Below is a walkthrough for Prologue of The Quarry. Please note that your choices, QTEs and collectibles found will impact the story. We highlighted the options we chose during our playthrough in orange. Keep in mind that we kept everyone alive and collected as many collectibles as we could!
During the first objective to get to Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp, Laura and Max will hit a bump in the road causing their phone to fly up. The QTE will allow you to catch it.
- QTE: Up
After some brief dialog about Christopher Columbus, you’ll have another choice:
- Pick Leaflet
- Pick Map
When the car goes off the road, the QTE will allow you to swerve to miss a stump.
- QTE: Right
When you gain control of Laura, head to the back of the car to the trunk and open it by pressing X. You’ll then have the following choice:
- Snoop
If you choose to snoop, you’ll find out that Max was rejected by Landis University. When given the chance to move around, interact with the X by the front of the car.
- Defiant “Are you my boss?!”
- Compliant “Hurry Up!”
After Max helps Laura down, head directly north going between the ground wall and the large rock to find The Fool tarot card.
Head forward a short way and stick to the right side of the path. The Harum Scarum Poster clue will be tacked to the tree.
Continue down the path. This time hug the left side to find a red trunk at the dead end. This is the Escapology Trunk clue!
Turn around and backtrack a short ways back to the main path. When the camera angle changes, there will be a little narrow path going to the right.
Take it to find the Broken Cage clue.
As Laura is running away from the guy that whispered into her ear, you’ll have two QTE prompts to miss the branches.
- QTE: Down
- QTE: Up
When the policeman asks you what happened, you’ll have the following choices:
- Evasive “We swerved off”
- Honest “Something jumped out
- Dishonest “An animal”
- Honest “It was dark”
- Dismissive “Taking in the sights”
- Friendly “We’re heading to camp”
- Insistent “Why not Hackett’s Quarry?”
- Compliant “We’ll head to the motel”
- Annoyed “Thanks for all your help”
- Relieved “That guy was weird”
When you gain control of Laura again, head to the yellow doors underneath the big building.
As you approach them, a cutscene will trigger followed by the following choices:
- Take Hammer
- Take Wrenches
- Confident “Yeah, saw it online”
- Resigned “Hammer time”
Once in the cellar, head straight north to find the Bloodied Collar clue on the ground.
You’ll have to approach this collectible to progress with the story! After the incident with Max, you’ll have to decide what to do:
- Help Max
- Leave Max
Ultimately your choice does not matter. The outcome is the same. After the scene plays out, the Prologue will complete and you’ll get to meet your “guide” who will review the tarot card (assuming you collected it). She’ll also present you with the following option:
- Move On
- See More
If you select “See More”, you’ll get to see a quick scene depicting a possible future. You’ll also receive the Forewarned is Forearmed trophy!
