How to Start the Fathers and Sons Affinity Mission
In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, affinity and main story missions are unique in that you can only undertake one at a time. If you begin an affinity mission, you won’t be able to start a main story mission, and vice versa. Furthermore, you can only have one affinity or story mission active at any given time.
The Fathers and Sons affinity mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition can be found in NLA’s BLADE Barracks. The recommended level for this mission is 50 and the required level is 50. To begin this mission, you must complete Chapter 11 and obtain the Skell flight module. The primary destination is Primordia. Irina’s affinity must be Rank 4, too.
Fathers and Sons Overview
You received an emergency call from some Prospectors. Head to the rescue point in Primordia and help out.
Objectives:
- Talk to Kiefer Cole in Primordia’s Stonelattice Cavern
- Talk to Leland Cole inside Primordia’s Stonelattice Cavern
- Investigate the minerals in Primordia’s Stonelattice Cavern and retrieve five pieces of flemtide
- Talk to Leland Cole inside Primordia’s Stonelattice Cavern
- Talk to Kiefer Cole at BLADE Tower
Fathers and Sons Walkthrough
From Bedrock Hold, fly north in your Skell, passing FN Site 101. Once over the water, look left to find a cave.
Head inside and speak with Kiefer Cole. Next, hop back into your Skell and head deeper into the cave. Head to the southeastern part then fly up to find another cave inside this cave. Clear out the enemy then speak with Leland Cole.
Next, head through the cave, looking for the orange crystals marked by the objective, and collect them.
Once you’ve found five, return to Leland. Afterward, travel to the entrance to the BLADE Tower and speak with Kiefer Cole. The Fathers and Sons mission will then complete.

As a reward for completing the Fathers and Sons affinity mission, you’ll receive the following:
