Welcome to NGB and our Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak Chapter 4: Disaster Protocol walkthrough. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you’ll need to know about Chapter 4 of the latest Legend of Heroes game! At the top of the guide, you’ll find quick links to each section if you’re looking for something specific. Otherwise, the guide is broken out based on each area you’ll travel to and the things you can do there. Please note we did not include story events unless there was an important choice to make! Instead, you’ll find side quests, important items to purchase, connection events, chests, enemy data and extra tasks to complete needed for trophies.

Quests
After you finish 2 of the below quests, you’ll be able to advance the story by opening the map and selecting “Call It a Day” under Old Town. For completing all the quests, you’ll receive an additional free time point.
Bounty in the Waterworks 2
Interact with the bulletin board in Old Town to collect the Bounty in the Waterworks 2 4SPGs quest. Afterwards, travel to the Seiden District then enter the Seiden Waterworks. Once there, head to the objective marker where you’ll find the fearsome foe prowling around. Choose to exterminate it then take out the 3 Level 39 Glare Dromes to complete the quest.
New Religions
Interact with the bulletin board next to the police department in Station Street to collect the New Religions 4SPGs quest. Next, speak with Stephan across from Orbal Cafe Iota to officially start the quest! Afterwards, travel to Riverside and speak with Carson sitting on a bench along the river near Gordon’s Tacos to hear more about the Libra Domina faith. When the conversation concludes, head across town to the Blue Score Concert Hall and speak with Carson again to observe the ceremony.
After the lengthy cutscene, you’ll find yourself at the entrance to Station Street – Underground Ruins. Investigate the door to enter the underground ruins then work your way through it to the end where you’ll trigger a cutscene followed by a fight against the Level 38 Tiamat. Take it out then you’ll need to make a choice to warn him of the danger or kill the monster. If you choose to kill the monster, you’ll face it alone for Round 2. Once you defeat it, the quest will complete and you’ll receive an increase to Law.
A Daughter in Danger
Interact with the bulletin board in the Seiden District to collect the A Daughter in Danger quest. Next, head over to the southern area of the Seiden District near the Seiden Waterworks and speak with Rumsfeld to officially start the quest. Afterwards, travel to the Tyrell District to gather information by speaking with Nami at her ice cream stand near the cinema. Before leaving the Tyrell District, head up to the roof of McMillan Cafe and speak with Giselle who is sitting at a table. When you’ve finished your conversation, travel to Newberry General Store in Old Town and speak with Brenda behind the counter. Now that you’ve learned all the information about the situation, travel to Dirke Memorial Park and speak with Rumsfeld. The correct answer is “Both”. Select “Stay and Wait” to continue with the quest. You’ll have to make another choice to prioritize her safety or Eddy with the money. If you choose to trust Eddy with the money, you’ll get an increase to Gray. For choosing the correct answer of “Both” earlier, you’ll receive 2 SP.

Quests
School of Hard Knocks (Part 1)
Interact with the bulletin board in the Artisanal District to begin the School of Hard Knocks quest. You’ll then need to speak with the following people using the Topic:
- Artisanal District
- Boss Grover across from the hotel on the eastern side
- Barnaby on the upper level
- New Town
- Pier sitting on a bench across from Cerise Drug
- Willy at his food truck
After speaking with everyone, you’ll need to contact Quatre as part of the main story to gain access to the Institute of Science.
A New Holo Core
Interact with the bulletin board in New Town to begin the A New Holo Core quest. For this quest, enter Verne Store nearby and speak with Researcher Athena inside to officially accept the quest. You’ll receive the Pocel holo core and will then need to make your way to the Auge Canyon. Once there, you’ll need to equip Pocel by pressing triangle in the Orbment menu then press X to change the holo core to Pocel. Once equipped damage enemies 5 times while S-Boosted. When you’ve accomplished this, return to Researcher Athena inside Verne Store to complete the quest. As a reward, you’ll be allowed to keep the Pocel.

RC Car Showdown
After you’ve rescued Quatre as part of the main story, head to the Artisanal District just before the gate leading to the Institute of Science and speak with the group of 3 people to accept the RC Car Showdown quest. You’ll need to select the following choices during the race:
- Floor It
- Stay the Course
- Aim for the Apex
After the race, the quest will complete and you’ll receive 2 SP for selecting the right answers.
School of Hard Knocks (Part 2)
After saving Quatre, make your way to the gate leading to the Institute of Science. You’ll now be able to pass through! Once at the Institute of Science, speak with the following people using the Topic:
- Kei – 1st Floor
- Researcher Nadir – 1st Floor
- Librarian Venter – 2nd Floor
After speaking with everyone, exit the Institute and head for the northwestern side of the area where you’ll find some picnic tables. Interact with the one marked by the objective to begin the investigation! During the discussion, select the following options:
- They Didn’t Name the Abuser
- Professor Callaghan
Reenter the building and head straight ahead to find the Security Guard standing in front of the Special Research Building entrance. Speak with him to trigger a lengthy cutscene.

Quests
QA Testing – Again!
Interact with the bulletin board in the Artisanal District to begin the QA Testing – Again! side quest. Next, head to the northeastern side of the Artisanal District and speak with Percy to officially accept the quest.
For the first objective, you’ll need to investigate the “Sooted Triad”. Head to the southwestern side of town near the Bracer’s Guild and interact with the smoke stacks on the roof of a house.
Secondly, you’ll need to investigate the “BATs’ roost”! Head east and check the Ticket Gate. A cutscene will trigger and you’ll find yourself in New Town when it concludes. To crack the code and investigate the designated object, head to the central eastern side of this area and enter the Basel Motor Pavilion. In the back corner on the second floor, check the red car “Z1 Car”.
Afterwards, enter Verne Arms to trigger a cutscene. When it ends, speak with Engineer Carter behind the counter to get the ZCF Goggles. Next, make your way to the bench in the small park to find Renne. Speak with her to complete the quest.
October 24th

Quests
Info Leak
Interact with the bulletin board in the Artisanal District to receive the Info Leak quest. For this quest, head to New Town and speak with Harrison in Hotel Ingress to officially accept the quest. After learning all the details about the honey trap, make your way to Verne Store and speak with Manager Radad behind the counter.
Once you get your new heading, travel to Giscard Workshop in the Artisanal District and speak with Chief Manager Eugen behind the counter. Now that you’ve deduced where your mysterious girl is headed, head back to New Town and head to the street level of Basel Motor Pavilion. Hug the right side of the building to trigger a prompt. Select “Pursue the ‘Researcher’ by Truck” to continue!
After you catch up with the girl, a fight will ensue. Defeat the pack of Grappler Dobers. You’ll then need to make a choice: Leave it to Verne or Tip Off the CID. If you select to tip off the CID, you’ll receive an increase to Gray.
Rx Research
Interact with the bulletin board at the Basel Institute of Science to receive the Rx Research quest. Head inside the institute and make your way to the Archette Laboratory and speak with Associate Professor Esmeray to officially accept the quest. Next, you’ll need to head to the Rare Metal Mine – Entrance in the Artisanal District. Once in the Rare Metal Mine, work your way through the area to the door just past the boss and investigate it. You’ll then be able to push forward through the area. See below for chests! When you reach the objective, you’ll fight the Level 41 Armored Bugbear. Take it out to nab the moss then return to Esmeray’s lab to complete the quest.
School of Hard Knocks (Part 3)
You’ll finally be able to continue with the quest during the main objective to “Search for Professor Cronkite while patrolling Basel”. Once you’ve ready, proceed with the main story to finally complete this quest!

Hidden Machines
Interact with the bulletin board in New Town to receive the Hidden Machines quest. To officially accept this quest, speak with 2nd Lieutenant Kaela nearby. Afterwards, head to the southwestern corner of New Town and speak with Willy at his food truck using the Topic. Now that you have learned some details about the Red Star truck, travel to the Artisanal District and head to the southwestern side of the area to speak with Deliveryman Jason using the Topic.
After deducing that the truck might have been driven by AI, return to New Town and head to the Basel Motor Pavilion on the eastern side of the area. Inside on the second floor speak with Junifer and Graham. When you’re ready to pursue the truck, speak with Junifer and Graham again. You’ll receive a warning that combat will ensue during this part and to only proceed if you’re ready. Once the cutscene ends, you’ll face 2 Level 42 Rayzanber Ouka. Defeat them to complete the quest.
