Withered Wasteland Story Progression Guide
The Withered Wasteland is a harsh and desolate region filled with dry terrain and unique Pokémon encounters. As you progress through this part of the story, you’ll complete a series of objectives that push the narrative forward while unlocking new areas to explore. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step breakdown of the main story progression in the Withered Wasteland, including where to go next, what challenges to expect, and helpful tips for overcoming each section.
Complete the Tutorial
Meet Tangrowth
- Speak with Tangrowth
- Inspect the wheelbarrow
- Follow Tangrowth and speak with it again
Help Squirtle
- Help out Squirtle
- Pro Tip: Use Water Gun on Squirtle to hydrate it
Make Tall Grass Habitat
- Water four Tall Grass to make the Tall Grass Habitat
- This will get you Bulbasaur by interacting with the rustling grass
- Takes a couple of minutes to show up
Help Bulbasaur
- Complete Bulbasaur’s Water Dry Grass! Request
- Use water gun on 10 Tall Grass in the area
- Speak with it after to learn Leafage
Help Squirtle
- Complete Squirtle’s Help make a home! Request
- Use Leafage to make another Tall Grass Habitat
- Speak with Squirtle and allow it to move in there
Find Leppa Berries and give them out as a present
- Find Leppa Berries and give them out as a present
- Speak with Tangrowth
- Use Water Gun on the tree stumps in the area
- Headbutt the trees and collect the Leppa Berries
- Give Squirtle or Bulbasaur a berry
Place the Chair
- Speak with Tangrowth and it’ll give you a chair
- Put the chair down by Tangrowth then sit in it
Craft a Campfire
- Follow Bulbasaur to the workbench
- Speak with Bulbasaur then use the workbench to make a campfire
- Return to Prof Tangrowth and place the campfire
- Make another Tall Grass Habitat, then wait for a new friend to show up
- Have Charmander follow you over to the campfire to light it
Explore the Human-made building over yonder
- Follow Tangrowth to the ruined Pokémon Center
- Examine and then interact with the PC
- Complete all three of the challenges
- Gather sturdy sticks! #1 – Collect 10
- Water trees! #1 – Water 5 trees
- Find new Pokemon #1 – Find 6 Pokemon
- Turn the challenge in at the PC then view the shop
- Speak with Tangrowth
Raise the Pokemon’s comfort levels
- Speak with Bulbasaur and complete It’s a bed for a buddy! Request
- Use the workbench to craft a Staw Bed with the recipe and leaves you just received
- Place the bed next to Bulbasaur’s home (habitat)
- Speak with Bulbasaur afterward (once it lies in the bed)
- Return to the PC
- This will raise the environment level to 2
- New items will unlock in the shop
Build a leaf den
- Build a house for your Ditto!
- Purchase a leaf den kit from the shop for 50 Life Coins
- Pick a good spot and place the leaf den kit there
- Collect and deposit 3 sturdy sticks and 3 leaves
- Have Timburr and the other requested Pokémon follow you to the kit and place them there to start building (will take 15 minutes to complete)
- Craft three pieces of furniture and place them inside the home
- This makes it livable
Have a celebration
- Find out how to celebrate
- Speak with Charmander who will want to throw a party now that your house is completed
- Have it follow you back to Professor Tangrowth
- Speak with the professor about the celebration
- You’ll receive the Ditto flag
- Place the Ditto Flag
- Place the flag on top of your house. This marks the house at Ditto’s.
Rebuild the Pokémon Center
- Raise the Withered Wasteland Environment Level to 2
- Purchase the Pokémon Center Rebuilding Kit for 1,000 Life Coins
Recruit a Pokémon with bulldoze skill
- Speak with Squirtle and complete its Investigate the cave! request
- Enter the cave and follow the voice in the cave to locate Onix behind a breakable rock wall
- Speak with Onix and try to free it
- Return to Tangrowth and ask it how to free Onix
- First you must break the rocks to reach the other side of the rock wall
- Investigate the mysterious machine
- Inspect the mysterious machine on the lighthouse-looking structure
- Speak with Professor Tangrowth back by the Pokémon Center
- Find a Slowpoke
- Return to the sand-covered lighthouse-looking building area and place 4 tall grass near the ocean to create the Seaside Tall Grass Habitat
- Wait for Slowpoke to show up and speak with it
- Complete Slowpoke’s Clear the path! Request
- Clear a path for Slowpoke by watering the sand path and placing stairs as needed
- Yawn up a storm!
- Raise the humidity by watering everything, using Rock Smash to reveal waterfalls, and restoring the Horsea fountain
- Complete some requests for Bulbasaur
- Complete some requests for Slowpoke
- Complete some requests for Squirtle
- Get Slowpoke to yawn after Squirtle’s Rain Dance Party!
- Raise the humidity by watering everything, using Rock Smash to reveal waterfalls, and restoring the Horsea fountain
- Check out the noise from the ocean
- Head south from the Pokémon Center to reach the ocean
- Fix the bridge using Bridge Planks (purchase the Wasteland house recipe set from the shop)
- Speak with the mysterious Pokémon
- Return to Onix in the cave and free him
- Speak with Prof Tangrowth
Rebuild the Wasteland Pokémon Center
- Collect the materials and deposit them in the Pokémon Center’s dropbox.
- 20 Lumber, 20 Stones, 10 Leaves, and 10 Vine Ropes
- Bring 8 Pokémon to help with constructions
- Include the following Specialties
- Build
- Bulldoze
- Chop’
- Include the following Specialties
- Rebuild the Pokémon Center!
