How to Start the What Remains Mission
In order to start the What Remains mission, you’ll first need to complete the One Small Step main mission. After doing that, travel to any system, and you should receive a warning signal from the Oracle, which kicks off the mission. For more details on that, please check our How to Start the Shattered Space DLC guide.
Starfield Shattered Space What Remains Mission Walkthrough
Investigate the Oracle Starstation
After receiving the warning signal, fly over to the Oralce, dock with it, and then board the starstation. Once aboard, take a left and follow the walkway to the end, heading through the blue blast doors. This will bring you to a long hallway you’ll want to continue following. As you reach the other side, you’ll see a phantom briefly before it disappears. Open the blast doors, then continue to follow the linear path until you reach the room with the wall of blue light.
Witness the Scene / Kill Basira / Listen to Sirak
As you approach the wall, two more phantoms will appear and a scene will play out. After it concludes, you’ll be attacked by one of the phantoms named Basira. Defeat her, then loot her corpse to find Basira’s Log and an Oracle Access Card, among other things. You’ll then want to head over to Sirak (the other phantom) and listen to him before he disappears.
Find the Engineering Bay Controls
You’ll spot another blast door to the right of the room where Sirak was. Head through using the Oracle Access Card, then head forward until you reach the railing overlooking the suspended Great Serpent status.
There will be a trio of phantoms near it that you’ll want to take out. Once that’s done, take a right, following the objective marker down a hallway. Take the last door on the left to find an Access Card Reader. Interact with it to get the next objective.
Sirak’s Log 1
Before leaving this room, make sure to grab Sirak’s Log 1 on the desk near the Access Card Reader.
Find an Engineering Bay Access Card
Return to the big area with the Great Serpent statue, then head down to the lower level.
Sirak’s Log 2
While in the area with the Great Serpent statue, head down to the area under the statue to find this log on a podium.
Proceed past the elevator shaft to reach the cafeteria. Continue through the cafeteria to reach the hallway filled with the floating Oracle Crew and head through the yellow/orange door on the right to arrive in the server room. Go over to the railing overlooking the services and jump over on the left side, gliding down to the bottom.
You should then spot 6 storage areas filled with containers. Enter the room across from them and interact with the dial under the 3 on the console. This will eject the container, allowing you to squeeze through. Follow the shaft to reach a hatch, but be on the lookout as a phantom will spawn and start attacking you.
Drop through the hatch to land in a bathroom. Exit it, then glide to the top floor before you and over the railing. Enter the room on the back left to find the Engineering Bay Access Card on a bed, but be wary of the phantom that will appear as soon as you enter the room.
Sirak’s Log 3
After reaching the top floor after the bathroom, enter the room on the right. You will find this log on a counter next to a first aid kit.
Access the Engineering Bay
Backtrack, making your way back to the Access Card Reader in Engineering Bay. If you exit the room that had the keycard and take a right, you’ll see a secure door to the right of the railing. Interact with the switch on the wall to open it, bringing you back to the cafeteria from before. From there, you’ll have an easier time reaching Engineering Bay. Use the Access Card Reader when you get there. Along the way, more phantoms will appear to try and stop you.
Restore the Oracle to Full Power
Enter the Engineering Bay and interact with the Main Power Controls, then select “Reconnect Secondary Power Cell” and “Confirm.” Once done, Sirak will appear again, so listen to him ramble some more.
Restore the Oracle’s Gravity
As Sirak teleports away, a few more phantoms will arrive to play. Defeat them, then float up the shaft after Sirak. When you reach the walkway in the shaft, you’ll see that the room with the gravity controls is sealed. Follow the walkway around to the right and enter the doorway there.
Sirak’s Log 4
After entering the doorway, the last log will be on a desk to the left.
Find an Alternate Path to Reach the Gravity Controls
Continue heading further into the Oracle and follow the linear path through the garbage. On the other side, the alarm will sound, and the objective will update.
Find an Emergency Power Cell
To proceed, you’ll need to find a power cell to open the door. Luckily, one is nearby, floating in the debris. Grab it and place it into the receptive to restore power. You can then activate the nearby power switch to open the secure access door. Head inside, taking a left to reach the Main Gravity Controls. Interact with the console by choosing “Enable Gravity”.
Return to the Engineering Bay Controls to Restore Power
Head over to the secure access door and use the switch on its left to open the door leading to the shaft. Descend the shaft back to the Main Power Controls and use the terminal selecting Reconnect “Secondary Power Cell” and “Confirm” to finally turn the power back on.
Head to the Operations Center
To reach the Operations Center, head to the opposite side of your current floor (past the Great Serpent statue) to find a flight of stairs that will take you to Operations. After you arrive, Sirak will appear and start talking out loud again. There will also be a big chest you can loot as well.
Kill Sirak and the Vortex Phantoms
Once he stops talking, Sirak will lose control and start attacking with a couple more phantoms joining him. Defeat them all to continue.
Reboot the Oracle’s Mainframe
Now that all of the ghosts have been busted, loot Sirak to get the Operations Control Keycard, then use it by interacting with the Operations Controls to unlock the console. You’ll then want to choose the “Initiate Mainframe Reboot” option and wait for Oracle to reboot, which causes it to initiate a Grav Jump. After an event plays, the mission will be completed, rewarding you with 250 EXP and some credits. You’ll then start The Promised, Broken mission.
