How to Start the Totem of Defiance Quest
To begin the Totem of Defiance side quest in Avowed, purchase the Fragments of the Offering, which is a map of the locations of the fragments for Skaen’s god totem, at the Farmer’s Market.
Totem of Defiance Walkthrough
Find the Totem Core
To find the totem of the Quiet Slave, an ancient tower, you must brave.
On the altar at the Shrine to Skaen, you’ll find The Schemer’s Offering, the God Shrine Totem Base.
Find the Sacrificial Dagger
Left alone in fallow fields, the ritual blade thirsts for skin freshly peeled.
This totem fragment can be found attached to the side of a building at the Abandoned Farms.
Find the Idol of Covert Plots
In a place of worship amidst moldering rot, this idol continues to scheme and plot.
This totem fragment can be found in the Infested Camp, which is in the Grim Wetlands. To reach it, you’ll need to enter the building via the roof.
Once inside, you’ll find the Idol of Covert Plots, a god shrine totem fragment, at the base of the statue.
Find the Idol of Secret Hatred
In a damp hollow, its sibling waits full of rage, while its previous owner decays with age.
To find this totem fragment, travel to the Ancient Grotto, which is southeast of the Overgrown Homestead. You’ll fight Old Nuna for the bounty in this cave.
Find the Idol of Violent Rebellion
From on high, the third surveys the land, sowing the seeds of revolt near at hand.
This totem can be found at the very top of the Ranger Headquarters. Start by jumping onto some barrels on the southern side to reach an overhang.
From there, you’ll be able to climb all the way up to the top!
Find the Obsidian Prayer Beads
In a verdant glade where old ruins crumble, you will find beads dark and umbral.
This totem can be found on a stone balcony in western Delemgan near the Delemgan Queen. To reach it, you’ll need to climb a tree, then follow the ledges to jump across a gap.
Find the Effigy Necklace
Hidden in the ruins of heathens long gone, the octet of skulls sings its silent song.
During the Ancient Soil main story, you’ll descend into the depths of Naku Tedek. After you go down the spiral steps at the entrance, head through the doorway and take a left. This will bring you to a small flight of stairs with a shut door at the top. To the left of this door, use electricity on the switch, causing the door to open. Head on through!
Use Eye of Rymrgand to freeze the water, allowing you to walk on it to reach the root. Take the root to the balcony with the necklace!
Restore the Schemer’s Offering
Travel to any party camp and find the stone with candles on it. Interact with the bottom right section to place the base of the totem. Once you’ve done that, place all the fragments on it to trigger an event. Once it concludes, the quest will complete. As a reward, you’ll receive buffs from each of the fragments you received.
