How to Start the Of Secret and Shadow Quest
To begin the Of Secret and Shadow quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Ocheeva after completing the Permanent Retirement Dark Brotherhood quest.

View Your Orders
For this quest, Ocheeva will hand you a letter from Lucien and tell you to read it. Open your inventory and find the Orders from Lucien Lachance in the miscellaneous tab.
Read them to learn that Lucien wants to brief you on the details of this contract in person at his private sanctum in Fort Farragut. You are to set out for the fort immediately without mentioning a word of this to anyone!
Report to Lucien
Leave the sanctuary, head through the Cheydinhal East Gate, and then follow the road east. This will bring you right to the fort. Head inside and work through it to reach the sanctum when you arrive. Along the way, you’ll have to fight several Dark Guardians that will attack you on sight.
Upon reaching Lucien, approach him to trigger a conversation. During this time, he’ll tell you that the Dark Brotherhood has been infiltrated by a traitor who has been active since before we joined, absolving you of being a suspect. To put an end to the traitor’s schemes, we’ve been tasked with performing the ancient rite of Purification.
This means we have to kill everyone who calls the Cheydinhal Sanctuary home. He’ll also give us a poisoned apple and a summoning scroll to assist in this endeavor. The Of Secret and Shadow quest will then be completed, and the Purification quest will start.
