How to Start the Sins of the Past on the Precipice of the Future Main Quest
You’ll automatically begin the Sins of the Past on the Precipice of the Future main quest after completing both the An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time and A Complication with the Computronic Cerebrum main quests.

Regroup with Your Crew
Once you begin this quest, travel back to the ship and head to the bridge. VAL will tell you that Horizon Point has returned and suggests you head there immediately. She’ll also tell you that this is the point of no return! Make sure to finish all your other activities before setting out.
Investigate the Disturbance at Horizon Point
When you’re ready to confront the consul, use the navigation terminal on the Incognito to travel to Reconstituted Horizon Point. The game will prompt you that this is the point of no return, then ask if you want to make a save. Afterward, a cutscene will trigger. After the briefing, exit the ship to the Landing Pad.
You’ll then need to follow the main path through Horizon Point, defeating the Protectorate soldiers and automechs along the way. Occasionally, you’ll need to use the Rift Anomaly Modulator to clear the path. When you get far enough, Auntie, Ruth, or both will announce they are on their way, depending on who you are aligned with.
Investigate de Vries’ Presence

If you spared de Vries earlier in the story, you’ll come across her ship along the main path while heading to the Sovereign’s ship. Head inside to find an audio log just before the door to the bridge. If you have Lockpick 7 (and a mag-pick), you can access the bridge and gain some more intel. To find de Vries herself, continue following the linear path. You’ll eventually hear her arguing with an old friend. Approach them to trigger a conversation.
Receive Support From Allies
Just past de Vries, you’ll reach an area occupied by your allies. They will have access to supplies and healing that will be provided free of charge. There will also be a workbench if you need to do some crafting. When you’re ready, continue heading for the Sovereign’s ship.
Investigate the Disturbance at Horizon Point
Press on to reach the area just below the Providence. Defeat the enemies in the area, then head to the bridge controls to lower the bridge. This will spawn more enemies between you and the skip labs.

In the skip labs, you’ll need to find a way to clear the rift hazard in the main chamber. To get the required equation, you’ll want to head up the broken piece of the ship.

At the top, turn around and jump across the gap to find the equation on the chalkboard. Interact with that and the device below it.

If you have Science 18 or the Professor background, examine the chalkboard on the northwestern side of this room.

Next, head through the door on the northeastern side and follow the path, going down one set of stairs. At the bottom, continue straight and follow the hallway when it curves right. At the very end of the hallway, take a right, heading through a door into a storage room and use the vent to reach the Sovereign’s office. Here, you’ll want to examine the equation on the chalkboard.
Next, backtrack out of the room and down the hallway, heading down some stairs to reach a shortcut to the terminal outside the skip lab. Use it to input the stabilization equation.
Enter the skip lab and use the rift to continue heading for the drop ship. You will face more Protectorate forces along the way. Once you’ve cleared them out, enter the dropship and use it to board the Sovereign’s ship.

Gain Access to the Hanger
On the ship, follow the path until you reach the room on the upper level with the Providence Hangar Terminal. Interact with this terminal to unseal the hangar doors.

Your allies will then board the ship. Join them in the hangar to deal with the Protectorate forces. Once they are cleared out, speak with Auntie, Ruth, or both.
Locate the Rift Modulator
Head through the door behind your allies and follow the hallway right to the Lift Transport.

Since you’ll be unable to use the elevators, enter through the main door to reach a large room filled with lasers and enemies. In this room, you’ll want to take the stairs to the very top level. Here you can pull a lever to disable security.

Continue following along the main path, passing through large doors, to find an area with a bunch of scientists. Speak with Scientist Pauline Adeyemi in the first room on the left. If you have Speech 7 or the information discovered, you can convince her to hand over a Science Deck Assess Credentials. Alternatively, you can pickpocket this card off of any of the scientists.
In the first room on the left, lower the containment shield and open the rift.

Next, interact with the corpse on the cot nearby to extract a tissue sample.

Cross the hall to the other side and use the Biological Centrifuge to run a sample analysis.

Once you have the card, enter the main door on the western side to find the rift modulator.

At the center of the giant contraption, speak with Chief Scientist Jude Monserrate and convince him to give you his keycard. Alternatively, you can just pickpocket the Chief Scientist Monserrate’s Keycard from him.
Once you have the keycard, interact with the rift device in the center of the room and take the Rift Modulator Schematics and Report.
Confront the Consul
Now that you have all the information, return the way you came to reach the Lift Transport area and use Elevator B to reach Floor 3 – Command Deck.
After a little pep talk from your allies (Ruth, Auntie, or both), open the doors to confront Consul Emory Thoreau. You must have a high enough Speech skill to convince the Consul to stand down; otherwise, you’ll have to attack and kill him!
Close the Rift

After you’ve dealt with the Consul, interact with the helm to learn that someone must sacrifice themself to steer the ship. You’ll need to make that decision. Afterwards, the game will end!!
