How to Start the Taking French Leave Quest
The Taking French Leave main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will automatically begin after completing Via Argentum.
Taking French Leave Walkthrough
Report to the Ruthards
Travel back to the southern part of Kuttenberg and speak with Guard to trigger a cutscene.
Speak with Rosa
Head up the stairs to find Rosa and speak with her.
Speak to Hashtal
Travel northwest of Maleshov and speak with Groom Hashtal at the homestead.
Find the old chapel
Head south to find the ruins of an old chapel.
Get to Maleshov through the secret passage
Look through the window to spot some more ruins across the way.
Head down the hill then head to the other ruins. From there, look for the stone. It will be underneath a half archway.
Follow the direction the stone points to the north. You’ll find another cross at the base of a tree near some water.
Head over a small hill and you’ll receive a prompt to look around. Against a tree you’ll spot a stone with a cross on it. Dig in front of it to find the secret passageway.
When you enter the passageway, follow the path through the tunnels to reach a door. Head through and continue forward a short way. When prompted, pull down the wall using the prompt. Climb through the wall and open the door to trigger a cutscene.
Find Hans Capon
When you gain control of Henry, head down the stairs in front of you. Go past the stairs heading down then enter the building to the right.
Inside you’ll find Cook Drahomira. Loot her keys: Maleshov chambers key, Maleshov fortress key, and Maleshov tower key.
Exit the building then take a right, heading south towards the outer wall and follow it east. Be mindful of the guard. Slip past him then turn left to spot some wooden stairs leading to an upper level.
Take them up and use your key to unlock the door.
Inside the castle, head straight through the hallway and take the next left to reach a stairwell. Head up the stairs to spot a group of people talking. Head under the stairs and wait for them to pass by. Once they do, head up the stairs and enter the door on the far side of the room. Head inside then quiet Lady Ofka. Loot the book on the ledge by the window to find Rosa’s book.
Grab the weapons in here as you’ll need two extras in just a minute!
Next, head all the way up to the top of the stairs to reach the upper floor. Be sure to grab everything you’ll need here. When you go through the far left door, a cutscene will trigger. During the cutscene, you’ll need to arm Hans and the other prisoner. Give them weapons, then you’ll have the option to rush the horses or scout it out.
Get Hans Capon to the horses
Head back outside the way you came then head north. Across the bridge, take a left to find the stables. When you get there, turn on your torch to signal them to come.
Open the gate
Once the pair arrives at the horses, head along the outer wall to reach the gate. At the gate, interact with the prompt to open it. As soon as you do, a cutscene will trigger and you’ll ride off into the moonlight!
Accompany Hans to safety
Follow behind Hans and Brabant, engaging in their conversation when prompted. Eventually, a cutscene will trigger, ending the Taking French Leave quest and beginning The King’s Gambit!
