How to Start the A Great Divide Affinity Mission
In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, affinity and main story missions are unique in that you can only undertake one at a time. If you begin an affinity mission, you won’t be able to start a main story mission, and vice versa. Furthermore, you can only have one affinity or story mission active at any given time.
The A Great Divide affinity mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition can be found in NLA’s Residential District. The recommended level for this mission is 30, and the required level is 30. To begin this mission, you must complete Chapter 7 and the “Bottoms Up” affinity mission. The primary destination is Oblivia, and the required affinity with Phog is Rank 2, with Frye being a restricted character.
A Great Divide Overview
Phog seems keen to make amends with someone from his past. With that in mind, go investigate the strange things that were found in Oblivia.
Objectives
- Head to Oblivia’s South Coast
- Talk to Solan at the Maintenance Center
- Find a Massive Ring Fragment in Oblivia’s Barbarich Desert
- Find a Butte Ruin Fragment at the Ruins of the Butte
- Acquire a North Coast Riddle Rock from Oblivia’s North Coast
- Talk to Solan at the Maintenance Center
A Great Divide Walkthrough
This mission will start by sending you to the South Coast of Oblivia, where you’ll come across strange things that turn out to be a group of 5 level 29 Oc-serv Yabars. Once you’ve defeated them, you’ll travel to the Mimeosome Maintenance Center in the southern part of the Administrative District in NLA and speak with Solan there to analyze their remains.
He’ll send your squad back to Oblivia to collect a Massive Ring Fragment, Butte Ruin Fragment, and a North Cost Riddle Rock. All of these are required to finish his analysis on the Oc-serv Yabars you fought on the South Coast. After gathering them all, bring them back to Solan to complete the mission.
Where to Find the Massive Ring Fragment
You can find the Barbarich Desert in the southern part of Oblivia near the area with the giant ring.
The item you are looking for can be found on the west side of the giant ring at its base, south of FN Site 312.
Where to Find the Butte Ruin Fragment
The Ruins on the Butte are located in the center of Oblivia, and the surrounding area is teeming with enemies in the high teens/early twenties. Once you’ve arrived, ascend to the top of the hill and enter the largest structure.
You’ll then want to head up the ramp to reach a platform with the item we’re looking for. It will be a red/orange item on the ground that you can pick up.
Where to Find the North Coast Riddle Rock
Travel to the North Coast in northern Oblivia to find the Riddle Rock. You should see it near one of the two giant pillars, just before the beach.
