How to Begin the Save Hope Quest
To begin the Save Hope quest in Baldur’s Gate III, speak with Hope at the House of Hope during The Githyanki Warrior quest. During this conversation, offer to help set her free.
Save Hope Walkthrough
Steal the Orphic Hammer
You’ll steal the Orphic Hammer during The Githyanki Warrior quest. Make sure to check out our The Githyanki Warrior Quest Guide to learn how to accomplish this task.
Find Hope
Once you knab the hammer, you’ll lose your disguise and everyone will turn hostile toward you. Exit the Archive and head clockwise around the hall. In the hallway, you’ll be chased by balls of fire called Hell Spheres. These things have high defenses so you won’t be doing as much damage to them as you normally would. An easy way to deal with them is to lure them into the Boudoir and stand in the healing pool. Attack them then run back into the water as they cannot follow you there. Keep in mind that you can also heal here if need be. Enemies will also kamikaze you, exploding and causing a pool of lava to appear. From that pool, they’ll emerge as demons.
You’ll find Hope in the Prison Hatchway just south of the entrance to the Outer Portals, which is on the eastern side of the House of Hope. Lockpick the door by passing a Sleight of Hand check.
Free Hope from her imprisonment
After speaking with her, head into Hope’s Prison by pressing the button to the right of the door. Inside, deal with the two Spectators and five Vengeful Imps that will be casting Eldritch Blast. The Spectators get three actions per turn.
Once you’ve dealt with the enemies in the room, equip the hammer then swing it at the crystals on both sides of the room to destroy them.
Escape the House of Hope
With Hope unbound, speak with her and she’ll temporarily join your party. Stop by the Boudior once more to heal up then head to the Feast Hall where you’ll encounter another group of enemies. Take them out. Move to the Foyer and take the portal to trigger a cutscene where Raphael shows up with his possy.
Following the cutscene, you’ll take on the following enemies:
- Level 12 Raphael with 666 HP
- Six Level 9 Vengeful Cambions
- Level 5 Korrilla
- Level 10 Yurgir (if you did not persuade him to join you)
At the start of the battle, you might want to toggle on non-lethal damage for one of your characters and use them to attack Korrilla, knocking her out. You’ll need to pay attention to her throughout the battle to make sure she doesn’t get caught in the crossfire and explosions going on. This will ensure that she survives the battle. Also you want to take note of the four Pillar of Sous around the battlefield. Each one has 99 HP and power up Rapahel throughout the fight.
The way we went about this fight was taking care of the other enemies first saving Raphael for last. When you get down to a few enemies remaining, have someone go around destroying the Pillar of Souls. This will negatively impact the demon. At a certain point, he will use Accended Fiend getting a massive power boost and deal massive damage for 3 turns. Once this ends, he’ll be powerless for several turns until it charges up again.
If you have Hope with you, then you can use her as your main form of healing while the others focus on damage. Make sure to not use her Divine Intervention spell as the Cambions reflect the first radiant damage they are hit with back for double the damage but as fire. This will kill Hope.
After defeating all the enemies, the battle will end and you’ll stand victorious against Raphael. Hope will be in disbelief and happy to finally be free. If you spared Korilla by knocking her out, she will also thank you for that too. Once you’re done talking to Hope, the Save Hope quest will be completed. You’ll also receive the legendary Golves of Soul Catching bracers. Don’t forget to look Raphael for the Helldusk Armour as well.
