The Outer Worlds 2 The Saga of the Malfunctioning Mechanicals Side Quest

To begin the Saga of the Malfunctioning Mechanicals side quest, you’ll need to travel to the town of Westport in the northeastern corner of Eden’s Paradise Island.

Once there, head to the giant building past the gates and speak with Vigilant Hogarth inside. He’s looking to get Westport back on its feet and is accepting any help he can get.

In that regard, he needs parts to reprogram their old combat mech to perform vital tasks for the town. If you agree to help him, he’ll give you a way into the Vox Relay.

Find Automech Repair Center Access Credentials

If you have the Engineering skill at 3, then you can talk your way into the Automech Repair Center without getting the access pass.

Before you can retrieve the replacement parts, you’ll need to travel to the Ministry of Accuracy to obtain Access Credentials to the Automech Repair Center. To reach it, travel northwest of Fairfield.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that the entrance is unguarded as raptidons are attacking the facility. Head inside and make your way to the larger building.

Make sure to explore while you are here! There is plenty of loot, like armor and weapons, just waiting to be swiped!

Once you’re inside the building, locate and speak with Inez. After you’re done, enter the nearby door and defeat the enemy raptidons in the room. You’ll then want to climb up the ladder near the door and head to the south side of the upper level to find a terminal.

At the entrance, speak with Sub-Mechanist Cade Tierney and show him your access pass to gain entrance to the center. If you have Engineering 3, then you can use that option to enter the facility without the pass.

Marshal Donelson

Follow the path to the main facility, where you’ll meet Marshal Donelson. Speak with him and ask about procuring some mechanical parts. He’ll send you to speak with Quatermaster Hazel Chapman.

She should be nearby, under an overhang. Ask about the parts while talking to her, and she’ll say that they seem to have gone missing, suggesting that Delphina might have taken them.

Search Delphina’s Lab for the Automech Parts

To reach Delphina’s lab, head to the northwestern side of the center, just past the clinic. Enter the lab and read the notes on the table behind Delphina.

Exit the lab and take a right, and follow the path to just past the storage rack. You’ll then want to interact with the overturned forklift robot lying on its side on the ground.

After that, use the yellow machines behind the robot to climb to the roof, then use the scaffolding to reach a higher section of the roof. Once on that section of the roof, head to the other side to locate the Automech Replacement Parts on a crate.

Return to Vigilant Hogarth

With the mech parts in hand, return to Hogarth in Westport to deliver them. He’ll then tell you how to bypass the Vox Relay and give you a writ to enter the relay. He also hatches a plan to have the current leader of the relay murdered so that another, more competent follower can take his place.

After the conversation, the quest will be completed.
