Dungeon Details for the Tomb of Lament

The Tomb of Lament is a dungeon you’ll visit during the Grieving Ghost of the Goblet quest, which also ties in with the Chalice cs. The Brew quest. The area is filled mainly with undead enemies and quite a few Guptauros wandering around. Outside of the usual treasures, there are two gold beetles (one on each floor) and a relic needed for Neuras’ Relic Search quest.

Tomb of Lament Walkthrough

Tomb of Lament

First set of stairs at the end of the western hallway during the Tomb of Lament quest

After entering the Tomb of Lament, you will want to head north until you reach the giant sealed door. From there, press on going west (passing a Guptauros) to reach some stairs and head deeper into the tomb. At the top of those stairs, you can speak to the Battered Adventurer, who will tell you about ghost enemies that like to summon monsters halfway through the fight. They will then start using powerful Dark magic to attack the party. Keep that in mind as you head toward the boss.

In the next area, you’ll want to follow the path north (make sure to hug the right side of the first hallway to find a gap you can crawl through leading to Neuras’ next relic), then take a right at the end, heading east to spot the next set of stairs. There will be two Gupauros patrolling the area, so pay attention to that. When facing the stairs, head north and loot the blue item on the ground at the end. This will open all the locked rooms, causing you to be abused by skeletons. Clear them out, then enter the middle cell on the west side. You’ll find a small hole in the wall you can crawl through. Follow that path to find a new weapon for Heismay.

Square-shaped room with the lever during the Tomb of Lament quest

Now, you should be on the northern side of the starting floor. Work your way to the big square-shaped room with all the stone columns in the center of the area. There will be a lever on the wall on the southwestern side of that room. Pull the lever, Kronk! This will open up multiple doors throughout the dungeon. Head through the southern door in the room, then take a left and go east. You’ll then want to descend the stairs there to return to the lower level.

path leading to the final lever during the Tomb of Lament quest

Back on the lower level, head south, then follow the hallway northwest to the northcentral part of the map. You’ll find a set of stairs that will bring you back up to the upper level. Go to the southeastern corner of the room, where you’ll need to channel your inner Kronk to pull one more lever. This will open the remaining door, allowing you to finally access the boss’s room. You can reach its head heading through the southern door and then take a left (heading east). Follow that path to find yourself at the Fatolich’s door! There will also be a Plateau Mirage there you can use to save.

Boss Fight: Fatolich

The Fatolich during the Tomb of Lament quest

The Fatolich is a Level 35 Undead enemy that called the Tombs of Lament its home. It is weak to light attacks but repels dark attacks. Make sure to plan accordingly. Additionally, its first move will be to summon a Chimenza that will heal it back to full health on the first turn that it’s summoned. So, you may want to spend your first turn dealing minimal damage and buffing the party. While the Chimenza is on the field, the Fatolich will deal increased damage, attacking the party with AOE dark magic. The Chimenza is weak to wind attacks, so make sure to utilize that to get rid of it quickly. Once both enemies go down, you’ll receive the Chalice of Legends.

For this fight, our protagonist was a Cleric with Cyclo from the Magic Keeker inherited. Strohl was set as a Swordmaster and kept using his Rising Slash skill to damage both enemies. We also left Heismay as an Assassin and Hulkenberg as a Magic Knight. One had inherited Hama, while the other had Cyc to help hit weak points. Our formation was to leave the protagonist in the back and the other three in the front.

Fatolich Attacks

  • Hyper – Begins to concentrate
  • Mamudo – Dark attack on all party members
  • Soul Cry – Gains two turn icons
  • Summon – Summons a Chimenza

Secondary Objectives

Gold Beetle

There are two gold beetles in the tomb you can stand. One is on the upper level, while the other can be found on the lower level.

  • Lower Level – northwestern side of the lower level. You’ll need to crawl through a hole in the to reach it.
  • Upper Level – crawl through the hole in the wall behind the Plateau Mirage, then head south down the hallway. There will be Pyrite Imitec guarding it.

Neuras Relic – Gypsum Cube

The item can be found on the … floor of the tomb just after past the bottom of the stairs coming from the first area. There will be a gap on the eastern wall you can crawl through that will bring you to the chest.
