How to Start The Probe-fessional Mission

To begin The Probe-fessional mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, speak with Kirsty south of the BLADE Concourse landmark in the Administrative District of NLA. This quest becomes available at the beginning of Chapter 3, and the recommended level for this mission is 3.

The Probe-fessional Walkthrough

Learn about FrontierNav from Kirsty.

Use Map > FrontierNav to change the data probe in Primordia’s FN site 116 to a mining probe G1

For this objective, hit the Y button to bring up the map screen. Next, hit the R button two times to bring up the FrontierNav screen. You’ll then want to locate FN Site 116, which is directly east of NLA.

Select FN Site 116 using the A button. This will bring up the Swap Data Probe menu, where you can swap out the basic probe you initially placed with a specialized probe, superficially the Mining Probe G1. This swap will cost 1,000 money.

Once the probe has been swapped, you’ll have a production increase in your mining, but you’re revenue total will decrease.

Install a data probe at FN site 114 in Primordia, then change it to a mining probe G1

Travel northeast of NLA to FN Site 114 segment. You’ll find the beacon on the western side of the segment. Install the probe data. After installing the probe, swap out the basic probe for the Mining Probe G1.

Install a data probe at FN site 112 in Primordia, then change it to a mining probe G1

You’ll find FN Site 112 north of NLA in the Sayram Northeast Plain. After installing the basic probe, swap it to the Mining Probe G1.

Talk to Kirsty

Once all probes have been switched and placed, return to Kirsty in NLA’s Administrative District to report your status.

Install a research probe G1 at FrontierNav site 117 in Primordia

Travel to FN Site 117 in the West Janpath Plain. You’ll find the probe on the eastern side of this segment. After installing the basic probe, switch it to Research Probe G1.

Discover the unexplored territory “Rock Cavern” in Primordia

From the FN Site 117, head northwest to Rock Cavern, which can be found in the Silent Mire. Once at the objective, enter the cave to explore the “Rock Cavern”.

Talk to Kirsty

After completing the objectives, return to Kirsty. The Probe-fessional mission will then end.

As a reward for completing The Probe-fessional mission, you’ll receive the following:

• Reward Money x4,000
• Mining Probe G2
• Research Probe G2
• Storage Probe
