How to Start the Path to Self-Sustainability Quest
The Path to Self-Sustainability quest in Octopath Traveler 0 will automatically begin after completing The Restoration Begins quest.
Path to Self-Sustainability Walkthrough
Remove the rubble and clear the land
The rubble can be found around the tavern. Clean up fourteen chunks of it!
Complete Kindlers of the Flame
To progress this quest, you will first need to complete the following quests:
Plant two seeds in the fields
To plant the seeds, speak with Basil. Even though you only have one Tomato Seed, you can plant it in both fields.
Obtain two yields from the field
Next, you will need to wait for the seeds to grow. If you assign Margot to the fields with Basil, you can speed up this process! Simply traverse through different areas to progress through time.
When it’s time, speak with Basil to harvest the tomatoes.
Build a ranch
To build a ranch, you must first clear a space large enough either west of the tavern or east of the fields. Next, you must collect 30 Cloth and 15 Lumber from around the areas at collection points.
Raise 2 animals on the ranch
In order to raise animals on the ranch, you must first assign a resident to it. Once you’ve assigned someone to the ranch, travel to the ranch and speak with that person to assign the chicken in both slots.
Obtain 2 yields from the ranch
Just like with the field, you will wait for time to pass before you can collect the yields from the ranch. After your ranch is ready, interact with the trunk by the ranch to collect the yield.
Build a house
Since you already have two houses, build a third!
Upgrade the hub
After you place the third house, a cutscene will trigger, introducing you to upgrading facilities. To upgrade, go into the town building menu, then select the Hub. To upgrade the hub, you must use two Radiant Cornerstones, which the game provides to you.
To get more Radiant Cornerstones for future use, you must defeat Elite Enemies. Be sure to check out our Octopath Traveler 0 Bestiary for a complete listing of where to find Elite Enemies!
If you have extra Radiant Cornerstones from Elite Enemies that you’ve already defeated, we recommend upgrading the Workshop to Level 2. This lets you can perform town building anywhere in Wishvale with the touch of a button.
Place 20 decorations
Place any decorations you’d like in your town to reach the requirement of 20 items!

After completing this quest, the Path to Self-Sustainability quest will also end.
