How to Start the Seeking Your Roots Quest
To begin the Seeking Your Roots quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you’ll need to pick some Nirnroot. We found ours at the bottom of the Cheydinhal Mages Guild Well during the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest.

Bring the Nirnroot to an Alchemist
There are many alchemists found throughout Cyrodiil. We brought ours to Eilonwy in the Cheydinhal Mages Guild. When speaking with her, use the “Nirnroot” option. She suggested we speak to Sinderion in Skingrad.
Bring the Nirnroot to Sinderion
Travel to Skingrad, which is southwest of the Imperial City and make your way to the West Weald Inn on the northeastern side of town. Inside the inn, head through the door to the right of the fireplace to reach Sinderion’s Cellar.
Speak with Sinderion about the Nirnroot and Elixir of Exploration.
Gather 10 Nirnroot
To craft the Elixir of Exploration, he’ll need 10 Nirnroots and ask that you collect them for him. He suggests exploring a place called Shadeleaf Copse for them. You’ll find Shadeleaf Copse just northeast of Skingrad.
After arriving at Shadeleaf Copse, harvest the three Nirnroots from around the shore of the pond with the rock in the middle.
It’ll be up to you to find the rest. Search along bodies of water to find them! Besides using your eyes to look for them, listen with your ears as they make a shimmering sound when you get close to one.
Deliver Nirnroot
Once you’ve found 10 Nirnroots, return to Sinderion to hand them over. Wait 24 hours then speak with him again to get the Weak Elixir of Exploration.
Gather 20 Nirnroots
Next, he’ll want 20 more Nirnroots! Happy hunting!
