How to Start The Skell License Mission
To begin The Skell License mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, complete Chapter 6 and accept the Skell License basic mission from the Missions Control Terminal in the Administrative District. Afterward, travel to the BLADE Barracks and speak with Vandham.
The Skell License Walkthrough
Pass each division’s exam and obtain the eight Skell license certificates.
Proficiency Exam 1
To complete Proficiency Exam 1, you must install a data probe at FrontierNav site 117 in Primordia. If you’ve already done this, the mission will automatically be completed. If not, you must travel to the West Janpath Plain, west of NLA, to plant the probe.
Proficiency Exam 2
This mission tasks you with defeating 12 blitz blattas in Noctilum. You can find them in the western part of Rustpool Banks, just southeast of FN Site 222, and also in Whale’s Nostril near the Old Dragontail Tree landmark.
Proficiency Exam 3
Proficiency Exam 3 will task you with defeating the level 25 Shatskikh, the Flash. It can be found at Northpointe Cove in Primordia, north of NLA. It’s a rare spawn, so if it is not there first, fast-travel to the Northpointe Cove landmark to reset the enemies. Eventually, it will show up in the search area on the mini-map.
Proficiency Exam 4
Obtain the solar starship map from Humdrum Peaks in Noctilum. To do this, travel to the Tripod Rock Landmark, then head southwest from there. Jump off the cliff to the water below to find the White Whale Debris on the beach.
Proficiency Exam 5
Gather the following materials:
- 8 Rock Armadillos from Noctilum
- You can find the Rock Armadillos on the ground at Goblin’s Narrow, Rustpool Bank, Vitriol Cesspool, and Whale’s Nostril in Noctilum.
- 3 Beagflea squashes in Oblivia
- In Oblivia, travel to Lake Basel to find the Beagflea Squashes on the ground.
- 6 Multi-speckled ladybugs in Primordia
- Travel to Sickle Rock Rise to find them on the ground.
Proficiency Exam 6
Use FrontierNav to earn over 15,000 credits in a single return. You can do this by placing and linking as many research probes as possible. Once your total revenue hits 15,000 credits or more, you’ll need to wait for time to pass until this one completes.
Proficiency Exam 7
Head to Divison Drive in the Administrative District and speak with Tauler outside the Arms Manufacturers building. He’ll give you a Trail Knife, Trail Assault Rifle, and Trail Sword.
You’ll need to use one of them to kill three giant grexes in Primordia. They can be found around Biahno Hills and the Lesser Gemini Bridge. Their approximate locations will be marked on your map if you make the Proficiency Exam 7 mission active.
Proficiency Exam 8
For Proficiency Exam 8, you’ll be tasked with completing one of three missions: The Handy Ma-non, The Pip-Squeak, or That’s In-Credible!. If you’ve done one of these already, the mission will completed automatically; otherwise, pick one to complete.
Talk to Walter in the Hangar
Once you have completed all 8 Proficiency Exams, head to the Hangar in the Administrative District. Speak with him to hand over all 8 Skell License Certificates. Afterward, head further into the hangar to trigger a cutscene, which will complete the mission.
Completion Rewards
As a reward for completing The Skell License mission, you’ll receive the following:
- Experience 240
- Reward Money 100,000
- Skell License
- Grenada Maintenance (M)
- Grenada Maintenance (F)
