How to Start the Secret of the Cedars Shrine Quest
To begin the Secret of the Cedars shrine quest, travel to Hateno Village in the eastern Necluda Region. There, you’ll want to look for Clavia, a resident of the village. She can usually be found walking around her home near the dye shop or standing on the dock behind it during the day.
Speaking with her will prompt Clavia to tell Link her family’s story about three cedar trees growing on a mountain that point toward a hidden shrine. This will then begin the shrine quest.
Solving the Riddle and Finding the Shrine
Solving the Riddle
The mountain where this quest takes place is covered in snow and freezing. You’ll need at least two levels of Cold Resistance gear or food that warms you up to make it through the area.
Clavia’s clue refers to three cedar trees located on the peak of Mount Lanayru, just northeast of Hateno Village. To reach them, you’ll want to climb the southern slopes of Mount Lanayru, making sure not to go all the way to the snowy summit.
Around there, look for three large cedar trees arranged in a triangular pattern. Stand near the trees and look in the direction that they are pointing. The trick here is to look where a line drawn from the middle cedar between the other two would aim. In this case, that would be southwest.
Finding the Tahno O’ah Shrine
From the trees, head southwest, and you’ll eventually spot a small cliffside platform with a rock wall. Locate the bombable wall section and use your Bomb rune to blow it up.
Head inside to discover the Tahno O’as Shrine, completing the Secret of the Cedars shrine quest.
