How to Start The Alchemist’s Story Questline
To begin The Alchemist’s Story questline in Fantasy Life i, select the Alchemist Life License in Eternia Village’s Guild Office.
Next, speak with Chemmel in the Alchemist’s Guild on the west side of Eternia Village to become a Novice.
Alchemist Life Challenges
Novice Challenges
Alchemy, Grant My Wish!
First, you’ll need to get Healweed from Toto. You’ll find Toto next to the fountain in the square near the Guild Office. Speak with him to get five Healweed. Next, return to Chemmel and speak with him. He’ll then give you the HP Potion recipe and task you with crafting one. Interact with the workbench in the center of the room to begin crafting.
After you have an HP Potion, return to Chemmel. He’ll then task you with acquiring ingredients from the market on the east side of the Capital of Mysteria.
Make your way there and speak with the guy at the Material Shop. After a weird exchange, you’ll receive the Dubious Object.
Return to Chemmel at the Alchemist’s Guild and speak with him to receive the Memory Charm recipe.
You’ll then want to interact with the workbench to craft the object. Talk to Elke afterward to trigger a cutscene where you’ll hand the item over. He’ll pay you 500 Dosh for all of your hard work.
To verify if the Memory Charm worked, exit the guild and head to the Magician’s Academy in the Capital of Mysteria.
Once you cross the bridge leading into the city, head up the first flight of stairs and then right at the next set, by the statue. Enter the first door there to trigger another event. During which Chemmel will evaluate your performance as passing, accepting you as an apprentice, and making you the rank of Fledgling.
Fledgling Challenges
A Band-Aid for the Kingdom
For the A Band-Aid for the Kingdom life challenge, you’ll need to craft 4 HP Potions. To craft these items, you’ll need the following items:
- Healweed x20
- Gather from around Eternia Village
- Purchase for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
A Coral Reef Along Your Neck
For the A Coral Reef Along Your Neck life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Coral Necklace. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Pretty Coral x1
- Purchase for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Suspicious Object x2
- Purchase for 50 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
A Handful of glitter
For the A Handful of Glitter life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Topaz Ring. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Topaz x1
- Suspicious Object x2
- Purchase for 50 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Fantastic Fledgling Alchemist
For the Fantastic Fledgling Alchemist life challenge, you’ll need to craft without getting below a GREAT 10 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 150 Stars.
Fledgling Alchemist Skills
For the Fledgling Alchemist Skills life challenge, you’ll need to get an EXCELLENT 20 times while crafting. As a reward, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Jeweler of Charm
For the Jeweler of Charm life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Charm. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Bronze Ingot x1
- Craft using 3 Mysteria Copper
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Suspicious Objects x2
- Purchase for 50 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Lookin’ Good
For the Lookin’ Good life challenge, you’ll need to craft Green-Rimmed Glasses. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Yellow Stone x2
- Mine from ore deposits
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria
- Green Gel x1
- Dropped by Tropical Toads
- Purchase for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Mysteria Mineral Water x1
- Gather in the Capital of Mysteria from a pond
- Purchase for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
To Keep On Running
For the To Keep on Running life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 SP Potions. To craft SP potions, head to the nearest workbench and select the SP Potions from the Potions tab. To craft this potion, you’ll need 5 Vitalweeds. As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Apprentice Challenges
A Handful of Glittering Water
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Aquamarine Ring. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Aquamarine x1
- Curious Object x2
To get Aquamarine, mine the Blue Ore Deposits and Iron Ore Deposits in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island. They are a rare drop.
For the Curious Objects, you can get them from Fluff Ballers in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island. Alternatively, you can purchase them for 100 Dosh from the Material Shop at Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Amazing Apprentice Alchemist
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft without getting below Great 20 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 400 Stars.
Apprentice Alchemist Skills
For this life challenge, you’ll need to get an Excellent 40 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 400 Stars.
Beastly Claw Marks
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Claw Necklace. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Animal Claws x1
- Curious Object x2
For the Animal Claws, they are dropped from Forest Panther, which can be found in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island.
For the Curious Objects, you can get them from Fluff Ballers in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island. Alternatively, you can purchase them for 100 Dosh from the Material Shop at Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Heal and Be Healed
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 Healing Powders. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Soulweed x6
- Healweed x6
- Antidote Berries x2
You can purchase the Soulweed from the Material Shop in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island for 50 Dosh. Healweed can be purchased for 30 Dosh at the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria or the General Goods store in Eternia Village. For 100 Dosh, you can purchase the Rejuvenating Berries from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria or the General Goods store in Eternia Village.
As a reward for crafting the Healing Powders, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Jeweler of Bravery
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Reinforced Charm. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Iron Ingot x1
- Curious Object x2
To craft an Iron Ingot, you’ll need three Faraway Irons. You can purchase Faraway Iron for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop at Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island. Alternatively, you can mine it from the Iron Ore Deposits in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island.
For the Curious Objects, you can get them from Fluff Ballers in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island. Alternatively, you can purchase them for 100 Dosh from the Material Shop at Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward for crafting the Reinforced Charm, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Jeweler of Competence
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Charm Good or Better. As a reward, you’ll receive 600 Stars.
Mystery Maker
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Sunglasses. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Blue Stone x2
- Faraway Iron x1
For the Blue Stones, mine the Blue Ore Deposits in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island! The Faraway Iron can be mined from the Blue Ore Deposits and Iron Ore Deposits.
As a reward for crafting the Sunglasses, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
To Raise Everyone’s Spirits
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 Energy Powders. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Soulweed x6
- Vitalweed x6
- Rejuvenating Berries x2
You can purchase the Soulweed from the Material Shop in Lulab Forest on Faraway Island for 50 Dosh. Vitalweed can be purchased for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria or the General Goods store in Eternia Village. For 100 Dosh, you can purchase the Rejuvenating Berries from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria or the General Goods store in Eternia Village.
As a reward for crafting the Energy Powders, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Adept Challenges
A Band-Aid for Mysteria
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 Hi-HP Potions. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Healweed x5
- Goldweed x1
- Tropica Deep Sea Water x2
As a reward for crafting Hi-HP Potions, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
A Crystal in Your Hands
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Amethyst Ring. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Amethyst x1
- Silver Ingot x1
- Curious Object x2
As a reward for crafting the Amethyst Ring, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
A Stickler for Quality
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 HP Potions with Top or Better quality. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Healweed x10
As a reward for crafting the HP Potions, you’ll receive 550 Stars.
Adept Alchemist Skills
For this life challenge, you’ll need to get an Excellent 60 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 500 Stars.
Admirable Adept Alchemist
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 30 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 500 Stars.
Great Healing Be Upon You
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 2 Maxheal Dust. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Healing Powder x2
- Glossy Feather x2
- Wakeup Berries x2
- Tropica Deep Sea Water x4
As a reward for crafting Maxheal Dust, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
Knowledgeable and Gallant
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Silver Round Specs. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Purple Stone x2
- Tropica Silver x1
- Curious Object x1
As a reward for crafting Silver Round Specs, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
Masters of the Sea
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Marine Necklace. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:

- Mysterious Object x2
As a reward for crafting a Marine Necklace, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
Show Me Your Intellect
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Black-Rimmed Glasses with Good or Better quality. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Purple Stone x2
- Tropica Silver x1
- Big Tail x1
As a reward for crafting the Black-Rimmed Glasses, you’ll receive 700 Stars.
To the Wild
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Rugged Necklace. To craft these items, you’ll need the following materials:
- Beast Hide x2
- Thick Fang x2
- Leather String x2
- Curious Object x2
As a reward for crafting a Rugged Necklace, you’ll receive 300 Stars.
