Below is a walkthrough on the Level 19 The Wound in the Sand side quest in Horizon Forbidden West. You’ll automatically obtain this quest after completing the Thirst for the Hunt side quest.
Meet Jetakka at Scalding Spear
Travel to Scalding Spear and speak with Jetakka on the west side of the fighting pit near the crowd.
Follow Jetakka
Follow Jetakka up the path.
Talk to Yarra
Speak with her.
Follow Yarra
Follow Yarra to the Wound.
Follow the Pipes
Use your focus to scan the pipe then follow it out of the village and into the desert. You’ll eventually stumble across a pack of machines. Defeat them then examine the corpse of the Tenakth. Afterwards, continue following the pipe.
Find the Source of the Water
When you climb up the cliffs where the water is leaking, you’ll find a pump. Scan it!
Find a Way to Repair the Pump
Look up and pull down a metal beam. Climb up the wall and jump to the beam. Use your Pullcaster to pull out the vent then climb through the vent shaft. Drop down into the area below and pull the metal beam. Afterwards, pull the lever then climb up around the wall and turn the valve quickly as this is a timed event! Next, climb back down to the pump room.
Talk to Yarra
Speak with Yarra in the pump room.
Return to the Wound in the Sand
Head back to Scalding Spear and make your way to the well.
Talk to the Guard
Speak with the guards at the well.
Go to Yarra’s Quarters
Head up to the top of Scalding Spear and speak with Jetakka to complete the quest.
