How to Start the Pressing Cares Side Quest

The Outer Worlds 2 Pressing Cares

To start the Pressing Cares companion quest, simply travel to Paradise Island on Eden, then wander around for a bit. Eventually, Niles will ask to speak with the commander, asking if they can stop by an old acquaintance of his so that he can right some past wrongs.

Reunite Niles and Zebulon

To reunite Niles with Zebulon, you’ll need to travel to the town of Westport, which is located in the northeastern part of Paradise Island. Once you arrive, head to the northern part of the area, which will be overrun with crabble.

Make your way to the Perfect Goods Building, in the back by the water. Enter the building and speak with Zeb.

Rescue the Subversives and Acquire Cipher

In order to do this next objective, you’ll first need to have found a way into the Vox Relay Station, which is done during The Saboteur of Paradise main quest. The landing pad you’re looking for is located south of the Vox Relay. So, if you cross the bridge and head east along the road, you’ll reach it.

Alternatively, you could head northwest from Westport to the river, running south of the relay. There is a ship there that you can reach with the Double Jump Boots. This will lead you to a lift that takes you up to the landing pad.

Enter the landing pad and deal with the enemies present there. This is a trespassing zone, so they will attack on sight. Once they have all been dealt with, make sure to loot them all (they have the Vox Landing Pad Storage Key you’ll need) and go to the back of the landing pad to find a cage with Audra inside.

Alternatively, you can sneak past them to reach Audra’s cell. You will need to pickpocket the key off of the Protectorate Neophyte, too.

Speak with Audra / Help Audra

Speak with her to get the cipher. She’ll then say she wants to stay so she can blow the shuttle when it takes off. You can let her sacrifice herself if you wish!

Alternatively, if you have Engineering 4, tell her it won’t work; otherwise, Niles will bring it up. You’ll then need to have a Speech of 3 to agree with Niles about letting him sabotage the transport. If you fail to persuade her, you’ll be forced to leave her behind.

Unlock Audra’s Cage

If you convince Audra not to throw away her life, she’ll ask for the key that you should already have. Use it to unlock the gate and free her. Before setting off, she’ll ask that you not damage the transport, fearing the repercussions.

Allow Niles to Sabotage the Protectorate Transport

As she walks away, Niles will say that he doesn’t feel right leaving without doing something for the Protectorate. You’ll then have to decide to let him sabotage the transport to make it look like an accident or to walk away.

Debrief at Zebulon’s Clinic

Head back to the Perfect Goods in Westport and speak with Zeb. Inform him of what transpired and give him the cipher to complete the quest. You’ll receive EXP and Niles’ Mod Kit as a reward. You can use the mod kit to upgrade Niles’ weapon and armor.
