How to Start the Riddles of Hyrule Quest

To begin the Riddles of Hyrule side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, speak with Walton at the top of the Great Deku Tree in the Korok Forest. He’ll give Link the ultimate trial!

For this trial, Walton will tell you a riddle about an object, and you’ll need to solve the riddle and then bring him the correct object.
How to Complete the Riddles of Hyrule Quest
Riddle 1
For the first riddle, you’ll receive the following:
- Small, red, round, and sweet! Bring me one of this simple treat!
The object Walton refers to is an apple! If you don’t have one, you can find them growing on trees near some of the stables or one of the villages.

If you travel to the Ta’loh Naeg Shrine at Kakariko Village, you’ll find some on the tree there. Bring one back to the Korok and place it on the leaf before him. You’ll then get the second riddle!

Riddle 2
The second riddle goes like this:
- Kakariko Village’s specialty fruit! Its rock-hard flesh is quite resolute!
With this riddle, you’ll be looking for a Fortified Pumpkin. Travel back to Kakariko Village and head for Olkin’s Pumpkin Patch (open from 7 am to 5 pm)

Speak with Olkin there to purchase one Fortified Pumpkin for 20 ruppies. Bring it back to Walton and drop it on his leaf to get the third riddle!
Riddle 3
Riddle three is the following:
- This sultry shroom will warm your bones. It makes its home in warmer zones.
The item Walton is looking for with this riddle is a Sunshroom. If you don’t already have one, the quickest way is to travel to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab (in Hateno Village) and head north to the Retsam Forest.

You’ll be able to find a few there.

Grab one and bring it back to the Korok to get your fourth riddle!
Riddle 4
Almost there! Riddle four is:
- Its scales and tail will zap you, no doubt! This shocking swimmer is called a…fish.
To solve the fourth riddle, you’ll need to bring Walton a Voltfin Trout. You can find some in the Zora River, northeast of the Lanayru Tower in the western part of the Lanayru region. They tend to be where the name Zora River appears on the map.

You’ll have a better chance of finding them when it’s raining. An easy way to catch them would be by shooting them with electric arrows or throwing Yellow Chuchu Jelly at them.

Bring a Voltgin Trout back to Walton to get the fifth and final riddle!
Riddle 5
Finally! The last riddle! You are looking for the item described as:
- If stepped on by this, you will go poof! It starts with an H and ends with an oof!
Which turns out to be a Lynel Hoof…yay. Lynel drops Lynel Hoofs after defeating them in glorious combat! They can be found in various areas around Hyrule, but we are going to mention two of them.
The first one can be found in the Coliseum Ruins, south of the Central Tower in Hyrule Field.

Our second one is located on the peak of Ploymus Mountain, northeast of Zora’s Domain in the Lanayru region.
Once you obtain a Lynel Hoof, bring it back to Wilton and drop it on his leaf to complete the quest!

Walton will then reward Link with a Diamond!
