In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, affinity and main story missions are unique in that you can only undertake one at a time. If you begin an affinity mission, you won’t be able to start a main story mission, and vice versa. Furthermore, you can only have one affinity or story mission active at any given time.

The What the Skell?! affinity mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition can be found in NLA’s Industrial District. The recommended level for this mission is 36 and the required level is 36. To begin this mission, you must complete Chapter 9. The primary destination is Cauldros.

What the Skell?! Walkthrough
After accepting this mission, travel to the Hangar in the Administrative District and speak with Camber. This will trigger a cutscene where Alexa volunteers to procure the parts needed to repair the Skell. If you use the fast travel, he’ll be to the southeast of where you spawn in.
To help Alexa out, you’ll need to find five standard blade modules and six pan-analysis chips. Both of which can be found in Cauldros. Once you’ve collected all the the required materials, return to Camber in the Hangar and speak with him to deliver them.
Now that Camber can repair the Skell, travel to the Outfitters Test Hangar in the Industrial District to find Tika. She’ll be just outside next to a Skell on the bed of a truck. Speak with her to learn about a new prototype she wants Alexa to test out.

Make sure to equip the Sparkjet Rifle (it’s an assault rifle) in your Ranged slot then travel to Sylvalum and make sure the time is set to night.

You’ll then want to travel to the Sandsprint Slope where you’ll be able to find the Canyon Cantors. Also be sure to hit them each at least once with the rife for it to count. Please note that there is a giant turtle on the sand in the middle of the slope that will attack if you get to close.

Once you’ve defeated three of the cantors, travel to the Emerson Battlegrounds in Cauldros. From the landmark, head to the northeast part of the battleground to find Rodriguez, the Twin-Tusked Tyrant. You’ll then need to take him down using the rifle at least once on him for it to count.

Once you’ve finished testing the weapons on both sets of enemies, return to Tika inside the Outfitters Test Hangar. Make sure to unequip the weapon and then speak with her to hand it over. This will trigger an enlightening cutscene.
When it concludes, exit the hangar and head to the Repenta Diner in the Industrial District. There will be a Female BLADE across the street you can get intel from mentioning someone running towards the Administrative District in a hurry.

From her, head east down the highway until you come to another Male BLADE on the right side of the road.

He’ll mention that someone just went down below. Use the stairs on his left to descend down under the city. A little ways done, you should spot the culprit standing on a platform next to the stairs. Jump over there and speak with them to begin the confrontation!

This mission will complete as soon as it concludes.
Where to Find the Standard Blade Modules
You can find Standard Blade Modules by defeating the Fleet Shrad enemies located in Cauldros. If you travel to the White Phoshor Lake (northeast of Dorongo Caravan) you can find some there. This is also the area where the Pan-analysis Chips can be found. If you run out of enemies while farming for the material, you can fast travel to the landmark you’ll pick up there to reset the enemies.
Where to Find the Pan-Analysis Chips
The Pan-Analysis Chips are materials that can be picked up from the ground. You can find a bunch of them at the White Phosphor Lake in Cauldros. It’s located in the north and slightly east of the Dorongo Caravan in the area filled with what looks like purple lava on the map. If you are tracking the quest, they will be marked.
