Perilous Journey to the Grove Task Guide
How to Start the Perilous Journey to the Grove
To begin the Perilous Journey to the Grove task, you’ll need to travel to Fairfield on Eden’s Paradise Island. Once there, head to the constabulary to find Huell Chaundry standing outside near the bounty machine. Speak with him to learn about his business deal, then agree to meet with his business associate on his behalf.

Meet Jackson Plum in Spire Grove
To reach the Spire Grove, you’ll need to travel southwest of Fairfield. From there, there is a short way and a long way to arrive at the grove. To take the shortcut, you’ll need Engineering 3. This will allow you to repair a broken lift on the northeast side of the grove, from which you can then ride to your destination.
Alternatively, you can climb on top of the structure with the broken lever, then continue climbing up the mountain on either side of the lift.
If you don’t have Engineering 3, then you can also take the long way around. This involves heading to the west side of the map near the Crabbing Tower, then following the mountain path on the northeast side to the spire.
Search Jackson Plum’s Corpse
When you arrive at Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove, you’ll make it just in time to see Jackson fall to his death. Head over and interact with his body to learn that the fall didn’t kill him, but the force did.
This will trigger an event in which you overhear two others talking about the incident. They will then call out to you, asking if their fellow survived the fall. They will then say he was trying to get some materials that could help the team safely climb down from where they were trapped, but misinterpreted the thrust as meaning the boots he was using could fly. The surviving duo will then ask if you can help them.
Once the conversation ends, interact with Jackson again to remove the boots from him and obtain the schematics for Huell. The game will then present you with a tutorial on how to use the P.A.L.E. boots to double jump!
When we first tried to loot the boots off of Jackson, his inventory screen would disappear really fast before we could do so. To fix this, we saved and reloaded the game. This let us take the boots!
Return to Huell
Once you have both the boots and the schematics, the objective will update to Return to Huell. Saving the two Auntie’s Choice employees will now be tracked under a new side quest, A Final Death for Gravity.
Return to Huell in Fairfield and speak with him to deliver the schematics. After some dialogue with the man, the task will be completed, and you’ll be rewarded with some EXP and bits for your trouble.
