In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Test of Will shrine quest challenges you to prove your endurance in the scorching heat of the Gortram Cliff area. By accepting the trial from two Gortram brothers, you’ll need to withstand intense temperatures to reveal a hidden shrine and claim its reward.

How to Start the Test of Will
To begin this shrine quest, travel to the area between Koukot Plateau and Mount Nabooru, located along the main path leading toward Gerudo. Here, you’ll find a group of three Gorons gathered at their ancestral training grounds.
Speak with the Gorons to learn that they are in the middle of a contest of endurance, testing their ability to withstand extreme heat. They’ll invite Link to join the challenge. Select the “Sure, I’ll give it a try.” option to accept, which will officially begin the Test of Will shrine quest.
How to Complete the Quest and Reveal the Shrine
To finish the Test of Will quest, you’ll need to outlast the Goron Blood Brothers in their endurance challenges. There are two phases to this trial.
First Endurance Test
Equip the Flamebreaker armor set to withstand the intense heat. If you don’t already own it, you can purchase the complete set in Goron City.
Once ready, step onto the platform with the brothers and approach the center to begin the trial. The rules are simple: remain inside the ring without passing out. If you leave or collapse from the heat, you’ll lose.
Stay in the center until all three brothers faint. Afterward, Link will be declared the winner and invited to attempt the ultimate version of the challenge.
The Ultimate Endurance Test
For this second contest, you must endure both extreme heat and fire damage. However, the brothers forbid you from using Flamebreaker armor. Instead, prepare by bringing Fireproof Elixirs.
You can purchase Fireproof Elixirs from Gaile at the Foothill Stable near Cephla Lake along the Maw of Death Mountain.
When you’re ready, drink a Fireproof Elixir and step back onto the platform to begin. The brothers will gradually increase the heat during the trial. Survive for about 45 seconds, which should be manageable with the elixir active.
Revealing the Shrine
After withstanding the ultimate endurance test, the shrine will emerge from the ground behind the Goron Blood Brothers, marking the completion of the Test of Will shrine quest.
