How to Start the Assassinated Man Quest
To begin the Assassinated Man quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you must complete the To Server Sithis Dark Brotherhood quest first. Upon doing so, you will start the Assassinated Man quest automatically.
The Assassinated Man Quest Walkthrough
Speak with Francois Motierre
To reach Francois, you must travel to Chorrol, which can be found west of the Imperial City. Once there, head for his house near the center of town. You’ll need to pick the hard lock on the front door to get inside.
Upon entering the building, Francois will quickly go over the plan with you, right as his would-be assassin shows up.
Fake the Death
Before things kick off, ensure you have the Languorwine Blade equipped for the performance. When the Argonian enters the building, Francois will begin his act. Wait until Hide-His-Heart tells you to stand aside as Motierre is his. That will be your queue to slash Francios with the blade.
You’ll then need to quickly exit the house and flee through the city gates without engaging with the Argonian. Once outside the city, the quest objective will update.
Revive Francois
Use the wait feature to wait 24 hours for Francois’ body to be moved to the Chorrol city Undercroft. To reach it, enter the Chapel of Stendarr and head down the nearby stairs. You’ll find a door there that will take you to the Chapel Undercroft.
Once inside, head to the east side to find Francois’ body and interact with him to administer the antidote.
Speak with him after to learn that by reviving him, you have desecrated his family tomb. This will cause the dead to rise in anger, prompting you to escort Francois from the Undercroft while protecting him from a few zombies. You’ll then need to bring him to the Grey Mare on the east side of town. Speak with him inside to complete your contract with him.
Return to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary
With the contract completed, it’s time to return to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary to tell Vicente the good news. This will complete the quest, and you’ll receive the Cruelty’s Heart necklace as a reward. You’ll also be promoted to the Eliminator rank and be given a key to use the well behind the Abandoned House as a shortcut to the sanctuary.
