Approach the goblins

If you pass a skill check, you can convince the goblins to let you enter the town without a fight. Otherwise, you’ll have to take out their entire unit.

Whatever route you choose, go to the west side of town to find a giant windmill with a Gnome tied to it. If you convinced the Goblins to let you into town peacefully, you’ll have to talk their leader into leaving the Gnome alone. If you do, he will pull the Goblins out of town. If not, it looks like you’re fighting goblins!

Stop the windmill

In order to get the Gnome off the windmill, head inside through the back door and flip the brake lever to the left of the ladder under the gears. This will stop the windmill.

Head back to the front and interact with the Gnome to start a conversation. He’ll ask you to cut him down. You can comply or leave him there. If you cut him down, the conversation continues.

You can then choose to extort him or let him go. Depending on your choices, you will receive different approvals.

  • I freed you. A little compensation would be nice. / Yes. My rewards – now.
    • Shadowheart approves.
  • You owe me nothing.
    • Gale / Karlach approves.

Either way, he’ll tell you to keep his pack if you can find it and be off. The Rescue the Gnome quest will then be complete.
