How to Start the Cheydinhal Recommendation Quest
To begin the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Falcar in the Cheydinhal Mages’ Guild.
Cheydinhal Recommendation Walkthrough
In order to get Falcar’s recommendation, we must find the Ring of Burden.
Get the Key
For this quest, we’ll need to get a key to the Cheydinhal Mages’ Guild Well from Deetsan, who can be found walking around the guild.

Find the Ring
After receiving her warning, head behind the guild to find the well and use the key to enter it. You’ll find yourself immediately immersed in water, so you must be quick! If your skill level is high enough, you can use the Buoyancy skill she gives you to cast water breathing and feather on yourself.
After swimming through the small opening, you’ll find the ring to the right on Vidkun’s body.
Return to the Mages Guild
Return to the Mages Guild then speak with Deetsan about Vidkun and the recommendation. You’ll then learn that Falcar stormed out after Deetsan confronted him.
Investigate Falcar’s Living Quarters
Head down to Falcar’s room in the basement and lockpick the easy drawers next to the bed.

Inside, you’ll find some Black Soul Gems.
Speak with Deetsan
Return to Deetsan to hand over the Black Soul Gems. She will also write you a recommendation as a thank you, and the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest will come to a close.
