the western continent. If you didn’t notice, there is a lady hiding behind a tree near the theater. If you Scrutinize her during the day, you’ll learn why the man is so exhausted. To remedy this, change the time to night the use either Soothe (requires 1 Sage Slumber) or Ambush (requires level 40) on the Aggravated Woman. This will trigger an event that completes the side story.

Reward: 6000 leaves, Dragon’s Scarf x1

Veronica’s Next Chapter

Obtained: New Delsta – Speak with Veronica

Veronica is in desperate need of help picking out a gift for Dolcinaea. Travel to Sai in Hinoeuma and head east to Sai: East District. Once there, enter the building west of the shop and use Osvald’s Scrutinize Path Action on Platt’s Wife to glean the Dolcinaea and Gifts info. Return to Veronica and speak with her to end the tale!

Location: Shinmachi – Along the river just south of Teradaya

To bond with the Desperate Fisherman, complete The Desperate Fisherman substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit the fisherman regularly and hand over a fish you’ve caught. When you max out his bond, you will not receive any items.

Filthy Cat

Location: South Yashikimachi – On the dock next to the boatman who takes you to Ryoma’s villa on the southwestern side of Fushimi

To bond with the Filthy Cat, you’ll need to complete The Filthy Cat substory. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit the cat regularly, giving it baths. When you max out your bond, you’ll get to name the cat and take it home with you!

Frequently Lost Courier

Location: Shinmachi – Along the river in the southeastern corner of Fushimi near a jizo statue

To bond with the Frequently Lost Courier, you’ll need to complete The Frequently Lost Courier substory. Once the bond has been formed, check in on the courier regularly and help him make his deliveries. Check out The Frequently Lost Courier substory guide for the locations of the deliveries.

Fukufuku Pub Owner

Location: Fushimi Ichibangai – At Fukufuku Pub

To bond with the Fukufuku Pub Owner, purchase something from his restaurant. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase a dish. About halfway through, a cutscene will trigger during which you’ll invite the owner to drink with you. After the scene is through, wait some time then return to the restaurant. As you approach, a cutscene will trigger. Afterwards, speak with the owner sitting at a table. As a reward for maxing out his bond, you’ll receive Nada Refined Sake

Greengrocer

Location: Fushimi Ichibangai – At Greengrocer

To bond with the Greengrocer, purchase something from his shop. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase items. When you get close to maxing out his bond, he’ll ask you for 10 carrots. Grow them at Ryoma’s villa then deliver them to the Greengrocer. As a reward, you’ll receive a Sturdy Lumber.

Ichikura Owner

Location: Fushimi Ichibangai – At Ichikura General Goods

To bond with the Ichikura Owner, purchase something from his shop. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase items. When it comes time to max out this bond, you’ll have to engage in a chase. Capture the shoplifter. As a reward, you’ll receive a Crystal.

Junk Boy

Location: Kuramachi – In alley just north of Teradaya

To bond with the Junk Boy, you’ll need to complete The Junk Boy substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit the boy regularly and hand him something. When you max out his bond, you will not receive any items.

Palanquin Bearer

Location: Any Palanquin Bearer

To bond with the Palanquin Bearer, use their services. Once the bond has been formed, continue using their services! About halfway through, cutscene will trigger during which the Palanquin Bearer will mention that bandits have been attacking Palanquin Bearers recently. Take another ride to trigger a cutscene where scary men will show up. This will lead to a fight against them. Afterwards, their bond will max out and the Rakugai on Kamo River becomes a location that the Palanquin Bearers can now take you to!

Patient Dog

Location: Yashikimachi – Just south of Dojo

To bond with the Patient Dog, you’ll need to complete The Patient Dog substory. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to the dog and feed it a meal. When you max out its bond, you’ll get to name the dog and bring it home with you.

Udon Shop Owner

Location: Fushimi Ichibangai – At Umai Udon

To bond with the Udon Shop Owner, order a meal at Umai Udon. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll be able to complete the All in the Hips substory. Doing so unlocks the cooking minigame. Return regularly to pitch in at the shop! When you max out the bond, you will not receive any items.

Wood Cutter

Location: South Yashikimachi – Next to the Palanquin Bearers just south of Hanako

To bond with the Wood Cutter, you’ll need to complete The Wood Cutter substory. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit the man regularly and help him chop wood.

Gion

Anna

Location: At Yamabuki

To bond with Anna, visit Yamabuki and pay 1 ryo to enter. Afterwards, play the drinking minigame. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to the brothel and play. You won’t receive anything but Virtue for maxing out her bond. No items or special cutscenes.

Kasuga Okami

Location: At Kasuga restaurant

To bond with Kasuga Okami, eat a meal at Kasuga. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to eat here. When it’s time to max out her bond, you’ll need to fight a drunk customer. Deal with him to receive a Fine Silk Fabric.

Kitchen Aoba Chef

Location: At Kitchen Aoba

To bond with the Kitchen Aoba Chef, eat a meal at his restaurant. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to eat here. About halfway through, he’ll ask you what your favorite kind of food is. You’ll be able to choose from the following:

  • Food that warms me up inside.
  • Food with lots of ingredients.
  • Food that’s simple to eat.

We chose “Food that’s simple to eat.” Return to the restaurant and speak with the chef. You won’t receive any items for maxing out his bond!

Revolutionary Chef

Location: West of Kasuga

To bond with the Revolutionary Chef, complete The Revolutionary Chef substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly bringing him home cooked meals. When you max out his bond, you’ll learn how to cook the Revolutionary Croquettes.

Sexy Madam

Location: In front of Kitchen Aoba

To bond with the Sexy Madam, complete The Sexy Madam substory. Once the bond has been formed, wait awhile then return to where she was. She’ll want the below vegetables. You can either grow them on your farm or purchase them.

  • Carrot – Reward: Passion Pill
  • Eggplant – Reward: All-Purpose Medicine
  • Daikon – Reward: Deluxe Vitality Pill
  • Pumpkin – Reward: Gold Plate

When it comes time to maxing her bond out, you will not receive any additional items.

Mibu

Veggie-Loving Boy

Location: Far eastern side of Mibu near the map transition

To bond with the Veggie-Loving Boy, complete The Boy Who Loves Veggies substory. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit him regularly and give him vegetables that you either grow at Ryoma’s villa or purchase. To max out his bond, you’ll be asked to make a Refreshing Vegetable Salad. Head to Ryoma’s Villa to make it! You’ll need Turnip x2, Eggplant x2, Onion x2, Carrot x2 and Spinace x2. Return to the boy once you have it and hand over the salad. Speak with him once more to fully max him out. You will not receive any items for doing this.

Mukurogai

Injured Dog

Location: Mukurogai First Floor – Just west of Paradise

To bond with the Injured Dog, complete The Injured Dog substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit the pup regularly and give it medicine (All-Purpose Medicine, Ointment, etc.). When you max out its bond, you’ll get to name it and bring it home.

Servile Beggar

Location: Mukurogai First Floor – Near the entrance/exit

To bond with the Servile Beggar, complete The Servile Beggar substory. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and feed him food. To max out his bond, meet him on the northwestern side of the Scarecrow Chateau in Rakugai. He’ll thank you and hand over the Precise Machinery as a reward.

Trash Dealer

Location: Mukurogai First Floor – Standing next to the entrance/exit

To bond with the Trash Dealer, complete The Trash Dealer substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly and give him something. When it comes time to max out his bond, you will not receive any items.

Path to ?

(Reachable via bridge East of Rakugai)

Amnesiac

Location: Found lying on the ground

To bond with the Amnesiac, interact with him lying on the ground. Once the bond has been formed, give him some medicine (Ointment, All-Purpose Medicine, etc.). Once you’ve fully healed him, he’ll wake up. As a reward, you’ll receive a Solid Wood.

Check back in with him later. Again, he’ll be out cold and you’ll need to keep giving him medicine. Do so until he is fully healed to receive a Sturdy Lumber.

Once again, wait awhile then check back with him. You’ll need to fork over some more medicine to fully heal him. When you do, you’ll receive a Thousand-Year Tree Branch.

Once more you’ll need to wait awhile then return to him. You’ll finally found out the cause of his falls. For maxing out his bond, you’ll receive a Sacred Wood.

Rakugai

Arms Dealer

Location: West Umekojicho – At Rakugai Arms Dealer

To bond with the Arms Dealer, purchase something from his shop. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to return regularly and purchase something. About halfway through with the bonding, a cutscene will trigger during which he’ll ask you what living means. Choose “We live so that we can die.” Purchase some more items. He’ll eventually ask you what your greatest weapon is. Choose “Honor and chivalry.” As a reward for maxing out his bond, you’ll receive a Dragon Fang and he’ll open up his special stock to you! You’ll now be able to purchase a Worn Sword.

Battered Defender

Location: South Umekojicho – On street northeast of Utamaruya

To bond with the Battered Defender, complete The Battered Defender substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly and give him medicine (All-Purpose Medicine, Ointment, etc.). You will not receive any items from maxing out his bond.

Chicken Race Receptionist

Location: Umekojicho – At Chicken Racing

To bond with the Chicken Race Receptionist, complete your first chicken race. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly and play the minigame. Win or lose you’ll still earn bond points! When it’s time to max out his bond, you’ll have to select a chicken for him. It’s either Wondercrest or Tosan Pride. We chose Wondercrest and he won! As a reward, you’ll receive a Broken Compass.

Hungry Cat

Location: East Umekojicho – On the northeastern side of Unyuan

To bond with the Hungry Cat, complete The Hungry Cat substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit the cat regularly and feed it fish. About halfway through, the cat will start to become picky about what fish it wants.

  • Sea Bream – Purchase from Uorin Fish Market in Fushimi for 2200 mon or catch yourself while fishing (Take Sea Fishing boat south of Teradaya in Fushimi to Fishing Banks. We caught several using Peerless Pole.)
  • Tuna – Fish for it. Take Sea Fishing boat south of Teradaya in Fushimi to East Coast. The Bluefin Tuna is a large shadow. (Not as big as the Great White Shark…next size down!) We caught it using the Peerless Pole.

Once the bond has been maxed out, you’ll get to name the cat and bring it home with you!

Mysterious Merchant

Location: West Umekojicho – Southwest of Rakugai Arms Dealer

To bond with the Mysterious Merchant, you’ll need to complete The Mysterious Merchant substory. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit the man regularly and give him what he requires.

  • Loincloth – You can purchase a Loincloth from the Rakuagai Arms Dealer for 1000 mon. As a reward for handing it over, you’ll receive 2 ryo.
  • Scrap Paper – You can get Scrap Paper by turning in Prize Tickets to the prize place in Fushimi. As a reward, you’ll receive 1 ryo.
  • Natto – Purchase at Fermented Goods or Rice Shop in Rakunai for 100 mon. As a reward, you’ll receive 3 ryo.
  • Ginseng – Purchase at General Goods in Rakunai for 1 ryo or grow it at Ryoma’s villa.

After you max out his bond, he’ll set up a shop there where you can purchase items!

Sword Nut

Location: Sannocho – On the southeastern side of Scarecrow Chateau

To bond with the Sword Nut, complete The Sword Nut substory. Once the bond has been formed, he’ll want you to bring him the below swords. You can craft these swords at Kurogane Smithing. For where to find the items needed to craft these swords, click here!

  • Ebony Sword
  • Yaksha Blade
  • Vulpecula
  • King of Beasts

Once you show him all the swords, you’ll receive the Tunasmith (sword) as a reward.

Uji Tea Parlor Girl

Location: West Umekojicho – At Uji Tea Parlor

To bond with the Uji Tea Parlor Girl, purchase an item from Uji Tea Parlor. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit her regularly and purchase something. About three fourths of the way through, a cutscene will trigger during which she’ll tell you of troubles she’s been having with her scamming boyfriend. Wait awhile then return to her to see how it played out. As you approach, a cutscene will trigger followed by a fight. Defeat Shinsuke to max out her bond! You won’t receive any additional items for doing so.

Rakunai

Akari

Location: Karasuma Street – At shrine north of Ginryu Dojo

To bond with Akari, speak with her at the shrine. Once the bond has been formed, return to the shrine maiden regularly and speak with her. Eventually, she’ll need some medicine. Hand over the All-Purpose Medicine. When you max out her bond, you’ll receive Akari’s Omusubi.

Barking Dog

Location: Teramachi – On the southwestern side of Ebisu Pawn Rakunai

To bond with the Barking Dog, complete The Barking Dog substory. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to give the dog a bone. When you max out its bond, you’ll get to name the dog and bring it home!

Don Quijote Employee

Location: Shijo Street – At Don Quijote

To bond with the Don Quijote Employee, purchase something from Don Quijote. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase something. About 3/4ths of the way through, he’ll tell you that he’s out of change. Attempt to exit the shop to trigger a cutscene. Exit the store then take a right and approach the side to find the rice bales. Head back inside and speak with the employee. For maxing out his bond, you’ll receive a Gold Plate.

Ebisu Pawn Employee

Location: East Shijo Street – At Ebisu Pawn Rakunai

To bond with the Ebisu Pawn Employee, purchase something from Ebisu Pawn Rakunai. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase something from the Pawnbroker. About halfway through you’ll need to find someone for him. Speak with the Worn-Out Man on the west side of the Shogi Parlor in Rakunai. Return to the Pawnbroker to receive a Platinum Chunk.

Ecchudo Apothecary

Location: Kawaramachi – At Ecchudo Pharmarcy

To bond with the Ecchudo Apothecary, purchase something from the store. You’ll agree to test out his medicine. Speak with him and select the option to test out his medicine. Keep returning regularly and agree to test out his medicine. When you max out his bond, you’ll receive a Longevity Pill. He’ll also start selling them at his store!

Hanamaru Udon Employee

Location: East Shijo Street – At Hanamaru Udon

To bond with the Hanamaru Udon Employee, purchase a meal at Hanamaru Udon. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit this restaurant regularly and purchase something. When you max out his bond, a new item of Beef Udon will be added to his menu. You can purchase it for 500 mon.

Hungry Sumo Wrestler

Location: South Teramachi Street – East of the Shogi Parlor

To bond with the Hungry Sumo Wrestler, complete The Hungry Sumo Wrestler substory. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to feed him. When you max out his bond, you won’t receive any items.

Injured Grandma

Location: Shinmeicho – Just south of Fermented Goods

To bond with the Injured Grandma, complete The Injured Grandma substory. Once the bond has been formed, you’ll need to visit her regularly and complete her tasks.

  • Yokan – She’ll give you 1,000 mon and ask you to pick some up for her. Purchase it from Don Quijote in Rakunai for 500 mon.

You will not receive any items for maxing out her bond.

Love-Starved Husband

Location: Teramachi – Along the river southeast of the General Goods store

To bond with the Love-Starved Husband, complete The Love-Starved Husband substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly and bring him dishes to eat. When you max out the bond, you won’t receive any items.

Lucky Cat

Location: Karasuma Street – On the northeastern side of Ginryu Dojo

To bond with the Lucky Cat, complete The Lucky Cat substory. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly to the cat and give it money. In return it will give you items!

  • 2000 mon – Sober Capsule
  • 3000 mon – Shunga
  • 5000 mon – 4000 mon
  • 1 ryo – You’ll follow the cat then fight the scammers. Afterwards, you’ll receive 5 ryo!

When its bond maxes out, you’ll be able to name the cat and take it home!

Maijo-sensei

Location: Kawaramachi – At Nichibuza

To bond with Maijo-Sensei, head into the school and play the dancing minigame! Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and dance your heart out! When you max out her bond, you’ll receive a Solid Wood.

Momokawa Brothers

Location: East Shijo Street – At Shippoku Momokawa

To bond with the Momokawa Brothers, purchase a dish from Shippoku Momokawa. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase a dish. A little over halfway through, they’ll ask you to judge their cooking competition. Keep eating at the restaurant until they have finished preparing for the competition. You’ll have to make a choice between the Japanese, Chinese or Western dish. No matter your choice the other brother will speak up about his dish and you’ll need to reconsider, choosing one of the two remaining options. Again make your selection for the third brother to speak up. You’ll need to pick the remaining dish. Continue with the dialog prompts. As a reward for maxing out their bond, you’ll receive a Broken Compass.

Oblivious Woman

Location: Karasuma Street – Next to the Palanquin Bearers just west of Sushi Zanmai

To bond with the Obvious Woman, complete The Oblivious Woman substory. Once the bond has been formed, visit her regularly and give her some vegetables. When you max out her bond, you’ll receive 3 ryo!

Shinto Priest

Location: Karasuma Street – At shrine north of Ginryu Dojo

To bond with the Shinto Priest interact with him at the shrine. Once the bond has been formed, visit him regularly to purchase his items. When it comes time to max out his bond, you’ll have to perform a chase. During this chase the man will hide in a barrel and you’ll need to find him before time runs out! For us, he was in the barrel by the udon shop. You won’t receive any items for maxing out his bond.

Sushi Zanmai Chef

Location: Kawaramachi – At Sushi Zanmai

To bond with the Sushi Zanmai Chef, purchase a dish from Sushi Zanmai. Once the bond has been formed, return regularly and purchase an item. When you max out his bond, you will not receive any additional items.

A Disquieting Shop

Obtained: Stormhail – Speak with the Shopkeeper’s Daughter in the provisioner’s shop.

The Shopkeeper’s Daughter is having some troubles. To fix them, knock out the Clinging Woman in the provisioner’s shop. We ambushed her with Throne! Upon knocking her out, the quest will complete!

Rewards: 12,000 leaves, Sharp Nut (L) and Slippery Nut (L)

A Present for My son

Obtained: Winterbloom – Speak with the Thoughtful Father in front of the building north of the general store.

The Thoughtful Father is looking for a present for his son. This present is a Silver Quill that can be obtained from the Retired Scholar in Cape Cold. During the day, he can be found in his house on the west side of town. At night, he can be found on the beach. Use a Path Action (Mug, Steal, Allure, Purchase) to retrieve it then return to the Thoughtful Father in Winterbloom to hand it over. Afterwards, the quest will complete.

Rewards: 300 leaves, Magic Nut (M) and Refreshing Jam

Lingering Love

Obtained: Stormhail – Speak with the Dismal Woman in front of the armorer.

Upon speaking with the woman, you’ll learn that Eugis left her with nothing more than a necklace. To resolve her feelings for Eugis, use a Path Action to take the necklace from her. The purchase price of the necklace is 6,000 leaves and Entreat Level is 50. Once you’ve collected the necklace, the quest will complete.

Rewards: 14000 leaves and Alluring Ribbon

Melia’s Next Chapter

Obtained: Winterbloom – Speak with Melia

Melia needs us to look into the Snowhares for her as they are up to no good again. Exit the mansion and head north to the Winterbloom: Thieves’ Quarter. Head north again and enter the tavern to find the familiar trio. Use a Path Action to snag the Letter from the Snowhares from Plukk. With the letter in hand, return Melia and speak with her. After the cutscene, the tale will end.

Rewards: 9000 leaves and Melia’s Amulet

Ruffians’ Redoubt

Obtained: Eastern Cape Cold Snows – Speak with the Peddler near the savepoint.

Talk to the Peddler to learn about a gang of Ruffians who hide along the road. He’ll mention how they will hurt his business if they are allowed to keep pillaging unchecked. To find and teach them a lesson, head north from the savepoint over a bridge then follow the path east. When you come to a dock (before the road curves) use it to sail east. This will bring you to the Ruffian’s Hideout with a Danger Level of 14. Alternatively, you can head east from the savepoint. This will bring you to the hideout, but it will be guarded by a Ruffian. You could then switch to night and use Throne to knock him out.

Once you are in the Ruffians’ Hideout, you’ll want to sail to the northwestern dock. From there, follow the path west and you’ll come across a group of three Ruffians standing by a chest. Approach them to trigger a cutscene leading to a fight against the trio. Check the table below for their vulnerabilities. After winning, another cutscene will trigger. You’ll want to loot the chest to receive a Wind Robe, then return to the Peddler to complete the side story.

Obtained: Cape Cold – Speak with the Flustered Villager in front of the inn.

Travel to the inn at Flamechurch in the Crestlands to find the Midwife. Use a Path Action (Guide, Allure, Befriend) to guide her back to the Flustered Villager in Cape Cold. With the baby safely delivered, the quest will complete.

Rewards: 3000 leaves and Nourishing Nut

The Sword in the Stone

Obtained: Winterbloom – Speak with the Troubled Woman on the eastern side of town.

The Troubled Woman is trying to pull it out but of course it won’t budge and wonders if a pickaxe might do the trick. Travel to the armorer at Oresrush in the Wildlands. At night, use Agnea’s Level 30 Allure to obtain the Sturdy Pickaxe from the Retired Minor. Return to the Troubled Woman in Winterbloom to hand over the pickaxe. Afterwards, the quest will complete!

The Traveler’s Bag

Obtained: Southern Cape Cold Snows – Speak with Al.

**NOTE: You might receive this side story at different places depending on which character you are playing.**

Follow the path west of the savepoint in the Southern Cape Cold Snows. After crossing the second bridge, you’ll find a thief standing next to a campfire by a dock. Speak with the individual then select “Yes” when prompted. This will lead to a battle against the Brigand. He’ll have three shields you’ll need to work through before he’s broken. Check the table below to see what he’s vulnerable to. After winning the fight, you’ll receive Al’s Bag. Tack it back to Al and speak with him to hand over the bag.

The Washed-Up Letter

Obtained: The Sundering Sea: Lighthouse Island – Speak with the Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife next to the lighthouse.

Speak with the Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife to obtain a bottle meant for Ruby in Timberain. To give the Message in a Bottle to its rightful owner, travel to Timberain in the Leaflands. Once there, make your way just west of the courthouse to find Ruby in the sitting area before the bridge then hand over the message to complete the quest.

Octopath Traveler II – Throne Chapter 1

Throne is one of the 8 playable characters in Octopath Traveler II. Her class is the Thief allowing her to steal and ambush. She is on a quest to secure her freedom. This is a walkthrough for Throne’s Chapter 1. For more guides on Octopath Traveler II, click here!

New Delsta

If you didn’t start with Throne, you’ll need to travel to the town of New Delsta in the Brightlands to recruit her. Locate the savepoint in town then head west to trigger an event with two suspicious men. When prompted select “Yes” to save the puppy. Defeat them both to trigger another event where you’ll be introduced to Throne. Select “Yes” when prompted to add her to the party. You’ll then be asked if you want to hear Throne’s story. Select “Yes” to start her first chapter.

Underground Waterway

When you first gain control of Throne, you’ll be in a battle against a couple of Pursers. Defeat them to trigger a cutscene.

Backtrack to the east to find a chest containing a Protective Ring then head back west to commence looking for an exit. After going down a flight of stairs, cross a bridge along the southern part of the walkway to find another chest with a Healing Back. Cross back over the bridge and continue on heading west to trigger another cutscene near the ladder. You’ll then need to climb up the ladder. Follow the ledge left climbing down another ladder. This will put you in the perfect position to use Thorne’s Path Action to ambush the Lookout. You can then proceed through the gate he was guarding and climb up the ladder at the end of the path… or so you thought. You’ll have to defeat three more enemies guarding the ladder. This will trigger another cutscene.

New Delsta: Backstreets

Take the stairs up on the left side of the area to then follow the walkway left of the building to find a chest with an Inspiriting Plum. You can find another chest in the building begin guarded by a Guard west of the savepoint. Use the Ambush Path Action on him to enter the building. The chest contains a Dagger. You can now follow the road to the right of this building to proceed with the story. Enter the Game Parlor at the end of the path to trigger a cutscene.

New Delsta: Game Parlor

You’ll be given some time to explore before waiting for Mother. If you exit the parlor and head west to the dock you can swim around the back of the building to find a chest containing a Critical Nut. There isn’t much else to do around the Backstreets at the moment, so head back inside the make your way to the backroom selecting “Yes” when prompted to wait for Mother. This will trigger another cutscene. After it concludes, return to the Game Parlor for another cutscene.

New Delsta: Backstreets

Make your way over to the brother near the savepoint to find a Brothel Girl there. Use Thorne’s Steal Path Action to take the Brothel Girl’s Clothes. Before heading over to New Delsta, below is a table with all of the people can you steal from on the Backstreets. When you are ready, proceed over to New Delsta.

New Delsta

First, make your way to the savepoint in the southern part of the area. From there head west to find a ladder on the side of a building. Climb up it and open the chest there to receive a Healing Grape. A third chest containing an Energizing Pomegranate can be found by going down the stairs south of Diamante’s Estate then heading east. There are also a number of townspeople you can steal from around the town. See the below table on where they can be found and what items they are holding. Approaching Diamante’s Estate in the northeastern corner of the city will trigger a cutscene transporting you into the estate.

Diamante’s Estate

When you are able, exit the room and ambush the Lookout in the hallway. Head east passing a savepoint and chairs to find a chest with 1200 leaves. Backtrack to the stairs then take them up. Go inside the room at the top to find a chest with a Shadow Soulstone inside. Return to the hall following the path left. Along the way, there will be a set of stairs you can take down to a landing with a chest containing a Long Sword. At the end of the path, you’ll find a door, along with a savepoint, a merchant and a chest with an Inspiriting Plum inside. Make sure to stock up on healing items and use the savepoint before heading through the door. Head inside and interact with the body on the ground then head through the broken window. This will trigger a cutscene leading to a boss fight.

Boss Fight: Pirro

That’s right! For this fight, we’ll be fighting our bestie, Pirro. He uses attacks that strike 2-3 times an attack. After a couple of turns go by, he’ll start to buff himself occasionally. Watch out for his purple mist attack which will damage Throne and steal her SP. When Pirro becomes surrounded by purple mist, you’ll need to either break him or defend. He’s preparing to use an attack that hits 5 times. You’ll also gain access to Throne’s Latent Power which allows her to take an additional turn. Once Pirro goes down, a cutscene will trigger leading to the end of the chapter.
